I did this once, but I was also scammed for paying more in the middle of the trip he said it was taking too long because of traffic, so I needed to pay more to keep going. It was not much, but nonetheless it was more than prepaid arrangement. It was 12 years ago, so it seems things gotten worse listening to your story.

@@rkrchaturvedi True. But feels bad by hearing this. Bitter truth
You can just ask for hotspot from anyone around, INSIDE THE AIRPORT. They will definitely help. So that you can book your Taxi online. Even you can ask for it from sim card provider. Hope so, Authorities should look into this and correct this.

Don't feel bitter - I am an Indian, and the first time I traveled to Delhi, I got conned and scammed as well by taxi drivers. You will learn quickly how to avoid these parasites and leeches. Nowadays, I always get Google Fi service when traveling to India - you get unlimited roaming.
There are pre-paid government cabs at the Delhi airport! You go to a desk right outside the exit, and tell them your location. (I know it's not so obvious, I think the signs are in Hindi) They bill you and hand you a slip with the written address which you hand to a driver they assign you. it's all regulated- they HAVE to take you to the address given as that's what has been prepaid. I am pretty sure these are not the folks who scam. but FR we live in Delhi and we have been hearing a lot of these types of stories lately! Our friend's 70 year old aunt was scammed this same way! and you guys with a baby too, so shameful of these guys.
Ohhhh, man. I’m sorry to hear about that. I’m glad the rest of your trip was better and I greatly appreciate the heads-up. Much love to you and your family. 🙏
There is a physical ola counter at IGI, a receptionist books your ride directly. Sorry for your bad experience.
Umm sad but first thing to do before visiting any new place is to check popular scams of the area . I did it for Thailand and it saved me from the popular scam "Royal Palace scam" where the tuktuk driver tries to tell you its closed and then offer new place . Never ever let a driver decide the course of destination irrespective of country . But these experiences add flavor to our journey .

Yup! Vishuddha had been to India twice before this and never had the issue. But things happen! We laughed about it a week later lol
Use Uber or Ola when taking cab. There is also a Metro station at Airport.
It’s so strange and incredible the timing of this video couldn’t be more in tune with me. I’ve been very recently scammed as well and hearing your story made me realize how lucky I am for not being scammed while traveling (I don’t know how you bounced back so we’ll and continued your trip with love and forgiveness) while I’m being at home, got scammed online, lost money and still I have a roof over my head and everything is still ok with us. Its been stressful as is so hearing you and your beautiful family going through this, makes me feel so much love and gratitude for your video! I’ve been feeling so stupid for getting myself into this unfortunate experience and it’s really nice that you share you made your experience just some unfortunate situation without getting so angry about it! Thank you for staying positive that is actually very inspiring! 🙏 ✨
thank you for sharing! We are about to travel to New Delhi. we usually use the wifi in the airport for Ubers but the info about sim cards was super helpful!
I was caught out by this on my first trip to India 20 years ago. I was terribly jetlagged and very sick too. I was taken to a travel agent. I'd already read about the scam but couldn't figure out a way out. I had no idea where they'd taken me. This was before the days of smartphones. I couldn't just run out into the street because probably I'd get picked up by someone else who'd do the same. I just ended paying bare minimum just to get out of there. Some thoughts: 1. Take the metro - it's fast, clean, cheap and not crowded. 2. Prearrange the hotel to book a taxi for you, so you only have to look out for your name at arrivals - although this might not always be possible 3. Download offline Google maps for the city you are going to - GPS works even in airplane mode or if you have no internet connection 4. Use Uber to make taxi bookings (though this will only work if you have internet connection, and Delhi airport doesn't have public wifi). Maybe you can schedule a trip before you get on the plane?, though I've never tried this 5. Have some kind of roaming SIM card so that you have internet as soon as you land. It only needs to cover you until you get to the hotel. 6. Have your hotel address ready with map - printout, so you can insist on going there.
I also got scammed in Delhi by a autodriver... Be Aware brother... This city is worst in India
Use prepaid taxi after reaching any airport in India . And forgot to say , love your wonderful perspective of India , hope you Vlog visiting Indian restaurants in America , hope you visit Indian temples in America, meet with wonderful Indian families in America and video vlog those wonderful moments in America. The exact same thing happened to me in China as well!! Please always watch out for Pre-paid taxi stand or counter. These taxi guys try to get you before your get to these counters or see any signs. So be careful :)
Use Uber or Ola, do not use local taxis, autos they overcharge the locals also.😂

