His taste perfectly demonstrates why I'm usually reluctant to reveal that I'm a software engineer to non-tech people and whenever I do, I will add some disclaimer like "But I don't conform to the stereotype. Otherwise I probably wouldn't be here..." ;)
What I forgot to mention was the odd sight the next morning of going down to breakfast in the hotel to find Shaggy at the table next to me. --Matt

The chord progression that It Wasn't Me and Let It Be share is originally from Pachabel's Canon. I think it's around three hundred years old and LOADS of songs took that chord progression. This includes Sk8r Boy by Avril Lavign and Welcome To The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance

@@michi4066 As a person born at the end of the 80s, I'm frankly not surprised you feel that way - I think the interconnectedness and vastness of the internet kind of broke down the shared experience. At least in this respect. For me personally it's a good thing because when my classmates were listening to whatever was on the radio in the 90s, I was listening to Creedence Cleareater Revival... so the internet allowing a lot more people to discover old music and obscure little bands makes me feel far less like an outsider than I did growing up. (I still knew some of the bands mentioned here and it did make me smile, but I think that's largely because back then I discovered those songs through _friends.)_

I notice you were quite close to the front during that concert footage. Were you actually meant to be there this time or was this another case of being shoved to the front and not fessing up?
Best huge gig I've been to was Iron Maiden at Ullevi, Gothenburg. Those guys know how to put on a show. 34 000 people singing along to all the songs really made my hairs stand on end. Sabaton opening made it that much more amazing. Best small gig was D'espairsRay at Fryshuset, Stockholm. The energy at that show was absolutely amazing. I nearly got my nose broken by an over eager mosher, who felt his elbow would look nice in my face, and didn't care for a second.
A few years fashionably late, it makes me really happy to know these guys like happy hardcore.
THE PAINTED COOOOWWWW!!!!! *cough*, sorry, strange Scooter flashback...
As a german: I'm surprised that Scooter is better selling than Rammstein. Because i know that Rammstein is relatively well known and kinda famous in America as well. And very well known in Russia. But then again, Scooter has english lyrics...

I would have thought the Scorpions but yeah, definitely know Rammstein over Scooter.
Cotton Eye Joe was my favorite song when I was a little kid, I haven't heard that song in years. I remember my step dad used to play it everyday before he dropped me off at school, I would sing along and walk into school singing the song. Mambo #5 was another of my favorites, I remember jammin to that with my whole family. Shaggy is still one of my favorites, I love his music. This whole video just took me back to being a little kid, and it brought up so many memories I haven't thought about for years. This video is something I needed so thanks for making me remember how awesome my childhood was.
I think this may be one of your best park bench video. Love Genius.
"Are you guys seriously recording yourself?" I wish you answered "No, we are just pretending to."
"No one's goin'a watch it." Over 1,500 views in under two hours.
Love how Matt is talking 90s europop in an Enter Shikari t shirt. You sir have broad interests in music :D
As Spitting Image said of 2 Unlimited's No Limt, “No no, no no no no, no no no no, no no, there's no lyrics!” A company called Genius makes gluten-free products. Was that guy Genius _planted_ there?! ;) And breaded wheat sounds lovely! Great video as always. As an 80s and 90s child, I really enjoyed this.
Why has it taken me this long to discover MoPed? This has made my Tuesday a million times better
Aah, this brings back memories. Good to know it's still a thing. Some Sash and Antiloop and it would all have been complete

Particularly as the ones they do mention were from his second wind of fame in 2001/2 so not even from the nineties. There again very few Brits noticed Scooter until they had their best known hit The Logical Song in 2002 or else their other well known one Jumping All Over The World in 2008.
scooter! man that takes me back to the rave years in England, back in the UK, how much is the fish. so good.
i have very fond memories of Scooter. Its something that both my Dad and I would sing at the top of our voices in the CAr scaring passers by :) Also...once whistling Dave is in your head, its there FOREVER

and you'd be right. scorpions have outsold scooter by roughly 70 million records rammstein have also outsold scooter, but the margin is much tighter, only a few million records more.
Oh man, I would've LOVED this! I, too, grew up in the nineties. When Matt said "Good morning!" I immediately knew who he meant! I can't have a playlist of favourite songs without some nineties in there, regardless of genre!
E-Type is the only "famous" person I have ever recognised randomly out on the street doing their shopping/whatever. When I lived in Stockholm.
That sounds like the single greatest gig of all time, jealous doesn't even cut it.
I was at We Love The 90's in Oslo and it was really awesome too. I didn't even realise how many of the songs I would know.
Oh, Tom Scott Europop reviews? Time for me to get back on the Vengabus.
'It Wasn't me' was real eased in the noughties.

