Or maybe there is really something grim on the national identy of russias, that would never allow for long good times!? They had it all in their hands, after the fall of communism. Sure it was hard, but it was unavoidable, that things will get better again. Nowadays most of them think it was due to Putin, that the country survived this. Ridicolous, imagine how well off people could be with a better man in charge, someone who really would love Russia and the people, not just trying to become famous like some czars and Stalin for a shitty "empire". Yet, that's obviously what most people there want to see in charge ... some strong ruler, restoring former glory, showing the west it can piss off. I just don't think Maria fits in there ... but the choice is up to her, good luck if she's taking up the fight. It could be a wonderful country ...

But also, they don't know how to deal with others who aren't corrupt. In my experience, corrupt people have a kind of "corruption radar", they just know who the other corrupt people are. If you aren't corrupt, or corruptible, they view you as a threat and they will do anything to get rid of you and get you replaced with one of their kind. Bearing in mind that they are corrupt, you can guarantee that they and their fellow crooks won't be playing fair...

And these are not just regular people from the streets, these are university students in Moscow, the supposed "elite"... This is simply pathetic. Not a single person said ANYTHING about the country being a giant oligarchy with Putin controlling everything. And they are giving the example of China which supposedly eroded corruption??? (Spoiler: it didn't, this was just part of the political campaign of Xi Jinping so that he can rise to power) Why don't they take a look at other ex socialist countries that have a much better corruption index than Russia, for example Estonia, or Poland perhaps? Why don't they ask themselves what caused this "fixing" of corruption? I'm Polish and we had corruption during communist times, just as bad as everywhere else in the communist block. Now corruption of course exists, but on a much smaller level. Maybe they should ask the question what caused that?

Corruption could possibly be one of the two main factor behind Russia's bad economic performance. The other, without doubt incredibly bad leadership. What if Russia was instead a peaceful democratic country maintaining good relations with its neighbors and Europe, cooperation and trade flourishing, corruption being fought back and money spent on infrastructure, education, research and development - instead of huge military spending, isolationism, dictatorship and imperialist wars! 🙈

  • @MJ-uk6lu

Russia's economic performance is actually really good considering what shit show collapse was and how economic system just went kaput so quickly. Not sure how trustworthy numbers actually are, but it seems that before invasion Putin's administration did a lot for economy and most declines were also controlled and due to his own actions. The main thing of perceived under-performance is that it's just young economy essentially, that is heavily prioritizing Moscow and Peter and yes, war expenses. But other than that, it's really not bad economically. Looking at other other post-commie states, it could be even worse, as well as it could be better, but it's mostly better in smaller states, which were less politically aligned to soviet values, therefore they were unchoked, meanwhile Russia on other hand, was just collapsed with unclear values and future, not to mention much higher maintenance expenses (it's a huge country). IMO democracy may not have helped Russia and in cases of high social unrest, political instability and etc. temporary rule of strong handed rulers is actually beneficial, but the key point is temporary. But that's all economically. Socially Russia is still back to tsar era or early commie era. I'm not sure if people in Russia actually want democracy, liberty and etc. Yeltsin and co. Left very bad taste of that in people's minds. Also Russian people seem to see quite a lot of bad in US style administration and may just prefer something not entirely democratic, but also not entirely autocratic. In terms of social progress, Russia hasn't really been very daring ever. The general apathy is high, there's a lot of depression, even internal hate. Socially progressing nations need that for any changes to be accepted and for progress to start. But as it is, Russian society is really closed off, kinda conservative and not really daring. It just seems kinda doomed to not be socially progressing nation. It's not necessarily bad, just different type of society. I would still expect that people would like to have more liberties, just not much beyond that.

@@MJ-uk6lu Really good is not what I would call it, rather under-performing considering Russia has a big potential - many people live under poor conditions, especially in the Russian provinces. A large part of Russia economic "performance" has also relied on sales of oil and gas, which cannot really be called an achievement. Putin maintains a corrupt rule, enriches his own people and cripples democracy - in exchange for some order and stability after the chaotic 90ies, and being helped by increased oil prices. That is not the same as very good, or as good as it could be if Russian had become an open, modern economy and society. But better than chaos! And a traumatized Russian population willingly accepting it, knowing the alternative can be worse - or not knowing or ever being given any better alternatives.

Indeed corruption happens everywhere, two rather important questions in this regard are: Is your country run by billionaires, that magically got rich since being close to the power? Do people who report about problems in a country become famous journalists, or do they die mysteriously or go to jail for 30 years!? You know how those answers look like in case of russia! Btw, still waiting for details on how Selensky showed corrupt behavior- or was that once again just throwing shit at people, hoping that something will just stick!?

The Magna Carta was issued in June 1215 and was the first document to put into writing the principle that the king and his government was not above the law. It's NEVER to late for ruzzia to adopt it. Великая хартия вольностей была издана в июне 1215 года и стала первым документом, письменно закрепившим принцип, согласно которому король и его правительство не стоят выше закона. НИКОГДА не поздно, чтобы Руция приняла его на вооружение.

Mate, corruption at the bottom is 0.000001% of all money. The main money is stolen when money is allocated from the budget for the construction of something. For example, 60 thousand dollars is allocated to install 6 CCTV cameras or 100 thousand dollars to build a dilapidated school swimming pool. Fighting corruption in Russia is the same as fighting power, because if corruption were punishable, everyone who holds any position in this country would be in prison for life. Imagine that in the United States all deputies, mayors, ministers, governors, presidents, generals would be in jail, and roughly the same thing would happen in Russia if they were jailed for stealing. Navalny's channel has tons of videos with evidence of who owns such and such palaces, but none of these people went to jail or lost their positions. And in Russia, stealing money from the budget is as normal as ordinary entrepreneurship, and no one is outraged when someone finds out that a person is stealing from the state budget.
