It's really cool to see the stuff you put in your videos actually being put to use. The backturn damage stuff, using the elbow cutter, etc. God damn Steve is so cool.

I use them a lot more since they're still fresh in my mind; and hopefully I can also show not just preach 😂

Have you considered doing steve's elbow drop grab (qcb 2+4) from peekaboo? The change that allows you to do quarter circle inputs from crouching allows you to cancel peekaboo and do the grab input at the same time. It's a minor tech, but it could be useful to mix up the 1+2 grab.

I like to do duck 1 for my combo enders when in heat to set up an oki, as opposed to lnh 2 which tailspins them. After the duck 1 you can go into extended duck into clinch, and if they try and avoid that extended duck 2 will catch them laying on the ground, or launch them if they get up crouching

Dont know if you know this but hold back when you do UB2 will make it a frame trap cancelling out of LH for a juicy B1 read

After watching more Steve like you, I do feel that the Steve is extremely weak assesment is a bit misguided. While I do agree that his overall dmage is "weak", specially considering you have to do so much work to get a 70 dmg combo compared to let's say Alisa. I feel like Steve does not really play like how everybody does, instead of looking for opportunities to lunch an opponent and deal 70% damage. It's more about the smaller scale battles. The 11frame wr punish is very consistent, the 10 frame jab punish that transition into peekaboo for mixup, the plus frames into duck in cancels, the sidewalk into the back combo, the amount of counter hit tools, the whiff punish with Sonicfang and Lionheart, and more. Sure, he is weak if you try to play him like everybody else. Everybody plays to lunch the opponent so they can do the 13 hit combo they spent hours practicing, but when people start playing him for his strengths and start really focusing on the micro battles, I think that is when we'd see him fully shine.

Right you are my man! Steve's character identity has always been the small skirmishes where he'd always shine because of his safety and threat of a massive counter hit. His character identity is also always rooted in heavy execution for massive rewards. The problem however in Tekken 8 is that Lionheart forces Steve to become a mixup character when he always loses the mixups to armor. Steve has never been about mixups yet in an attempt to bring him to the Tekken 8 system (50/50 galore) they gave him a mixup tool in which he always loses. Another thing is that they gutted his great reward for good execution. Shiro is completely gone, the massage wall combo has been simplified for newcomers for less damage and utility; and all he has is still difficult execution for mid reward. The thing is 90% of the cast has it waaaay easier for 10x the reward. As of right now, if you're playing to win, you avoid Steve. But if you play because you love the character and what he stands for in Tekken like me, then you SHOULD play Steve. I'm just hoping the buffs come soon

@@soulxcv I agree! The Lionheart force transition is definitely a huge problem. It needs a fix, maybe a hold "down" to not go into Lionheart stance on the forced transitions, or a be way to just transition into all stances including pkb since he's not really a 50/50 character. Tekken 8 is my first Tekken game so I don't know what Shiro is. But yeah that is also true, I also think he really needs an overall damage buff. B1 needs to do at least 17 damage on counter if everyone's normal hit df2 launcher deals 15. Everyone really has it more simpler and easier while Steve really gets no benefit for the increase execution. But I'm hoping it will change in the future considering we're only 2 months in in Tekken 8. His threats and oppressive offence can really just be outdone by one medium size mistake which is super easy to do with the amount of execution and reading you have to do.
