We Made a "Vintage" RFID Blocking Leather Wallet
Making leather products by hand is an old world artisanal craft... but that doesn't mean you can't keep up with technology! This wallet is made with stainless steel fabric to block RFID scanners. We embedded the stainless steel mesh between layers of leather in the exterior shell and interior pocket. The nice thing about this fabric is that it provides a bit of structure, so you're able to use nice tumbled vegetable tanned leather for a classic, vintage look while secretly holds the newest wallet technology :) This wallet was completely hand made with tools from our sponsor Weaver Leather and sewn using a saddle stitch.
Happy Crafting :)

Another excellent piece!
Это же надо сколько труда в него вложено , а с виду такой простой. 👍 Терпения тебе мужик. У меня его не хватило))))
Absolutely great! 👌👌👌👌
It's very calming.
Interesting design. I like that edger a lot haha.
I love the rustic look of that leather
Love your work.
look at it mesmerizing
Lovely
Awesome!!
Hi, an aluminium foil does also the job, I did a card case with it and no NFC signal pass through :)

Seems like foil would make sounds when handling it, yes, no?? Or bend in wierd ways that would make the leather mess up. Let me know if not, that would be the cheaper way to go.

@@wanderinglavender9324 I seriously doubt it will make any noise if it's well glued.
I get many ideas from u r Vid n u r video is great to watch n no human sound🙏 from small state SIKKIM
Nice work brother
I like the sewing part 🙂
I use RFID fabric behind card slots in the fabric wallets I make.
👍 nice
Bellissima 😊
Ah, a Faraday Cage Wallet. Neat.
Very cool wallet, I'm new to leatherwork and was wondering if you ever thought of making an apron. Thank you!!!
I understand u want lightweight & flexible for rfid blocker/ Faraday cage, I'll ask you go look for copper sheeting or mesh it's out there & will give better results than S.S. mesh as far as signal interruption/ protection
Hello! Just came across this video. Would you tell us what leather you used and what thickness? It looks so soft and easy to work with. Thank you
Would adding the steel fabric to most designs work?
This is really great, Do you have a link to the stainless steel mesh that you have used for this rfid-blocking wallet????

Great. Now I want prime rib.
What sciving knife do you use?
Corter leather: 0:06 Me: uses plain paper instead of card stock and wrinkle and tears it instead of getting a clean cut.
Please make some small zip around wallets!!
I don't see the pattern in the shop. How can I get?
Will you upload the pattern?
Is this product available in your site??
How many times have u cut urself wisping away the scrap while cutting... not that I ever have just asking.
can you use aluminium foil in place of the steel fabric?
@gregh4284

Yes. I found that AF blocks phone signals and library scanners both of which use RFID. I used 2 layers if foil. IDK if one layer works-havent tested 1 layer.
Like!
👍🏻
Are you using Vinymo Thread, or have you found a decent poly thread somewhere else? And what size? I normally use flat threads, like Tiger .8mm, but I'm loving the way your stitches look with that round thread!

We use a bunch of different stuff - Tiger, Vinymo, Crimson, Maine Thread :)

@@Corter I was thinking of trying Maine next, lots of colors. Not sure which one is comparable so a .8mm flat thread though.
What glue do you use on your pieces?

I've been doing leather for years. Depends on what I'm doing, but a good contact cement like weldwood works just fine. It appears to be what is being used.
This Wallet is not shown in the patterns link
FYI the link to Weaver opens a blank page for me on Chrome mobile
That editing tho
I can't find the stainless steel fabric? anyone has seen it around ?

You can find it on Amazon. Just google for RFID blocking fabric.
beautifully! How long does it take?
May I ask , Can we you use the same method with vegan leather (good vegan leather) or faux leather (but again good quality) ? Thank you 😊
Hi, I was wondering what RFID means. I haven't watched the whole video yet so you may explain there. Thanks.

Radio Frequency IDentification. The "chip" in your credit card. There are hand held devices to read the information contained on the chip. It's becoming the most common form of identity theft.
Have you ever made a bag just like Daniel Boone holds all his black powder bag 💼

It’s in case of fraud and it can happen but you could also just put cards on top of each other to mess the signal up
@psychalogy
3 жыл бұрын
@@RealGalaxyGamers doesn’t work, card readers can just read each different card then. Has happened here with people not taking cards out of their wallets to scan on and off busses. They found they’d been charged multiple times, once on each card they carried, for the same trip. I’d feel more comfortable with the mesh.
A Faraday cage has to make contact 360°; yours does NOT! Fail.
Nice video. However, RFID blocking is really a non-issue. In the US, there has never been even one documented case of such a crime, and most credit card companies moved away from RFID technology several years ago.

Ngl i think most people know this, but there's a market for people who do/will buy it anyway, so why not fill the demand :)
Why RFID when there is no threat there? It’s as bad as the Y2K bug we were all supposed to get hit by. Yet another money making scheme by everyone selling RFID gear. LOL. BTW, I love your gear. I still have a Shell #8 wallet from you that I got years ago. Awesome colours running through that #8 Shell. 👊🏻👍🏻😀

Watch the modern rogue on stealing credit card info.
Just an FYI. I'm not a fan of non-verbal videos. I will never watch them.
Pratically leather crafting is repeating the same basic operations over and over, having the proper tools. Anyway this small wallet/bag is unpratical for credit cards and you have to fold your money before to place then in (you risk to drop some as soon you grab the roll)
