We Love It In Seattle
Музыка
In the early 90's 93.3 KUBE put together a song and video to cover various events in Seattle history. The song is set to the tune of Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start The Fire" Of course this was back when KUBE played good music. This video was a collaboration between KUBE and Evening Magazine not Almost Live

Seattle is the Best City in the USA hands down. The location alone cannot be beat.
I should add that I'm from California, but I honestly do LOVE it in Seattle. Practically all of my extended family lives there and I'm always so happy when I get to go visit them. I hear a lot of people complain about the weather, but I love rain and think I'd be happy living there. I wish I'd grown up in WA too, and not just my older sisters!
From a true Seattle-ite who now lives in California - THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!
I haven't heard this in years! Imagine an update: Safeco Field, EMP, Sonics want a new Key. If we lose the Viaduct, we are all sincerely fu... Uhh, scratch the update. hehe
My late father absolutely ate this up when it came out in the early 90s and he wasn’t easily impressed. What fun to see it again.
Lived in Seattle my entire life up until moving to the Midwest 4 months ago. This video brings back a lot of great childhood memories. Thank you for posting it .
I miss my old Seattle!
ha! i love kube93, i always listen to this in the car!
I have been looking for this video for soo long, i am glad someone posted it! I am too young to know the name of the original song, so that's probably why it took so long to find this :) thanks!
Hell! They OWN the place now! Welcome to Seattle, California!
Perfect ❤
Love it!❤❤❤
This is awesome. Someone should make an updated version!

Amazon taking over--homeless people taking cover.
Awesome video! Although I've never lived in Seattle, I grew up east of Seattle, in Kirkland, I feel some connection to the city.
Very cool that you put this on here! My sisters and family (all but me, sadly) grew up in Seattle and we have a VHS tape of this very thing! I was sorting through old VHS's last night and came across it and of course watched. I was curious to see if it was on KZread.... and here it is! We've all loved this song/video for yeaaaaaaaars!
OMG I looked this up on a whim, hubby and I were taking about getting the VHS tape out. THIS MADE OUR DAY, WEEK, MONTH! THANK YOU, thank you, thank you, for posting this!!
That's funny I have this on VHS.... Never thought that Id see it on you tube... I even contacted KUBE about remastering the tape.
I have this on cassette. I really need to transfer it to MP3 one of these days...
I live in Kent, 18 miles south of Seattle, Seattle is basically the same it has always been, minus the coffee.
@MBigDaddyM Holy crap, someone else still has their cassette? Do you still have your KUBE KLUB card?
I love this and I love the character that shows up at 1:39
Use to live in Seattle! Wow, this as 1989?? Ha...I remember this! Funny as Heck! Yeah, KUBE use to be cool!
I love Seattle though its diffrent then it was before. the arts in seattle have changed for the better u cant beat the feeling you get walking down the streets of seattle

Do you still feel that way?
@Brad1711 "Unfortunately it was in the Islands that the (ferry) Elwha would began to develop an unsavory reputation. Perhaps the most famous incident for the vessel happened in 1983 when her captain “discovered” an uncharted rock in Grindstone Harbor while showing a female passenger what her home looked like from the water. The event, while hardly comic as it resulted in a tear in the Elwha’s hull did have some soap opera-like qualities to it.
Wow. I had a teacher in fifth grade who had us listen VERY carefully to try to hear as many lyrics as possible so that she could put together a ditto from which we might sing it. It was YEARS before I heard the original WDSTF so when it didn't mention Husky Stadium collapsing I felt slighted.
You said it! Seattle used to be WAY better than it is now. Yuppie metropolis. Seattle lost it's pulse, after the Kingdome was blown up.
I'd say very early 90's. Stylistically it seems more 80s. Nice to see things I fondly remember.

