Arguing sandwiches is as close to political as food gets. And 3 minutes doesn't allow time to toast the bread; like you're supposed to.

Agree. I don’t think the time limit really adds anything. Also, if they plan on doing different foods in this same format, there’s no way to do literally anything else in three minutes. Maybe a thirty minute time limit if they have to have one?

Depends on what bread you’re using. Inga used a baguette for her sandwich so there was no need to toast it. Even then most people don’t toast bread either for sandwiches. Especially if they're meant to be served cold which was most of these sandwiches anyways .
This is also a low-key “Andrew Cooks A Lot Of One Ingredient” episode, because we now know what Andrew would do with 20lbs of lettuce: he’d put it all on a single sandwich.

I love this concept, but I think it’s important to give yourself the time to properly prepare the food. Either giving yourself more time or no time limit at all would improve the format. I would love to see how the coleslaw was made, allow you to toast the bread if needed, properly seasoning the food, NOT FORGETTING INGREDIENTS etc. that way you’re actually presenting the best possible version of the food, not the one you can make fastest. The frantic/fast paced energy seems to go against a lot of what I (we?) love about your content. Again, I absolutely love the concept, hearing everyone’s subjective opinions on thing like this is so fun, the banter/roast is entertaining, and everyone was a good sport about it!

Totally agree! That was fun for a change, but here's why I don't like it as a format: - Nice people trying to trash talk each other... it's just not believable. 😆You can totally tell that they're cringing inside and even apologizing in their heads as they try to say mean things to each other. - I've never liked time-restricted 'competitive cooking' since it reminds me of reality TV and the very selfish win-at-all-costs mentality. - I much prefer the usual tone of ATE which to me is calm, considerate and thoughtful cooking with a side of learning and delight.

the only possible reason i can think of for the time contraint was so that everyone's opinion and memory of the food wont fade too much as the next person is cooking and so you can make the best comparision, instead of perfectly making the sandwich and waiting 10-20 mins before each dish, and since they want the format of 1 goes after another, having long cook times in between might not be viable

They were so harsh to Sean 😂 His sandwich looked so good
Andrew says his sandwich makes up for inconsistent proteins... but getting a good avocado and flavorful ripe tomato is way trickier than pulling cold cuts from your fridge. Their reliability is why they are the go-to sandwich filling. Whereas every time you buy an avocado, you're not buying an avocado... you're buying the *chance* to buy an avocado.

I personally also think that Inga’s sandwich seems much more convenient, quick and also would hold well when it’s on the go. I think the 3 min might be tight. 10 min is enough to toast and prep. I also think maybe a score out of 10 for each person makes sense so it would be a possible 20 points for each person. But a great first episode!
The sass and the interaction between the hosts in this new series is great 😂
Inga's sandwich is what I'd like to eat. Andrew just piled up a bunch of lettuce & supermarket bread without any dressing. Shawn's sandwich seemed to be wet, charcuterie board comparison was totally adequate, but it did seem promising. My vote: Inga, Shawn, Andrew.
With a sandwich like that, Andrew must be the life at the party.

Seeing their sassy sides is such a breath of fresh air! I love the calm and chill vibes of the channel but this new series has a different appeal to it! 💗💗
the idea for the series is good, minus the time limit. I believe the 'explaining' part is essential since the observers are not aware of the stuff being done by the one making the sandwich. And with the time limit, they are forced to rush things, which is kinda weird since the setup gives a relax vibe, more like c'mon let's have a lazy chitchat EDIT: my fave sandwich is basically just a very simple liver spread in a white loaf bread, partnered with a hot choco or a regular 3-in-1 instant coffee. Not for the bougie people, but as someone who grew up having this, it brings so much comfort, milky bread with a bit bitter because of the toasted liver in the liver spread partnered with a sweet creamy coffee.

Inga's was the best in my opinion even without going to high end deli's for ingredients very easy to replicate or create a varriation of with ingredients from your local supermarket and even add some varriations to it which for me would have been candied jalapenos. Sean's was not a sandwich he readily makes at home as well and for me reduces it's standing, there are just some sandwiches that will always be better at the source. Sorry Andrew straight up veggies on bread with mayo is not a sandwich I'd go for, it would require some tuna, bacon, ham in my world.

Sean made a club sandwich, and I get regionally they call it a sloppy joe but honestly? Three pieces of bread? You're making a club sandwich. I love fig jam and brie and bread and while I don't like ham, Inga's absolutely the real winner.
I think Andrew shines on this channel. He seems more relaxed and seriously invested in the content. Love the videos.
Out of the three, i think inga's would be the only one I would truly make/order. I really like a nice french bread, brie, and fig jam. I really don't like an over saturation of strong sauces/being too wet. Andrews is nice and easy but the imagination of eating it specifically seems a little on the blander side, maybe a layer of sauce on the other bread might help.
I just love Andrew. I just want to hear his opinions about things he has opinions about, he doesn't actually have to produce anything unless if that helps him formulate opinions, so this is a perfect series.

I made this yesterday: Muhammara on one side of the bread, roasted smoky aubergine in olive oil on the other, tinned sardines, piparras (spanish pickled chiles) and cilantro.
All of these look great! I think I wanna try Inga’s the most but maybe with a different type of bread. Baguettes are great but hurt to eat 😅

Inga’s sandwich was clearly the best! I think Andrews purposely didn’t chose Inga so she wouldn’t win. I was LOL’ed when Inga clapped back with the “you put a salad in your sandwich” 😂😂😂 love this side of Inga since we always see her cute and nice side.
the time limit was a bit harsh, but good idea, there is objectively good food, but mostly it is subjective, and personal opinions about good food is an interesting subject to explore

My vote would be Inga’s, it has everything I love.. the brie.. the fig jam… the ham. Yum!!

I think the beauty of this channel is the attention to detail of each ingredient and how it affects the overall taste of the food. No need to limit yourself in time, we wanna see your food at its best :)
Andrew is dissing Inga for buying nice toppings...As if he grew all the salad by himself...😉😄 Inga, maybe mostarda di frutta is an alternative to fig jam.
In the summer time, i dont think anything tops a BLT. Maybe a BLT with a fried egg. But summer tomatoes, homemade mayo, fresh sourdough… its the greatest sandwich. I subscribe to the Kenji school of thought here in which the bacon is a condiment, all about the tomatos. Ham and butter on toasted bread is a close second
I LOVE this format, despite the 3 minute limit, it feels relaxed and fun to watch. Very natural and kinda silly, this is great. 🥖🍎🧀

I like that Andrew, on top of roasting the other two sandwiches, decided that he needed to bring his $400 knife to make his sandwich.
Inga's sandwich looked like the one I most wanted to eat. Jambon beurre are fantastic. Not sure I have a go to, but in summer, I do like a plain tomato sandwich, possibly out of nostalgia. It's much simpler than Andrew's sandwich, just tomato and mayo on white bread.
This was chaotic and fun. More videos on my desk now, please.
