I very much prefer being hyped by an update that brings 4 playables than being hyped for 8 months only to get a single mechanic that nobody uses

Galli is retroactively gonna make Carno and Utah much more fun to play. It’s going to be much larger than the other skittish ‘runners’, faster too, so it has the ability to tank a little damage, and hopefully the speed to escape, while also being vulnerable to their special abilities!

galli is the least complex out of the 4 announced. also, i believe that these 4 have been worked on for a while in secret. we went from knowing little to nothing about them to now them being nearly complete on the trello. so, i don't think it's going to slow development too much. hopefully we get diablo and dilo update 7.

We need a bigger carni to kill the op stegos we need more aquatic creatures and we need more herbis to diversify the stego teno mix packs which make it impossible to hunt them making anyone who plays a carni to cannibalize everything

So many dinos in one update, it's a way for the devs to compensate for the terrible year that was 2022, and I accept that compensation.

The Isle redditors are the most depressing people I saw in a while. It's best to just ignore them. Great video! Adore the fact that you managed to address a section of the community that is most often overlooked (for a reason, lol.)

Fuckin finally, four new dinos coming out for the Isle. Also I don't mind the devs adding Galli into the game since I always liked playing as herbivores when I want to play as a dinosaur besides carnivores. Speaking of the four new dinos, I'm most excited for Cerato because Cerato to me is one of my favorite dinos and I feel like it's one of the most underrated dinos.

I'm somewhat active on the reddit and actively critical of the game but I'm all for an extra playable in the update. I just hope that it isn't the devs trying to compensate for not only the past updates but also the future updates, using content they would have otherwise delayed to temporarily get back good faith for one update. Pleasantly surprised about the news though, it's more than I would have expected.

It’s not that they are adding Dinos that “would have been delayed”. It’s the update *itself* being delayed, due to the engine update, which causes the window of time that they can add things, to lengthen. Cerato and Beipi and Galli would have taken the same time to finish either way, but the update is taking so long, that they’re managing to slip into this update. It’s just that the team members, who do all the animation and sound work for new dinosaurs, aren’t ever sitting on their hands waiting on the code to be implemented, so some things get worked on regardless of the speed of other things.

I agree with your assessment of the situation. It is good and a neat surprise that they announce a 4th one being added to the roster for Update 6.5. Can understand the restrain of to much hype though, especially after the Update 6 with... underwhelming results. But I think it is to be expected that they will add further playables this year! I vaguely recall something being stated that 7 playables would be "close" to be finished. I assume the release-rate will increase after that long overdue hiat of adding anything after Pachy!

I'm excited for deinocheirus honestly. I really hope to be able to content with spinos over territory. I feel like they should focus on making spino proper to its species, mainly focusing on a heavy fish-based diet ideally and not just some OP powerhouse like in legacy with godly health, bleed and healing abilities. But who knows considering the devs have a literal hard-on for making carnivores OP as can be despite in real life herbivores are, and undoubtedly were, some of the most powerful and dangerous animals on the face of the planet.

Who the hell would complain at the fact we’re getting 4 playables? This is the biggest update since update 2. I’ll gladly look at this optimistically for once, I can’t wait to get my hands on troodon, cera, and Galli. Edit: I am also extremely excited for Maia, it was my go-to herb in legacy. Can’t wait for it to be added to evrima.

I really am Not a fan of the Isles development process, but adding galli doesn't really look like a negative to me. Apexes would be one thing, but galli?

Truthfully I'm happy with getting 4 dinosaurs in one update. I just worry that they may come out either incomplete, half baked, or otherwise uninteresting. I worry that they might be trying to accomplish too much at the same time. However if they can put this out and it is well received, then I suppose there's no harm with them trying to multitask.

You can never please some people. "Oh too little for one update that we waiting half a year for" "Oh how dare you put too much into one update" I think U6 was the least we got for a long period of time but every other update was fine and I reckon this coming update will be the best for a while and I have no worry that it will take too long when talks of an ST coming around soon along with the update trailer soon too, so I don't think we have too long to wait.

I don't agree with the reasoning used and I think Galli this update is a good thing, however it does represent their horrible planning when a .5 update has more content in it than the few that have come before it, arguably more content than any update they've ever made.

