Do not worry, it is just a matter of time, the authorities will approve your visas, there are no reasons to reject your application. I think their objective is to make sure you really want to live in Italy.

My husband and I are US expats who also live in Piedmonte. Even though I am a dual citizen who holds two passports the process was not easy. Hang in there….. it is definitely worth it. The next hurdle for us was passing the Italian theory test for our driving licenses. As an Italian resident your American license is only good for a year. Please reach out if you have any questions. That's not true. If you have italian citizenship you can just arrive. You have to go to the comune and say you will register there. Of course the driving license is another topic. But for new drivers is difficult too.

@@mariaeugenia7599 yes you can come without a problem; however it was necessary to formally ripariate to Italy for me to obtain permanent residency through the commune. At that point my husband could apply for his promesso di soggiorno based on family.

Pazienza is the word 😊, you are doing the right thing. I waited two full years to get my Italian citizenship, it was just an administrative process as my dad was Italian.. all it takes is a good lawyer and a lot of time 👍

There is a big difference here. Your dad was Italian that makes it somewhat easier compare to 2 tourists outside of the EU wanting to get residency.
I'm so proud of you. When your hearts are pure God will bless your dreams. You are inspiring so many people to stay positive and believe in your convictions.
The hard work, trials and tribulation, and constant code-enforced stumbling-blocks will be worth it in the end. If for no other reasons, the views from the home, and the sound of the church bells; that's a beautiful combination....
They will aprove it.
I want to speed to the end to hear about the visa, but I will wait. Suspense is killing...
You know doubt are probably aware but just in case cement takes give or take 30 days to properly cure. Keep on "trucking".
Thank you for not sensationalising the whole video process. I know this is what KZread encourages😊

Yes! I'm SO grateful that they don't!! It's SO REFRESHING!!!
I think there's some confusion about the D7 and I don't want your watchers to get confused. You can't really convert a Portuguese visa or temporary residency into a residency in Italy as you wouldn't meet the requirement the EU has set to do that. A PERMANENT Portuguese residency can be converted but a TEMPORARY cannot. You must have resided in Portugal for five years in order to successfully convert your residency to Italy. So essentially, you're a temporary resident for two years, you renew for three, then you apply for Permanent Residency in Portugal, THEN you get move to Italy. And Portugal requires you to live in the country for 16 months out of 24 for the first two years you're here. Then the second three years you have to spend even more time in the country. Plus SEF will require you to maintain an apartment/house (with a valid habitation license) appropriate to your family situation with a lease or deed tied to your NIF (tax number) that is registered with Financas. So you'd essentially be locked into Portugal for five years while only being able to be in Italy 4 months of the year for the first two years and even less for the next three years.
What an enormous dedication you have to fix and remodeling the house ! This is Enormously impressive!
OMG, and I thought the FRENCH were difficult!!!!! I'm now going to put Italy in first place. Best of luck you two. I think you should be welcome in any country.

I moved to Paris in '82. The first week there, my stepmother got her purse stolen. I had to go with her to the prefecture de police (THAT's a story in itself) and subsequently, at the crack of dawn, to the Isle de la Cité to wait for hours in line to re-apply for the papers, multiple times.... an absolute nightmare. I swore that I would NEVER do that. I lived there for 15 years... under the radar. But I do believe that it's worse in Italy.

@@Connie_From_AZ Hi Curious Connie! Oh... I'm complicated. Born in the UK to an English Mum and American Dad... came to the US at 18 months, lived up and down the West Coast (mostly CA), then to school in England, 3 yrs. Back to the States, Denver for a year ... then in '72, to a Seattle suburb to finish high school. Had NEVER lived in the burbs before (complete culture shock; it's where the intellect comes to die). Then, in '84 to Paris. 1997 back to the Seattle burbs to look after my Mum (Alzheimer's)... 'til she died (2004). Deep depression for 12 years (situational AND genetic/runs in the family) and stuck here (in US) ... pull out of it enough to find myself and go back to doing what I came to the planet to do: Art. (And... I know you didn't ask... but, since you're curious (which is a WONDERFUL quality to have!!!)... The NorthWest has the most temperate climate which is wonderful! ...but I find this area to be rather passive/aggressive ... or Protestant (the US is Protestant. I'm speaking CULTURALLY, not ecumenically): It's more important to be 'nice' than interesting. I miss England (more conversational in the real sense of the word) and France ... a Catholic country where you are allowed to get upset and yell about it (or... it used to be when I lived there. I know things have changed). Wow... can't believe I put my entire life in a veritable nutshell!).

A "lintel" is a horizontal support beam in a house that typically supports a window or a door; a "lentel" is a edible legume. I think I'm hearing the words pronounced interchangeably and they're quite different. If the couple's home is made with lentels, they'll never go hungry but the structure won't be very stable.
If after all this work and hassle they tell you No, it would be a nightmare.
We spent 2.5 years in Italy. Our Italian friends answered all of our frustrations with "Mneh, siamo in Italia!" Good luck with getting a decision soon :)

Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
As an American expat living in Mexico, I only have one "no brainer" piece of advice: get your approved residency visa before you make a huge move...common sense, people. It is very arrogant or naive to believe we can just move anywhere we want without repercussions.
Underpinning is the way with these kinds of walls also where there is a straight joint you can cut out some stones in the middle and put a large stone back inn to join walls together wedge and use mortar to build said large stones inn .
I feel bad for you guys it seems like it’s one thing or another but always something and you never get discouraged I admire that a lot I must really love that house I wish you all the best and hopefully from now on it’ll be smooth. Sailing.
Ask the childrens teachers to write a letter they like the children. And send it to immigration. That is how Italions think, with emotion .

I'd say leaving is not the problem, being allowed back in without the appropriate visa is where you will run into your problems. I've been through the whole resident visa hoopla for myself and obtaining dual citizenship for our child and that was an even bigger nightmare. Let your lawyer sort out the "misunderstandings", have everything in place and be confident when you next leave the country that you know what the deal is when you re-enter. Best of luck. Sounds you know what you're doing at least, even if they don't. 😆 Also, so great to see that wall supported!
One of you could enroll to some cheap University and get a student permit, which can later be converted to autonomous working permit "lavoro autonomo".
I pray everything works out for your family!🙏💕
Admire your patience and perspective towards settling into a new country. Best wishes for all you're endeavouring to do👍
