I thought I was going to watch Mario do Alexis’ make up but I came here to heal and to cry like never before. Make up is such a beautiful thing.

I'm the mother of a gay son and the most important thing to me was to ensure he always knew he was loved for who he is, and that he know he's allowed to pursue his own dreams and his true self. Hearing about your struggles to be accepted as your true selves really hit home for me. Thank you to all of you for sharing such personal experiences.

This is a wonderful video. I am really touched that the makeup almost just took a backstage to the conversation, but just like in life you got to this full circle conclusion… and you walked away knowing more, understanding more, and feeling beautiful for so many reasons.

I always get a shock at how young Mario is!!! I did a silent squeal when I saw this, it just seems like yesterday I saw you swatch the first Mario product I had seen and I have followed you wonderful ladies, ever since 💄💄❤️❤️🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍🌈

OMG, I am going to fall over. Especially after the explanation of that palette, and then explanation of his first makeup look at Sephora. The beauty of makeup.

He explained about the evolution of skin tones so simply and why nature did what it did to protect us. They should teach that in schools it might stop so much racism. How can anyone not love Mario🫶

I also used beauty to inspire me growing up in an extremely dysfunctional home setting. This discussion is so powerful on so many levels. So many traditional families see makeup & the beauty industry as a form of “joining the circus”-something not to be taken seriously as an industry whether its how they view hairstylists, makeup artists, estheticians or nail techs or how they view those who work in formulation of products! Not sure if they see it as contributing to vanity (once seen as a bad thing) or its frivolous compared to more “serious” careers, not acknowledging the artistic theories & techniques behind it. But it’s a global multibillion dollar industry that employs so many people as well as brings joy to the consumer on an individual basis. Thank you all for elevating our industry, showing that knowledge & professionalism can exist in creative careers but also being such great role models for success in the lgbtqia+ communities.

This seemed like it was beyond healing, and thank you for sharing a bit of your coming out story. Its quite similar to mine where i used to use my femininity to please the male gaze and overall what society expected from me. Im glad i came across the video

I love this video so much. Both of your stories are so brave and beautiful, and both of your responses to 12 year olds loving makeup touches my soul. I'm a mother of a 12 year old who is really getting into makeup because she sees how much joy it brings me, and I love that we can bond and communicate on this level and share the joy and fun that makeup brings to our lives. Thank you both so much for being open and honest with the world!

Honestly I found this video at exactly the time I needed to....I'm bisexual, polyamorous, nonbinary, and disabled, and it's hard sometimes to live with that intersectionality. I use my makeup to express myself in ways that make me feel genuine and happy and free for myself, and I've recently been facing a lot of stigma from people around me, and getting to see this video, watching these two brilliant inspirations talk about how we can find a place for ourselves in the world where we fit in and we belong, that's exactly what I needed today. Thank you for helping inspire me to continue to stay and to fight and to stand up and be who I want to be and who I feel happiest being. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing this piece of who you both are and what inspired you to be the best in the industry. As I hear you talk about your childhood and what you went through, everyone wanting you to suppress who you are, I completely and totally resonate with that. I’m a bit older than you and didn’t have anywhere to go or anyone I could go to so I could let myself be me. We were a mixed household - my mother is from Spain and my father American military. We grew up in Spain but in the US we moved around too much to set any roots. I learned not to make friends. Mother was too critical of everyone for me to be comfortable to make friends. Family in Spain didn’t care for me and my brother because weren’t totally Spaniards. I do consider Spain more home than the US but I still don’t fit with either. Now that I’m 56, I still don’t know who I am but find that I am drawn to things I never would have thought I would be drawn to. Here’s to the continued journey for all. Cheers!

Sooo cool.. I was watching Mario’s brush hand when he did your foundation . Looks like he had two different colors on the pallet .. it appeared he dipped in the darker and then the lighter….. Blending the foundation into the brush by couple of quick swirls on the back of his hand… then he applied… and applied…. with quick lil brush strokes …..and more lil strokes…..and more quick lil strokes . I will now be Mario’s assistant and follow his technique and I’m sure my base is going to be as beautiful as yours 😉. Really cool video .. thank you for sharing

I think he also mentioned he doesn't put foundation around the perimeter because he puts the bronzer/contour there. That's artistry!

You look freaking amazing! Mario, has such a beautiful story to tell through his make up. He seems like a salt of the Earth type of guy. Your story is valid too. I remember when my younger sister was going to come out to our dad. I was worried sick because I wasn’t sure how he was going to react. Thankfully, he was accepting. If he wasn’t I would went off on him. It saddens me that some parents kick their kids out of their homes simple for being gay, trans, or lesbian.