I used to play Legacy a whole bunch, but got tired of the slow growth time for dinosaurs. I recently reinstalled The Isle to see if the upcoming update will fix the performance issues somewhat. I currently get 15-25 fps. I’m excited for Gali. I’d like to chill with a dinosaur that grows fast and runs fast, and explore the map because everything is green and looks the same.

I think this is a case of the community being so used to bad news that they don't know how to process good news. At first I was hesitant about galli because it might hold back the update for a while. Then I looked at the roadmap and it showed galli is in balance testing stage so this should be a good thing. Also from the way the devs were talking about ue5 it seemed as though it would be added with 6.5. In that case it will probably be the thing holding up the update.

Oh hey, that's me in the second comment! I know this was three months ago, but iirc I was wary if the Isle devs could actually pull off adding 4 playables in a timely manner into a single update. They seem to struggle adding single playables to the game, so 4 felt somewhat worrying especially when troodon was known to have issues at the time. It wasn't galli that made me skeptical, it was the state of troodon. Generally, it feels like the devs bite of more than they can chew at times. Demanding perfection with such a small team and only pushing out updates when they're Perfect is what I meant by "Isle Dev Moment TM". It's worrying 'cause I like the game and want it to succeed. I think the way the devs go about things just makes it harder for themselves. To me, adding playables when they're ready in smaller, perhaps more frequent, updates just seems easier? Anyways, now that update 6.5 is out, I'm quite happy! The devs worked hard and delivered a great update. The new playables are a lot of fun and they all feel really good to play. 6.5 could be a great turning point for the game's development, I'm excited to see what the devs show us next. :] (Also, I do think it's funny that you highlighted Cola's comments in the video of all people hahaha. They're probably one of the more positive yet grounded users on the subreddit. If you crawl through the usual negative sludge that The Isle subreddit has to offer, Cola tends to be one of the users pushing back against that kind of stuff.)

i feel like the updates with whole numbers are for core mechanics/systems (like gore, elder system etc) and the .5s ARE for dinos. if they add in some dinos then a mech then dinos then we get dinos...and mechs, which i think is better than being able to migrate or whatever isle dev moment^tm comes next

I agree buddy. Some people are very used to trashing on the Isle and let’s be honest, the Devs can make it very easy for people to do that. However, we should always acknowledge the good things they do and this update is def a step in the right direction.

So there basically saying that they don’t want dinosaurs in an update despite 1 year of nothing basically.

This is exactly why I look at things from both sides. People always act like the source of all the trouble are the devs, always accusing them of being toxic individuals. Now of course, its true and totally understandable, but look at now. The devs finally manage to get something good going... and the community is still doing what they do as usual. People really need to realize that their actions also affect the dev team, wich in turn affects the rest of the community.

Can't understand the elder take i mean if all of them is going to have it finishing the dinosaur now just means they dont have to work on them then except doing the elder specific thing they have to make anyway?

I don´t see a problem with them adding Galli. Evrima can certainly do with more playables. Galli wouldn´t be my first pick for this, but I´m sure many people are excited for it. And even I can see myself having fun with the noodle neck. I also doubt that it has much influence on the updates release. Sure its more testing and fixing that needs to be done, but if they think Galli is at a development state where it can be added to the roster, I don´t mind it. That said, I can understand that people are... sceptic of this. The isles update history isnt exactly perfect. So my hope is honestly that they take their time with the upcoming stresstest to really iron out most issues before releasing the update. Because I sure as hell don´t want another half year with a barely playable version of the isle. So I´d rather get the update later rather than sooner, if it means its in a good state.

What do you mean overboard we why can’t people be happy with things we had one animal come in a update and now we are getting four. People these days.

I do think that galli is too much of an issue for update 6.5, but I do understand the overly negative take on the updates.

