Yes we know technically Thorogoods are already work boots, but now they're Nicks Work Boots! This rebuild strayed even further than most of ours do from the original, we wanted this one to be drastic, from celastic toe wedge sole to a moc-toe lug sole! And it looks great.
While most boots are meant to be thrown away after a few months, Nicks are built to last. When your boots start to need some servicing, you can send them in to have them resoled or completely rebuilt! Nicks Handmade Boots are serviceable and last years longer than a mass-produced boot. Since 1964, Nicks has been making the highest quality boots on the market, right here in Spokane Washington. If you're tired of your old work boots wearing out, upgrade to Nicks and enjoy the most comfortable boots on the market.

This comment section is full of a lot of folks who don't understand that most businesses have multiple departments for things like advertising and public relations (this is that kind of video) and standard factory operations. If you think this video production is getting in the way of someone else making your boots, you're most likely mistaken.

This video is an excellent means of explaining the cost of boot rebuilds, given the skills of various craftsmen. It is also an example of turning a sow's ear into an "almost" silk purse. This hybrid has a different character and I wonder at the longevity of the wear in the long run, and at the weakness of the comfortably worn upper and the sturdy, new eyelets. I have a strong dislike of the flanged inner eyelets on the inside of the upper because they shred laces. The solid ring version avoids this form of wear. Thank you, and congratulations for sharing this remarkable project. Your title has drawn curiosity and lingering to watch the project. Viewers' earlier comments have clearly shown interest in this rebuild. Bravo to those craftsmen.

Kinda seems like the differing pliability between the old (possibly lower quality) leather upper and the new parts would create weird differential stress points and shearing effects due to the leather not flexing as a unit. Just pulling that out of my ass but who knows. I do know it does not make sense to spend $600 resoling a $250 pair of boots lol

I don't see how this kind of extreme recrafting could ever be worth it except as a youtube stunt. I mean the only thing left of the original boots is a few leather pieces from the uppers -- and it would be far less time consuming to just cut those pieces new rather than deconstruct an entire boot for them. You could probably buy two or three new pairs of Thorogoods for what this cost.

I'm watching this with a pair of these 4364's on my feet. I love the upgraded quality you gave them, but it's a shame you turned these excellent plain toes into a moc toe. you turned them into a great moc toe, but the 4364 is something a bit unique. None of the other more affordable mass produced boot companies make an 8" lace up plain toe wedge sole boot here in the US. I certainly understand the faults with them, but they are a good value and do a lot of things right for a boot of this price range. They have their priorities straight, decent longevity and comfort out of the box when it comes to their tobacco brown leather. I haven't had quite the same experience with my 6" moc toes, but I don't know it the difference comes from the toe the 6" height or the different black leather.

It's either one year all the time at construction or few years of being handyman. Hard to tell, really depends on where you wear them, do you use only one pair or more, do you take care of them, do you clean it regularly, do you apply conditioners or mink oil twice a year, do you store it at dry place with no UV going in, etc. In my experience, I had some heritage handmade full grain leather shoes with plain toe maid in Czech Republic (custom made) for pretty cheap price of like 150 euros, 7 years and still going well, just have to resole them but I don't trust anyone in the area to give it to them. But also, I have some Ariat's that I was wearing at work for one year and had to threw them away because restoring them would be like full price of buying a new one for the same price. But I wore them all day any day.

I’m very picky about boots and my biggest issue is that there aren’t many quality work boots that are light, majority are heavy and many unnecessarily heavy. I feel I’m at a point in my life where I don’t want to have 5lbs of leather swinging off each foot with every step I take, I’m tired when I leave work and the very last thing I want to do is have on heavy boots. Why in the world do these boots need the soles glued, stitched, nailed and screwed?? It’s unnecessary weight! I bet these boots have killer longevity and are of a high quality but I bet they’re so incredibly heavy and hard to break in that I would just never wear them and they’re not even a steel toe.