*released
Scooter I know best from 'How Much Is The Fish', the base is from a Breton folksong, 'Son ar Christr', which had a German (and Dutch) remake as 'What shall we drink' in either language in the 70s. And of course, as a Belgian, 2 Unlimited was all over the place in my teenage years. Ever heard of the Confettis, and 'The Sound Of C'? It's a bit earlier, more late 80s than 90s.
(Heavy Yorks accent) Techno, techno, techno notice
I spent a lot of my musically formative years (early 2000's) hating Scooter on principle after styling myself as a mosher (now there's an archaic label). It was only later I learned to stop worrying and love the ridiculousness. They should do a special release of Weetabix wrapped in Shredded Wheat under the name Breaded Wheat, I think it's got legs.

Scooter, that band that you want to hate, but cant help smiling every time you hear their stupid noise :)
Rewatching these, I love Matts T-shirts
Damn, the '90s! I has at a live performance of Alice DJ, T Spoon and 2 unlimitied just a few months ago. Memory lane, there I was!
As soon as you said 90s i instantly thought, Scooter. XD Love it.
Oh sweet, E-type! He lived in the same area of Stockholm I grew up in so I have seen him wandering around lots of times, even if I have never been to a concert. I think his children went to my primary school, but I am a few years older.
Tom is right that Shaggy/Beatles mashup might be one of the greatest mashups of all time, I should know this is like the first one I've listened to in years.
i loved the video, especially the ending! i thought that was genius!
Surprisingly I actually did know who Scooter was! I've heard one song of theirs: The Logical Song, and that's it XD
Scooter needs to come to America, I will drive thousands of miles to see them.
That bit at the end must be karma for the breaking the news thing you did. 😂
Loving the pony tail on Tom in the Europlop image.
Ok... I know and enjoyed a lot of those artists too, didn't expect that. O.o
This sounds like an awesome concert. 😂💜
Did this seriously start with Tom of all people accusing someone else of flailing? Edit: 7:39, knew it happen at some point!
Sounds like the only one missing from that gig in Norway was DJ Bobo. Or maybe Marusha as well? Oh, the stuff we listened to when we were young...
Did ya know Tom, man, dat was Genius!
I read Europlop and I love it!
Hahaha, I actually do the same thing when I land in the UK. I even phone my mother with that line some times because she knows the song as well! also, some Dutch export there: 2 unlimited, alice dj..nice
Haha, Tom tricking everyone into thinking they need to look to the right with the video actually still being on the left.
When I was young it seemed that life was so wonderful...
Tom assumes Fair Use means anything on KZread and it's the funniest gag in this video
As a Canadian, you better believe I know what Scooter is. I love them!
I must say i envy your ability to stay so cool when "genious" started talking to you.
Oh Tim's back
currently watching this in my hometown of Stavanger
My dad missed a party with the members of Pink Floyd (personally invited him, too) for a wedding...so don't get too down on yourself for missing Scooter
I am an American and discovered HP Baxxter because he has recorded some books on audio. After that, I discovered Scooter.
I was in Stavanger when this video was made. Unfortunately not when you were actually there.
great line-up :D
I loved everything about this video. It's 3am, at the painted cow.
Oh thank the stars I'm not the only person who loves Moped!
I remember and love all those songs from when I was a kid. Except Shaggy. I just never liked Shaggy. But I've definitely heard of Scooter. Shake That! is a great song. Much better than the original sample.
You've got to watch a show by DJ Bobo! I don't anybody who likes his music but everybody says his shows were some of the absolute best they've ever seen.
I like this guy Tim.
Genius!
HYPER, HYPER!
Time to buy some 120 dBa capable mike. That Rednex part had to be so heavily processed by my brain that I manage to recognise that there's some music in all that distortion only on the second listen.
"The Cartoons" are a great '90 band/group too :D
every time i am in the UK i get song in my head :)
We heart 90s is on stage around here on a regular basis,
I do not know about these musicians because I am american and young but this is still a good video
I found some great tunes through that site.
Alice Deejay!? That's awesome! I know Scooter from Piggus's Gmod music videos. Chile Bowl!
It is official: these people have good taste in music.
I alson love 90s europop (and i love 80s music as well)
HYPER HYPER
I'm from South Dakota. One day I found The Logical Song and Behind the cow, and then Scooter became maybe a quarter of my mp3 players storage.
I love how Matt had to check if they were actually on a park bench.
"We need to explain Scooter to the Americans." Oh no, Tom. High school me still likes it loud, still feels hardcore.
What's up with you guys and Norway?