Dennis Nyback Largent retired in ‘89, the same year We Didn’t Start the Fire came out.
@RSCII amen. finally someone tells the truth about this cesspool. we should hang out.
California transplant here. And I hate LA. Moved here to get away from it. But dangit, it's a little chilly today. This was a fun video. Corny, as expected (hey, it was 1990), but shows some of the things that makes Seattle the best place to live. Now let's go get a cup of coffee, shall we?
California movin' in.... it's the reason I moved out after living there my entire life. I just hope they don't move to where i now live.
@kobun37 I have the VHS of this and it is the whole video, nothing chopped off. Soon, I will be making attempts to get it from the VHS to a DVD and when I do so, I will upload it on youtube and give you the link. : )
@KalebsArmy You took my comment. ;)
"Charlie Brown New 93." "Ross Shafer." Charlie's kept a low profile since his retirement in 1997, but Ross is still out and about doing a combination of standup and business seminars. Funny guy.
@RSCII Yes, we're strange. New York is that stressed out micro-manager. Miami - lots of fun, not much brain. LA is a cross of bimbo and best buddy with attitude. Dallas...may not be on the same planet. Seattle is the strange guy in the IT department that will fix your hard drive, but look at you strangely if you ask about weekend plans.
I agree with the yuppie metropolis comment. It's too bad, because Seattle is a beautiful city. Here's to hoping Portland does not suffer the same fate.
2:56 after he says Barney Clark, did he say Wamme or Waney Club?
Steve Miller lived in Seattle throughout the 80s. I would guess the Sonics were left out because they were pretty much unknown outside the Northwest, unlike the other bands mentioned.

"Sonics are the champions." 1979 was an interesting year.
I know. I lived there for a long time. I remember the days when you had J.P. Patches, it was easier to drive the freeways, housing did not rip you off, and people would actually say "good morning" to you. I just hate the way Seattle has been transformed. It was just too painful to watch and so I had to move. I am glad Portland is not as bad.

3:04 is that Jane Lynch???
why do they mention Olympia Beer instead of Rainier? And Paul Revere & the Raiders (from Idaho) and The Kingsmen (from Oregon) but not The Sonics? And Steve Miller's only tie to the area is mentioning "Tacoma" in a song, unless I'm missing something

The guy on the right, reminds me of Jim McMahon(LOL)???!!!
@USDJ2722 Then why does my original cassette which I ordered from KUBE have KUBE 93 on the cassette jacket? Why does the back say lyrics written by Tom Hutyler who was an Ackerley Communications employee i.e. KJR AM & FM & KUBE? Why are KUBE & KJR the only radio stations mentioned, KUBE predominantly in the chorus? Why do I have emails from a former Ackerley/current Clear Channel employee who worked on this and wanted a hard copy? The song came first when the video was made it aired on King 5.
hey who is that guy at 3:11-3:12"
What year was this made??

I'm pretty mad that Sonic got bought out. I hope the Seahawks dont move.
This is based upon We Didn't Start The Fire by Billy Joel which can be seen here: youtube . com/watch?v=rq3PVHVn0kE It was released in 1989, We Love It In Seattle was released shortly thereafter in 1990. Nirvana didn't become widely known until the release of Nevermind on 9.24.91 Besides Jimi Hendrix was mentioned and the guys in Nirvana couldn't tune his guitar!
Read the info section, you will find the answers you seek LOL!
Emmett Watson and Ivar Haglund must be spinning their graves with what has happened to Seattle.
My fav seattle stations were 107.7 The End and KJR Seattle, channel 95.7. Never was a fan of KUBE 93.
First Almost Live had nothing to do with this and second by the time this was made Schaffer was gone

This was supposed to cover Seattle history from 1950 to 1990. Almost Live ran from 1984 to 1999. Ross hosted from 1984 to 1988 which was still in that 40 year timeline.
I remember this. Thanks for the posting. This was Seattle's great days before the radical fringe took over the city politically. Now Seattle sucks.
This is incorrectly attributed to KUBE. "Almost Live" did this and it was stolen by KUBE. It's the same show that started a panic when they reported, with pictures, that the space needle fell over.
Topshelf? As in KISW's Topshelf? This was made in 1990, Toppy was 20! Who the hell was he then, not Topshelf. Santa's elf? it rhymes but what does it have to do with Seattle and the surrounding area. Kurt Cobain done killed himself? That was 1994, this was made in 1990, very few knew let alone gave shit who Cobain was.
Sadly... Seattle has been on a severe decline in the last several years. u.u
Coming from Pennsylvania, I hate California too, I just think it's so over rated. I want to live in Seattle...
Your profile says you're from the bay area, another Californian who ruined the place bitching about how much it sucks, go the fuck home.
wow, that is horrible