This update literally brings in as many dinosaurs as i think the last... 4 Or 5 combined. Also I completely agree with you on humans, I too couldn't care less about and don't like them adding actual humans to the game. Howdy, I don't usually comment on videos using this account anymore, but this video just appeared in my recommend feed last night before I went to bed because apparently content-sharing algorithms are scary robot stalkers. I'm the HeWhoDrinksCola guy from that post. I just feel the need to clarify a few of the things I said. Apologies in advance for the massive wall of text that will follow, but if you know me from the subreddit, it's kind of a thing that I frequently do. For one thing, I made these posts before Gali was moved to update 6.5 on the trello along with Cera and Beipi, along with all of the ticks for it putting it on-par completion-wise with the other playables in the update. As far as I was concerned at the time, this announcement was taking an update that was basically already done aside from them ironing out the transition to UE5 and doing the stress test for the playables. So Gali being added to the update only served to tack on more time to an already worryingly slow mini-update. This wasn't helped by another screenshot someone posted that was misleadingly suggesting that Gali hadn't even entered QA yet, which made it seem very unfinished. Knowing that it was basically already done alongside all the other playables completely shaved off that concern for me. As a second thing, while I do believe that more playables is not an inherently bad thing, especially since one of the biggest things that Evrima is currently lacking is playstyle variety, I will stand by my assessment that they should get those universal mechanics done before they start padding out the roster, the elder system has, as far as we've been told, only been in the early planning phases since update 6 dropped. A major system that will be shared by all playables in the game, which means that for each additional playable that's already in the game, that update is going to take longer. The weather system in update 8 is also going to universally effect all playables, which means for each playable already in the game, that update is likewise going to take longer. I tend to stay very positive on the subreddit, because I know what a toxic environment it can be at times, and how much negativity permeates it most of the time. I try to keep people from spreading misinformation and making sweeping generalizations about the devs based on the actions of a few bad eggs amongst them, and try to be informative in my posts when I can. Heck, one of the posts I tried to make (which for some reason still hasn't gone through on the subreddit for some reason?) was just a summary of "just the good bits" of the newest devblog for the people who just want the relevant gameplay info without all the fluff that surrounds it. But I also try to temper expectations on a few things, because it seems like a lot of the time, the subreddit will sway between full-blown pessimism, or getting their hopes ridiculously high for something and then being disappointed. I try to walk a balance between these two things. I am extremely optimistic about this game, honestly likely more than a lot of people would say it deserves, I love this game, and I want to see it become better, but that is why I'm concerned when I see something without full context or questionable decisions in general. I'd like to apologize in advance if any of these points weren't even touched on in the video, or if I'm ignoring any points that were made, I'm kind of hastily typing this out before I go to work and don't quite have the time to watch the video in full at this moment. I'll respond more thoroughly this evening when I get home and have the time to properly sit down and watch this.

@@Orni-Mega-Lonyx Sorry for the late reply, work was the worst and I basically fell into my bed and died when I got home. But now that I'm awake again: Hey, no stress my guy. I always try my best to see things from other people's points of view if they're being reasonable, and it's clear that you're not one of those people who are just trying to stir things up to generate conflict or someone who's caught up in a swarm of toxic positivity. I spend a lot of time on the subreddit, it's not like your assumptions of my viewpoint were unfounded. There are tons of people on the subreddit who seem to only be there because they hate the game and want to keep hating it for any reason that they can justify. Some people will just make up things for the sake of making things sound worse than they actually are. Just recently I got into an argument with someone who hated that humans were a part of the game, and insisted that not only have the devs been focusing the majority of their resources on them since the progression era, but that they're already ruining the game by somehow being overpopulated on the official servers. The official servers where humans are turned off by default. Regardless of your stance on humans in the game, I'm sure you can agree that was just an outright lie made to justify complaining. The subreddit can be tiring at times, but at the same time, I feel like it's the place where the criticisms on the game can be most open and to the point and you won't be banned for disagreeing with a decision that the devs have made. I tend to view it as the opposite side of the coin that is shared with the Official discord, where there are people who will immediately write you off as a hater who is just there to complain if you voice a single valid criticism. The subreddit has toxic negativity, the official discord has toxic positivity. Honestly, I think the main thing that worried me and that I was struggling to articulate when Gali was announced to also be coming to update 6.5 was that one of the biggest problems that has plagued this game throughout its history is overambition. The devs biting off more than they can chew with something. Dondi's insistence that he wants AI that will be indistinguishable from a human player in this indie game when even a good Triple-A game is going to struggle to pull that off. Or the entire mess with Isla Spero and how we ended up with Isla Spiro as we have it right now. As far as I can remember since I first started playing the game in 2017, this is the most playables that they've ever added in a single update to date, since the game's original release into early access, anyway. Update 2 added 3 playables, and that update wasn't coinciding with a port to a new engine, and the update was in a very similar position of looking very close to done before the devs went on their winter holiday break, but then when they came back from it, the update suddenly slowed to a crawl and ended up taking 2/3 months longer than people were expecting with how close to done Ptera and Deino were. Update 6.5 is in a very similar position. Update that looked almost done, devs go on winter holiday break, then when they came back, it seemed like everything suddenly slowed down, but this time new content kept getting stacked on top of an the update rather than it just taking longer than expected to finish what was already there. And without the knowledge that the update was basically just waiting for Stress-testing when I made my post, my only assumption was "oh god, please stop, the update's going to take forever if you keep adding more stuff to it and I just want Troodon and Beipi in the game so they can start working on the elder system and get closer to the point where it becomes more reasonable to pump out as many playables as possible. I also appreciate that you're taking your time to actually acknowledge the misunderstanding. Sometimes when I make a post trying to clear things up, the response is an increase in hostility and or just choosing to ignore it outright. Thank you for taking the time to hear me out, I always like it when a disagreement between people can be resolved civilly like this, it's something that there's really not enough of anywhere on the internet these days.

