IMPORTANT UPDATE (copy and pasted directly from the gofundme) Hello, everyone. This is Habit's husband Ty (also known as DigitalTy online) writing what is possibly the last thing Habit or I would ever want to write. However, things have been very difficult for Habit and we have had to make changes to how we run this fundraiser. To make a long story short, in September a family member of Habit's wound up stealing a good majority of Habit's money, which included money we raised here, for gambling. The first thing I want to make clear is that gambling addictions are horrible, and a disease that I wouldn't wish upon anyone. Habit and their family have discussed and the perpetrator is doing everything they can to make sure this does not happen again, let alone to Habit's own money. Fortunately, that hasn't happened. Unfortunately, Habit's job has frequently cut hours, and the hours Habit can work are often cut short due to mental and physical illnesses. Keep in mind that the money sent over from this gofundme has blended in with Habit's personal finances, and there have been weeks where Habit has only worked one day at most due to the reasons I just listed. Having to use fundraiser money for personal reasons was the last thing either of us have wanted out of this situation, and for that they cannot apologize enough. The intention for the money we have raised was used STRICTLY to pay off Habit's college fund, and frankly we bit off way more than we can chew. So we decided to make two big changes to this fundraiser. The first change is to expand the stretch goal from $10,448, to $12,000. We did not lose ALL of the money, thankfully. The extra jump is for insurance just in case something like this happens again (hopefully it will not). We will also be working as much and hard as possible to make sure we can pay back the losses. The second change, one you might have picked up on, is that Habit has given me complete control over the fundraiser. My income is at least more stable, and I made a second saving's account strictly to hold the gofundme money going forward, never to be touched. Habit doesn't want to make excuses, and I don't want to make excuses for them. We have made many mistakes going into this fundraiser. In fact, Habit will admit they made the fundraiser out of panic because, well $10k is a lot to pay off for anyone. And having to admit we lost a lot of money donated by dozens of generous people is not an easy thing to come to terms with. But as the old saying goes, if it were easy, everyone would be doing it. I'm sorry. Habit is sorry. We have handled this fundraiser clumsily and we will do better going forward. Thank you for spreading the word, and Habit and I both promise to make up for the losses. I'm gonna join the membership and honestly wished you did it earlier. I've been watching you from back in the commentary days and your content style and overall editing has helped to shape me and my whole png-avatar thing that I do. Your content has been influential on how I write and set up videos even if it's weather documentaries in my case. Once my paycheck comes in near the end of the month, I'll properly donate to the go fund me. As a college student, stay the hell away from private universities and stick to public ones if possible. Although I have a feeling you already know that. I'm sorry you are going through this and it definitely sucks A LOT.
