😍I find that the most interesting people are what I call "people of clutter". Their homes are full of wonderful things that they love, often (many) animals, and they will welcome you into their home and tell you to perch where you can for a cookie or a tea any time. And they never worry that there's a bit of fur or some dust, because we are all just dust anyway. I love that there is something to look at everywhere you look in your miniatures. And I love your lovely channel. Happiest of Holidays!

Nothing as delightful as the Borrowers. At 66 I have the full collection of books. I think it would be lovely to take the safety pin ladder her father used to climb and stick it in the uppermost floor with the rope hanging down. This has to be my favorite project you’ve done thus far! Time to sit down and reread the series to get ideas.

If I were a borrower a glove would be so useful , for making small articles of clothing…socks, under ware, tank tops from the fingers, or pillows and the body could be sheets….a knit pair of gloves could be made into a winter sweater or blanket, leather gloves for shoe making , or a squirrel saddle, or a very sturdy hammock…..😊 I loved the borrowers….your crafting is so sweet , thanks for sharing.✨p.s. paper clips are easier to make hangers……and for your kitchen, small tea tin with the top and side cut out, wood or coal inside and a piece of screen for the top of the bbq…..champagne cage tops for chairs, buttons for plates, a saucer on a spool for a table, metal measuring spoons for pots ( handles cut) acorn mugs, toothpaste tops for cups, glass salt seller w/ spoon for serving, a crystal toothpick holder for a vase…..I think I need to build something✨……toodles! I don’t think that your creations are overcrowded. Please continue to be your wonderful selves. ♥️♥️♥️ Definitely and most importantly, these are treasure-troves… an expression not used to describe an orderly and clinical display of a collection. If you were creating a space for a child to use for play, of course, that would be completely different (not to mention so many things being lost). Or if you were accurately re-creating a historical space for a museum, there’s no space for the inhabitants to move around, so it would be unrealistic. However, that’s not what you are doing. You are creating amazing spaces to display the amazing things you make, find, purchase and are given. To “spread them out” as some might wish, you would need innumerable dollhouses (which I suspect could be the destination where you’ll end up anyway). For the visitor, these are not spaces to be glanced at. These are spaces to explore with your eyes. To discover on the next visit something you didn’t notice last time. Thank you for taking the time and effort to film not just your creations, but your creative process! ♥️

Sunny would have had me hooked in with his soothing purr, even if you hadn't made me blissfully enthralled with the Borrowers theme. That was one of my favorite storybook series as a child, because what child is not a scavenger/forager/Borrower at heart? Or, what mudlarker, for that matter? You have both nailed the tastes and characters of Arietty and Homily, perfectly. I'm even jealous of your artfully lithographed sardine tin. We don't see such exotic tins on this side of the pond, alas. I can hardly wait to see the kitchen and parlor, and Pod's ingenious tools of trade! Brava, ladies! Well done!

Pill boxes make wonderful storage, and I made a fireplace out of an old spice tin cut open and rolled up on one side with a metal cigar tube as a chimney. This is so lovely. I’m 76 now and live in Belfast with my family, I did live in Devon when I was 9-12 yrs and near to where Mary Norton lived. I have loved the Borrowers and still have my set of books. Still, to this day, I can be heard saying, “this wd do for Spiller,Pod etc”. Funny enough, of all the beloved books I read to my children and grandchildren, none of them ever got ‘into’ my precious family. Another book that you may have read is The Indian in the Cupboard, if not please hunt it down. You will adore this story in miniature but which comes alive. Things that you cd maybe look for are a half scissor for Pod, fine string with knots tied in it for grappling ropes and a ground down fish hook for the end of the rope. Don’t forget, they borrowed everything before the Boy gave them the Doll’s house furniture but then they had to live from scratch when they went to live ‘Afield’. Precious and beautiful memories of my childhood.

So, so, charming! How I love the Borrowers books and their adventures! The sweet clock home you’re creating for them is capturing their essence! I picked up a clock very similar to yours a few years ago and have been transforming it into a mouse couple house! Mr. Mouse is a want-to-be-inventor and has the entire “top floor” of the clock (where it’s mechanism still exists!) as his work and planning room. Ms. Mouse keeps busy in the lower rooms, washing clothes and then relaxing in the hammock strung across the laundry room, painting and reading every book in her vast library! Their entire clock-house is a collection of bits and bobs they find while out on their adventuring walk-abouts! Nothing is too small or insignificant to leave behind! They are a true Borrowers couple at heart! The next project for them will be to instruct me on how to build a dumb waiter/elevator on the outside of the clock in order for them to go from the lower rooms to Mr Mouse’s work room. He wants it to be efficient. She wants it to be a work of art. How to do both? Yet, it must be done! Looking forward to your further Borrowers videos! And salutations from Mr and Mrs Mouse! Thanks much! Kathleen

@@darnprecious1 It really is …and challenging at times! I’m committed to using only “found/non-purchased items” (except paint/stain) to furnish every bit of this clock house …. A,ing the wringer washer from a supplement bottle, ink pen lids and paper clips has been quite the learning curve! The hammock was easy …a scrap from a mesh bag that onions came in! Oh, that it were all so easy! Ha ha! Such fun! Are you in the midst of a creation or a dream of one? Kathleen

It is so lovely, peaceful and pleasant to watch your videos. Those tiny things and your love for details draw me in and are such a calm watch after long and tiresome shifts. Being from Germany, "the Borrowers" said me nothing at first, so I checked them up. They are known here as "Borger", yet I just remembered slightly a cinema movie preview from many years ago. Yesterday I found the series you mentioned from 1992 with those wonderful actors and I did a little marathon, since I felt so drained from work. How lovely and pleasant. Thank you so much also for that inspiration. I will go for the books very soon and now I finally understand your "Borrower"-projects and want to do some as well. What a lovely way to create so beautiful things from every days life and imagined them."borrowed". So, once again thank you very much for all your beautiful content and for the peaceful, calm and lovely moments you create for all who watch. I am 55 and my kid's soul is just happy and joyful, a very lovely and wonderful counterweight to everyday's life, news and duties. Love and greetings from Augsburg, Germany.

Beautiful, just beautiful. You make me feel soo content, whimsical and fill my mind with a child_like joy. What splendid, magical people you are. Sunny reminds me so much of my old cat Paddy who would sit on my lap purring, whilst I was going through chemo.

I always find it fascinating, watching your creations evolve. It's amazing that this video came up today, as I actually bought a grandmother clock from an auction today for £12, specifically for making it into a dolls house. So this episode was extra extra interesting. I look forward to seeing the next steps ❤

I,too, loved The Borrower books. Another similar book I loved is Twig, about a tiny girl who lived outside in the yard. Sonny's purring was a perfect (purrfect) accompaniment to your video.

The Borrowers was a book we read in school. Our teacher would read aloud to us after lunch break. That was in the late 70s and I think I need to read it again.

This is going to be my all time favourite house of all.I loved the book as a child and films I have seen. Its such a novel idea and of course explains all the things that go missing lol!.. I absolutely adore both the rooms so far,I know you will change and put new things in too!but cannot wait for the other rooms to be done. The clock idea is so clever and a clever way to use a broken piece and turn it into something really incredible.A Borrowers home..So clever ,and it gets place of honour by the fire place too 🥰

I absolutely love it! Yes, it would be cluttered with things as they would not have the luxury of space, but would grab anything that could eventually be found useful. You have made me want to read the Borrowers again. Sadly it will have to wait until we move and I get all of our books unpacked. I always wished they would be real and one day I would find some little borrowers in my home and I could accidentally leave things around for them to "borrow".