A running joke with my friends is "NO NEW DINOS?" every time we look at the game. Im happy for 4 of them, itll make this game much less boring, especially for Stego mains just because they are almost untouchable (in my experience at least). Playing new stuff will be refreshing and the new dinos will add a new learning curve for the old ones. I can not wrap my head around the "more is bad" mantra these people are talking about. Like sure, we could have seen half this update a little sooner perhaps, but does that really matter? Its done, players who got bored and uninstalled may never come back and that will diminish the community a little. But Im sure way more people are excited for 4 dinos coming out than those that have straight up left. And besides, its not like I wont be stuck on that DAMN LOADING SCREEN, CLICKING NA SERVERS RAVONOUSLY WHILE GETTING BOOTED TO THE MAIN MENU 100 TIMES AFTER THIS DROPS ANYWAY!

I’d prefer they all be released at the same time, but it absolutely better be all flushed out and it better be released by mid April. Any huge bugs and I’m done with this buggy ass game forever. Also yeah, definitely a certified isle dev moment.

funny how many isle players always complain about the lack of dinosaurs in the game and now we finally get 4 new dinoaurs in one update, how the fuck can some people still complain?

well to be fair considering how much of a complete fail dryo was and still is (sorry to the 4 dryo mains out their) I think its more then fair to say that adding galli could prove to much for the devs to handle on top of the 3 others to get right at launch, sure they can add it but will they do them justice who knows? given the year and a half wait tho you sure would expect these new guys to be awesome on release right?

So the isle is pretty negative a lot of the time. (Imo can't blame it with alllll the history of the game) But these reddit posts feel like when a kid tries to weigh in on a complex ethics or political discussion without knowing what their really saying. Kind of like they're being negative just to be like "yes yes I too am part of the community! This is what we do, right?". I'm excited for this update. Though with a healthy dose of caution but not that weird negativity. At the same time it's from reddit so the opinion is about as useful as a used tissue.

Yeah gali is def gonn make this up come in 2024 for suuuuure, too overpacked, so trash (this is sarcasm)

Isle community moment: Game has mechanic update = bad devs ,horrible game, don't buy it! Game has a dino update = bad devs, amazing game, best dinogame ever! This keeps happening btw. The isle goes to a little bit of a slow period and the whole community gets their pitchforks. It's like they don't learn. This is the isle style. It repeats.

Peeps really getting worried for them adding dinos, after not adding anything for over a year lol.

i mean sure the new dinos are nice and all but as soon as the honeymoon fomo dies out the game is still be a mess unless they make some drastic changes , mixpacking and megapacking still rampant , hackers are still going unpunished and the game still runs like shit. and yeah i get it , i too want to just be positive about this game but they gonna have to do more then just throw flashy new dinosaurs in my face to distract from the issues they continue to ignore

@@Orni-Mega-Lonyx It does, but 5$ any account hack clients aren't exactly good for the game. It's more of a quantity thing, but the anticheat still works on all prior hack clients, it's just the new workarounds that are, as always, the issue.

These people sound like they are trying their absolute best to find something negative about these news and it's hilarious

I dont agree with this guy but I feel if they release all of them at once after a while the game will feel stale. But then again I dont the isle I play PoT and sometimes when they release multiple dinos it's cool at first then gets stale. And if you release so many thing it COULD mean than it will be a long time til a new dino comes out. I feel that they should 2 now and in like 1 or 2 months release another 2 so it extends the excitment.

the problem with that is,in 1 or 2 months there probs wont be another up date after 6.5. so they probs wont just add a dino,they;ll probs wait until u7.
