    @@worstcommentever2805 A couple of decades ago (yeah, I know, tell us about it Grandpa!) nVidia included some kind of antimalware-type stuff in one of their driver package. It was so bad that it had to be uninstalled, but you couldn't do it! There was some tool I had to download to get rid of it; after that I did the stripped-down video drivers ONLY for years after on nVidia products to avoid accidentally installing it. Great video cards/chipsets, but ouch!

    I can’t thank you enough for posting this. The GeForce experience app stopped working in that it kept erroring out when trying to install the latest drivers. I blew it away using the steps in the tutorial and boom. Job done. What was even more impressive it took my running processes down to 84. My win10 machine is now rock solid. No need for win11 now. Cheers 👍😎🇦🇺

    Thank you so much for sharing this information! I always hated the geforce software as it felt much more of an advertisement for the new games than professional driver update software. Drivers being massive and never mention of what the actual benefit was either, lacking technical details for how it improved, rather just advertising how it was released for a new game or improved a recently new games performance(good for kids to understand, not the technically minded).

  • @CharlesSmith-io9fp

    @CharlesSmith-io9fp

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@mcan-piano4718 When you update the drivers, all that happens is the new information is added to the existing driver. Like adding support for a new game. If for some reason the old driver had corrupted files, these remain and can still cause problems. A clean install removes the old driver completely, also removing possibly corrupted files too. It then installs a new or "clean" version of the driver with the new updates include. It can take a few extra minutes but eliminates problems. You can open GeForce and reinstall your drivers opting for a clean install. If your game has been running poorly this can correct those problems. That's why I always do it clean. It can help improve framerate in your games too.

Just because something is running in the background doesn't always mean it uses a noticeable amount of resources. It literally doesn't make any difference performance wise. Don't just believe all things you see in a clickbait youtube video where the creator exaggerate things or maybe doesn't even know anything about what he is doing. There are multiple hundreds of services running in the background all the time and at least on my machine, it's still google chrome who uses the most resources in idle most of the time.

You seem to be more knowledgeable about the software/process side of things than i am, so maybe you know about this, or know how to figure out what's actually happening that makes it act that way? MH seems to run much more smooth on linux than on windows, i love it. the only software i did not get to run are: Affinity Photo/Designer/Publisher (installer crashes), Corel Draw (wait... i don't remember, it used to not work, did i really try this on mint 20?), Dark Basic (somewhat works but unstable), The Elder Scrolls Online (steam version, the eso launcher is unable to access the steam library). if the Affinity and Corel worked, i could switch completely.
