I got scammed in Thailand, by what I thought was a lady boy, but when I got to my room I was gutted to find out I'd actually paid for a real woman

Went to Vietnam in may and stayed in hotel in HCM City. When I checked out there were food,coffee and skid mark stains on sheets and filthy towels on the floor! They checked room before I left and no problem-laundry washes! Their scam is pathetic!

theres one thing u should know also. They have multiple keys for the rooms,i was sleeping one time,and a cleaner lady walked right in,and then ran out when she realized i was still inside. They will go through your luggage

One tip: Don't walk visible with your room key. If they steal it, they can empty your room sooner than you can reach it. Leaving at the hotel is usually not an option, because especially cheaper hotels don't care who they give your key to and put the room number on your key.

I stayed at the same hotel while in port back in 2011. Didn't experience any issues with scams in regards to the hotel. The locals throughout the strip though - every other person was hustling in one way or another.

Two or three visits to places like this is enough to last a lifetime.

Great video just subscribed- trying to do some research before going to thailand with my family, thinking about Kata beach! and I always think it's a cool idea to see other Mcdonald's haha I don't know why people are being so weird about it! they're just jealous (': the only place I've been similar to Thailand is Bali- if you haven't been I really recommend it! not everything is mega cheap but it's so lovely there and if you stay more near the beaches (near the airport) there's like 3 areas that are kind of joint together which is really good if you don't want to stay in the partyish bit but you can walk it to wherever, if you have people that are willing to walk, it's a bit harder if you go with unfit people. The area of Bali we stayed in is called Legian and it was tbest hotel (huge resort) the beach was just outside and the breakfast was so lovely (basically breakfast and dinner foods and dessert everything rolled into one) at the Padma Legian hotel. Also speaking of scams! just to let you know if you ever book through Expedia (for flights and hotel) they charged us one night stay more at the hotel- we got the money back in the end through sending a few letters etc but Expedia had added one more night onto the hotel booking even though we would have been on the plane at that time! so be very careful! 👌

I have been to Thailand 3 times. Never really had a problem with hotels. But I haven’t really slummed it either.. Suggestion. Leave 20 baht on each pillow and respectively they have looked after us.. A little tip goes a long way..

I have had no grief in Thailand but have been there two many times. Will give it a miss, somewhere different next time.

Yeah, Trip Advisor is my go to guide for theses sorts of places, any more than 5% of the Reviews being bad, and I will give the place a big miss!

go to the philippines there are so many private beaches! no scam!... we are so lucky that we don't want our islands to be commercialized! english is our second language by the way!

Patong reminded me of a cross between Blackpool/ Margate/ Benidorm. It was truly horrible with all the foreign tourists walking around without tops, sunburnt and, of course, the obligatory tattoos. A crap resort for the lower classes

I go to Phuket at least once a year, it all comes down to how you approach things..... As soon as you book in give a tip.learn basic Thai please n thank you etc and smile. Also remember a lot of workers aren't Thai ie Burma Nepal etc so a lot of scams come from them also make local friends.... Thais don't take shit from Thais and will stand up for there foreign friends as you are status for them..... Most of all chill the F out, your there for a fun time remembering that always helps.

Im Thai and i also got "Towel scam" in a 3 star hotel in Samed .... Oh you lost your towel (but I havent even used the towel so I didnt know it ever existed)

Not to be offending, but I've been through what you have shown in this video several times. Sucks, doesn't it? I am an American, married to a Thai woman for 12 years. We STILL have problems booking hotels from time to time. Sorry you had a bad experience. Please don't let that impression copy your entire experience of this Lovely Country. Take care and Cheers!

Dimension 9 In the 4 months we travelled Asia we ate at hundreds of authentic Asian restaurants. Just one time in Phuket we went to McDonald’s. You’ve just never watched our other videos that’s all.

You seem like nice people so I am sorry to hear that they tried to scam you, even though they were not particularly good at it. Next time try to find a better quality hotel rather than one that already has a reputation for scamming, hence the review you mentioned. I have never been to Phuket.

