This is the truck that started it all for most of us. Visions of yellow Land Rovers tackling challenging terrain still surface in our memory. Fast forward 20 year and now we can afford to build one - in fact, we're gonna do it on a $5,000 budget!

My dream vehicle 200 series landcruiser, I understand any vehicle can break especially the amount of weight he had and the terrain he was in. I try to be a minimalist and not carry all that unnecessary weight, but good video still, I still love the 200 cruisers still gonna get one.

Those F150 based trucks were a foot wider and had a minimum of 1000 lbs on the Jeep, sometimes you have to be the sledgehammer to their finesse. Having mud tires instead of M&S also helps...

That footage from 4:37 to 4:47 may be the best video "in the world" of a Torsen differential at work. The front right tire was receiving so much torque that it exploded the CV joint. You can see that the driver's side tires were packed and slipping and I'd bet the passenger side rear was the same. The whole weight of this truck and trailer was being drug by that one front right tire. Amazing video. I was not aware that the LC 200 had a Torsen front different until I saw this video.

@@bpeberhard didn't need to be creative when just stating the obvious. When somebody tells you to hit hard when you have a 7000 pound Land cruiser and a 1500 lb trailer on your back-end going up a slippery muddy hill it kind of speaks for itself. They should have winched from the beginning and saved that guy a CV joint but he clearly has enough money to spend that it doesn't matter. also I thoroughly enjoy the mountain state videos but they didn't even address that they handled that whole situation very poorly. they have all these vehicles with all this equipment but they didn't use any of it to get him up that hill safely.

I feel like these guided trips are a great idea, but could use some more thoughtful planning. Like others have said, that bone stock F150 with chincy nerf bars should not have been out there, and it’s a miracle he was able to drive that thing back to Maryland. Secondly, when you guys clearly had a base camp, why did the guy in the Cruiser take the turtle back out on the trail? I understand the concept of getting “content” on film, but to me that is a shining example of what is happening with the “overland revolution “.... too many people “doing it for the gram” instead of just enjoying nature, and making smart decisions. I understand progression and growth of the MSO company, but as Guides, I feel the MSO crew is responsible for ensuring the participants are learning intelligent, respectful wheeling practices that they will be able to use on future...

Yikes on the dude with the 200 Series. Why does one person need THAT much trailer...Less, is more, IMHO. I get the overlanding thing...kind of...but let's work our way up to it. Start with a tent. I blew a CV on the trails (my fault). We had an extra CV axle, swapped it out on the trail in 23 minutes during the Red Clay Rally. It also helps if there is some that are mechanically inclined people in the group. Just saying..know your trucks, and know how to do some basic trail repairs. It makes trips less worrisome and you can continue.
