WE HIRED LOCAL FILIPINOS - Working Our Land In The Philippines (Davao, Mindanao)

WE HIRED SOME LOCAL FILIPINOS... THEY WERE AWESOME!
In this video we start working on our land along the coast of Cateel, Davao Oriental. Manong Titing and Kuya Gerwin are masters with their machetes, and cleared our land so fast! It was so cool spending a little time getting to know the different trees and vegetation that grow along the coast here. Seriously, you can learn a lot from locals here in the Philippines.
I really appreciated this day, and the hard work these guys put in!
Power On!

    Rather then burn the cuttings, practice the “cut and drop” method of food forest gardening. Over time, the cuttings deteriorate and return their nutrients back into the soil, enriching it over time (3+ years) to prime organic soil that never needs commercial chemical fertilizers and produces healthier, richer produce. Larger branches and trunks can be piled into huggleculture piles with cut shrubs and leaves piled on top. Seedlings can be plants in them after one year.

    @@johnnytampocao7671 It's unlikely, Filipino's burn pretty much everything from leaves to plastic garbage and almost everything is in plastic packets instead of jars in sari-sari stores. I am a permaculturalist/horticulturalist and believe in wholeheartedly composting pretty much everything that isn't noxious weeds, and even then sometimes you can compost those, but burning noxious is also beneficial returning carbon to the compost mixture. Long ago they learned burning leaves instead of composting them kept the insects from the fruits in the trees and so was beneficial but now most of the land is raped this way and barren soil surrounds trees in built up areas as everything that drops is burned.

  • @jakeryker546

    @jakeryker546

    That doesn't work too well here unless you do it every single frickin' day. The weeds just take over like mad. It's hard to get succession going if you plant trees and shrubs from seeds or seedlings. The weeds choke them readily. The mulching doesn't help unless you cover with several layers of carboard in thick stack with dried leaves because when weed seeds touch soil, they germinte. Heck, that's just from my backyard in the city! 😆

    Unsolicited advise...on the final clearing of the land, please consider uprooting those tree/s like the ones that you cut yourself and the locals; (protruding short trunks and/or other objects - prone to accident); may cause trip over or may hurt someone if he/she falls on those ... Safety first.

    Home sweet home is shaping up. How r d promdi boys today... este kumander Kulas n associate kumander Kumar 😃😃😃. The crew called Anselm kumander or bossing or chief (jokingly tho) but that's very typical nickname calling in a neighborhood. The locals look up to Anselm cz he has d ability to help d ppl around him by providing work 4 money. Kulas n Kumar u r now d incoming kumanders in ur own rights. Yes sir enjoy ur new title... mga astig 💪💪💪😁😁😁...

    No green cards for white people, yet hundreds of thousands of Filipinos bought homes and land in California and across the USA. It's the politicians' fault for not insisting on reciprocity, all across Asia. The Thais have over 300,000 green cards, yet an American has ZERO rights in Thailand, even if married to a local Thai citizen! Same for the Chinese. They have literally a MILLION green cards in the U.S., yet an American has ZERO civil or property rights in China, even if married to a local Chinese and with children! This has to change. Reciprocity is the only morally acceptable principle from here on, in the future.
