As a person who does a lot of swimming training your pool looks so nice. A pool without chlorine sounds and looks amazin

As a person that swims in a river every summer (it’s right behind our house) I can confirm: no chlorine is awesome

I believe chlorine is better when you have a pool in your backyard and is always their to clean it and do stuff to it but if you want something that’s their and low maintenance then no chlorine ponds/rivers are 1000% better. You can just hop in and swim.

The shallow sides are supposed to have way more plants though. If they had proper planting, they wouldn't have the issue with the algae.

The “unidentified swim object” you saw was most likely the nymph stage of the dragonfly. You will get many of them breeding in a healthy ecosystem. They are good to have around. They are also predatory and will eat anything small that doesn’t eat them first!

Hahaha!! You guys are great! Love your 'natural' pool, loved your humorous explanation of how the 'natural' pool works and loved your duck prank! There's always going to be haters but I appreciated your video of making the pool and I appreciate this follow up even more. I'm concerned about the ducks in the pool, I have gotten something called swimmers itch a couple times because of the bacterial content in the water from the ducks but it sounds like you know what you're doing. Happy swimming!

Your Pool looks amazing. Many natural pools I've seen look like normal pools with the added plant/sediment layer, but yours actually does look natural. I think you will have a hard time to keep algae growth under control, a really really hard time honestly given how many trees are around it and how many animals are inside of it...but on the other hand you have trees and fish and a turtle in your natural pool, which is amazing. =)

Those of us that care for reptiles, amphibians, and fish will often used what's called a "Clean-up Crew" of which varies depending on the biome created. For example, most aquariums will is use a combination of shrimp and snails to help clean up algae. My question is: is that something that could be applicable to your natural swimming pool and the buildup of string algae?

Yes those can help a great deal, but this pool and most of these natural pools are not designed as habitats. They try to rely on fitters that eventually clog and don't make for very good habitat.

Ducks pooping in the water creates super nutrients so I wouldn’t want them in my natural pool. As a previous pool owner I love the advantages of a natural pool. No chlorine stripping your hair; don’t have to bathe to remove chlorine; no daily pool vacuuming; bathing suits last. I’m sure I could up with many more.

I used the water hyacinth plant in our turtle pool and found out the hard way the the roots sting. lol I was wondering if you ran into that at all, and they are very toxic to pets. But your dog looks very intelligent, and he knows, don't eat the poison plant, or he would have by now! He's beautiful btw. Just sharing! I've never known anyone to actively purchase and want to keep hyacinth. They're one of the worst aquatic weeds there is. They form dense mats that can clog waterways and they significantly affect biodiversity by killing off other water plants as well as removing oxygen from the water so nothing can live in there. I can understand there would be a reason as to why you would want to keep hyacinth as you want to have it as a clear fresh water pool but it's just crazy to me. Great pool by the way.

water hyacinth is totally a good call, your gonna have string algea problems until your plants really grow in but that stuff grows massively quick and is really good at pulling nutrients from the water, it doesnt handle cold well if your in an area that it gets cold in it will probably all die so just be aware of that come winter, you probably already know that but just incase you dont!

The plants that need a shelf might be able to survive on a float. (Can't remember for sure, but I think it was coconut fiber zip-tied to cut pool noodles.) Other YT channels that show natural pool tech show them. What an amazing pool, would love to see more about it as the plants grow and it changes. So lovely that your dog can swim too, can't do that in a chlorinated pool without having to shock it.

Question on liner and dog. I am looking to put in a natural pool, I have dog, and friends have dogs. My concern is as they are crawling up the bank it will dislodge the rocks, sand and rip the liner. Have you had issues with your pup as they chase, swim and crawl out getting to liner? Thanks for the vid, I like how you did your walls, they are lower in the pond so you can sit on and still be in the water, and wider. Other vids they were taller and narrow. I also like you did not do a sq shape swim area.
