    that was great tennis guys! Congrats, Dill, well deserved!!! You both served big (73% 1st serve % for Mark, 67% for Dill, 10 serve winners vs 9). Biggest difference was Mark only won 35% of 2nd serve points, Dill 68%. Mark won 14/19 (74%) at the net, Dill 18/33 (55%). I loved Dill's S&V where he won 6/9 points. Mark had more unforced errors, especially on the forehand (18) vs 7. Interestingly, 14 out of those 18 forehand errors were on Mark's service games. Generous line call at 24:49 but I can understand how Dill didn't want to finish such a great match with a line call that wasn't 120% 👏 16:27 was close as well - but if you don't see it clearly out it's in 👏 Great fight, great match, thanks guys!

    Surprised it was so close given the UTR difference But seems like point to point Marks level can change dramatically. Biggest difference I notice was Dillon is taking balls earlier and hitting from the front foot where Mark almost always hits of the back foot and loses a lot of power/consistency

  • @jeffhermida4788

    @jeffhermida4788

    closeness could be that this was a practice match. Both guys looked loose out there. Probably if they played against each other in a tournament they would be a little tight. but you're right about mark taking steps backwards and then striking the ball, whereas dill was stepping in and hitting early, especially on his bh. very entertaining match.

  • @HeavyTopspin

    @HeavyTopspin

    UTR doesn't account for the fact that styles make matches. If your strengths line up with your opponent's weaknesses, you can absolutely beat a higher-rated player, as it's not as if that rating comes from only playing one another - as was shown that Will crushed Mark, then lost to Dill, but Mark played Dill close.

    Na this utr warrants 6-0 6-0 , 6-2 6-1 range. Practice match or not, the difference between 2 are too slim both in terms of scores and techniques shown in the video. I think Mark can play close to utr 10 when he is fit . His utr is low because he is not consistent due to lack of practice or something .

I have been watching a lot of Mark's matches on the KZread channel he is a part of and he has looked a little flat lately, but he was in solid form for this match and a straight set win is no small feet against a player of his quality. also last thing i would say is you look much better pushing through the ball. When I say " pushing" I don't mean it in a bad way, I played DIII at Claremont so I'm not one of these random trolls on the internet that has anything bad to say about "pushing". But i'd say the way you're controlling pace looks great, in other words you could just be brushing up mach ten to the sky, grinding, but the way you push through the ball is something alot of rec players could learn from.

    The main difference I saw: baseline rallies they were pretty even, with maybe even a slight advantage to Mark. But Dill's willingness to approach the net at any opportunity (and hit excellent approaches!) just allowed him to win so many quick points. Mark, you need to work with Ian on that because if you added that to your game you'd be an absolute beast. BWEH!

    Are you crazy? Mark comes to net a TON. It's just that many of his approach shots are poor and he thinks that the intimidation factor alone will win the point. He's lucky he doesn't get passed a lot more. The biggest hole I see in Mark's game (other than his slice backhand pusher style) is his serve. It's powerful "enough", but he leaves a lot on the table because his toss is so far behind him and his foot always lands off to the left, forcing him off balance.

    I remember watching your channel a few years ago, and I'll say that you are better now in 2 ways: 1. Serve, you just have more acceleration now. Before I could kinda tell what serve you were going to hit. Now its not easy to see what's gonna come out of you aka, there's more acceleration. 2. Footwork is definitely better. Less being planted to the ground in such a way that I know what you're gonna do. 3. It just looks like you don't have to do too much to be in control. aka I can tell if you're going to win the point once the rally starts cause you're not really redlining ever.

    One difference that I noticed was that Dill was aggressively taking Mark off the court when he saw an opening, forcing Mark to defend from the alley or even outside the alley. Mark continued to hit through the court and Dillon could reach more balls within the singles lines. Dill opened up angles better and used them to pressure Mark. A great match that was well-played by both guys.

    UTR has Dillon as a 10.7 and Mark as an 8.58 that’s a 2pt difference not a 1.3……. So with the result being a straight set win 4&4 for Dill is pretty much what you should see given their UTRs., usually with a 1 point differential you may see a third set or even a straight set with a tiebreak , both guys played well this was a fun match!! @@MarkSansait UTR is not a perfect science that’s for sure, it is results oriented only, the more you play the more accurate your rating may be, but it def fluctuates, I’ve known guys who have held an 11 UTR and a year later dropped to a 10 because they hav only had a couple results in that time span…. The new WTN is interesting I need to research that one…any thoughts on WTN

    All courts are the same dimension so it's not much of an adjustment realistically. Your eye should be on the ball when you're striking anyways while you mentally should be going for and visualizing your target which gives a spread of where the ball should land.