4:35 maybe the solution is 3fold. 1st, don’t use their towels. 2nd, take a short video of the room before you settle in. When I rent a car I do the same thing. I do a walk around while filming before driving off just in case. Lastly... set up a nanny cam somewhere in the room and you’ll have the sketchy maid on video. What do you all think?

In patong, they care so much about money. Naiharn is the real destination of Phuket. In patong, they tried to tell us we stole 2 towels. We ofcourse did not 😂

That's what put me off Thailand: people try to scam you at every turn. But they don't do it behind your back, they'll do it right to your face. It can be a nice old lady or a little kid, but you never see them coming until it's too late. Everyone gets scammed the first time. Just do your research before you go and you won't lose as much money.

what they can do to extort money is unbelievable. this is what scares me in traveling to places like these :'(

Don't make your self vulnerable or a target. You cut the chances of getting scammed right down if you stick to the main tourist areas, don't get drunk and stick to bars where you can trust the staff.

Funny that, I stayed in hotel cheng mai with my Thai mrs's I read rules it mentioned a fee for breakages or soiled sheets lol my mrs's got bit of period blood drip on bed sheet nothing was said no fine. Lol! It's funny because tourists arrive in Thailand daily n Thais are waiting to strike. I'm in phitsanulok at moment lovely hotel. Internet is usually shit in hotels though

April Mae of the hundreds of places we stayed and the thousands of places we didn’t there was pretty much a similar amount of negative and positive reviews. Hard to stay anywhere on a budget without some negative

Don't go to the bars, they charge you more than the price and threaten beat you up if don't pay in some of them. Don't take a chance.

So silly!

I traveled in Thailand 27 years ago and boy has it changed. I'm not just talking about the Western franchises that you seem to like so much, but also the style of traveling. We slept in tiny rooms for 50 bhat a night and only ate street food. £13 was three days budget. Why would you want to go to shit hole like phuket for?.. it's tourist trash central.

It's concerning the "change" not only the businesses catering to travelers have undergone, but also the expectations, comfort levels and budgets of travelers. The main guide of the time "South East Asia On A Shoestring" sums up the ethos of that period. My comment was a response to what I saw in this video, not to Thailand as a whole.

£13 27 years ago could buy you 4 days groceries now it can get you 3 apples and a tub of strawberries

I stayed at the same hotel and everything was great.

Money saving tip 3 if you are at a bar beer drinking pay your bill every 2drinks then go to711 and buy a beer keep this up all night until711 stops selling beer at 12 pm I did this in Thailand in 2018 from 6pm and saved500 baht

McDonald in Thailand is sell at hefty price than in other countries. It is higher in price than in Singapore. Of course it's a western food and only westerners the business logic behind the prosperity to create inflation price of food all over the world. We used to have $0.30 noodles in the 90's until more western tourist flooded in and they left the trend with hefty price of noodles. Guess what's the price now??? $5.

Got Scammed in Phuket in 2018 too... Basically my hotel room lock safebox was locked and you can not used it. Ok no problem I hide my travel money and valuable in a hard to find tiny pocket in my backpack.... spend 3 days in the lovely city, check out of the hotel and travel to Vietnam only to find out the cleaning lady really did clean me out.. amazing she found my little stash.... Beware when you to go Phuket... worst experience ever. Bangkok Thailand I never even experience any theft or issue.. but Phuket the thai there mentality seem to be your shit belong to them.

The solution is not to go somewhere expecting to get scammed...

No that would be extreme. I actually travelled for 6 months around Asia to spend 12 minutes in McDonald’s once. Hope that clears it up.

Thailand is one big buzz kill...constant aggravation! Save your time and money when in South East Asia and head direct to Cambodia; when you get there order a very happy pizza - tell em Ian sent you. If you 'Must Go To Thailand' my tip is 'Feet' your feet - little known thing about Thailand...avoid almost everything to do with your feet esp do not step on a coin to stop it rolling away if you happen to drop a coin. Head striaght to Cambodia.