Love the positive and non-judgmental way you shared the story. Way to spread the humanly love, despite all our imperfections. Congrats on the little guy! Treasure and laugh at even the most testing moments, because the adorable baby/toddler phase ends shockingly fast! (Source: my little princess is already 5 and it’s sort of devastating haha , but I’m sure the next phases will be just as great).
Basically the same happened to me and my ex back in 2016 when we arrived to Delhi and were about to leave India in two days. The excuse was just a festival in the area instead of covid. We took two nights from scam hotel but scammed back by paying only for one night. We left in the morning saying we'll be back soon. Sorry to hear that you had similar bad experience in this amazing country.
I am so sorry you and your family had to undergo this bad experience. Hope you would visit soon and we see would watch from your lens. Much love, xoxo
Watcing your video for the first time and Sorry to hear this..much love ❤
You can either book a 'fair price' prepaid taxi service within the airport which is a government run initiative or ask anyone around you to book an Uber cab for you through his/her phone. Else take the Delhi metro service directly from the airport, which is cheap and convenient too.
It breaks my heart someone would do this in India :(
Please do visit Kainchi Dham where Neem karoli baba's temple is there who is reincarnation of hanuman in Guru's body
Thanks Wander Years - it was very interesting to watch the videos you guys posted on Rishikesh - particularly Maharishi Mahesh Yogi former ashram zone.
Bro I'm so sorry ... Even I'm Indian I'm from middle India (MP) when I went to Delhi I also got scammed
You three look so innocent n humble, deserve million of subscriber
There's also an efficient, cheap and modern Airport Metro to the city center - which saves you all the hassle with airport taxi fares... and traffic jams.
I'm so sorry guys that you had to go through this, even Indians get scammed like this by Taxi Drivers, Hotel agents, etc. especially if they are new to the City.
Thanks for sharing also where in the US is this?
what gear do you use pleassesss tell
When arriving at the New Delhi airport, My potential scam was when I picked up my luggage from the baggage carousel, I noticed that one suitcase was tagged with a playing card that got inserted in where someone had cut the corner of the suitcase, enough that a hand can fit in. Then I removed the playing card, put the suitcase on a cart and kept watch.
Here is what happened: 1) driver called different person who says hotel isn't working. 2) Driver got minimum 40% kickback Solution: if you don't have phone, go to any domestic terminal and book from Taxi company's physical desk. Their charges are may be 20% higher but saves from scam for sure.
Bro, as an Indian even we are careful with such scam. But I can feel your pain especially if it happens in a foreign land. Always use prepaid taxi from next time.
There's a lot of Tourist trap in Delhi and other touristic area. And yes , many taxi drivers are involved with hotels in scams. So , just one thing you should remember "Never trust any strangers". (Karl Rock , an amazing scam exposer in India said this , he has a popular youtube channel too). And next time , try to visit Mayapur (Largest vedic temple) , Elora Caves or Kailasa temple If you ever come next time in India. 👍👍And always try to use Metro If available , It's cheap and good.
Beautiful family don't let this experience lower ur moral to travel around. Bad experiences teaches a lot.

Uber is the safest way to get anywhere from the Delhi airport. The airport has free wifi which you could use to book a cab. If you have already stepped outside the airport and can’t access the wifi then find a cafe close by something like a Starbucks, Cafe Coffee day or Barista who also usually have wifi.
If you don't find online option to book cab at Airport, Use Delhi traffic police prepaid booth for booking cab, Kiosk is there inside and outside at Airport Arrival gate. Sorry to hear, you have to go through all this bad experience in our Country. Don't worry this scammer will never be happy in life by doing scam for money.
Thanks buddy posting such issues in blog ... We are sorry for this, request you to use always prepaid taxis to avoid such scams. Thank you
Ram Ram Brother 🙏 Use Station Wifi ...use taxi apps
not only foreigners even Indians got scammed in delhi...always use online taxi apps like uber, ola in india specially delhi...
Sorry for your experience.
delhi airport now has banned Autorickshaws in the vicinity. and app based cabs are charging 5 times at the airport. the regular rates. Full monopoly. in the capital city.
This is a common scam in Delhi, many people have fallen for this trusting the taxi driver. Even when I visit Mumbai my first Taxi is the hotel's own transfer. Now this may cost say 2000 rupees instead of 800 sometimes. However, they take you straight to the Hotel and you do not need to worry about the hassle.
I want your interview..
Hi. I had an identical start in India. it was dark, the sim card hadn't activated yet. Zoro information. some "friend" offered me an inexpensive taxi to my hotel. I made sure that it would actually take that much. on the way, he told me that wherever I was going, the police were guarding me and if they caught me, I would be quarantined for two weeks. he even gave me a phone number and I talked to "my" hotel. They are masters of extorting money. but it was a good refreshment for the rest of the journey
why not get a prepaid taxi at the Airport ? They do have them at Del Airport.
You can complaint any taxi booth or police station booth, they will handle these taxi scammers
We are really sorry for the inconvenience that you had .. . 😍
When do you planning to visit in nepal 🇳🇵
Sir, we are very sorry for your troublesome experience. Please note some points for next time travel. You can book taxi online through the WIFI network which is free in arrival terminal and book your taxi. And always take help of the security personal who has a batch CISF (Central Industrial Security Force). They will guide properly. Otherwise there are some pre-paid taxi booth are available just outside of the exit gate and they will book your taxi in government rate and provide good car and they will drop to your location.
Arrived in Delhi a few days ago and the exact thing happened from the yellow taxi stand. They took us to a fake information centre and made up reason why our hotel could no longer take us and that the information centre would help us find a place. They gave us the name of their hotel and we googled it in front of them, read the reviews and they all said scam! We told them what the reviews said and they all dropped what they were doing and ran outside down the street 😂
Sorry to hear.....
You looking like ranveer Kapoor Bollywood star 😀
As indian i bow down to you for this nonsense done by few idiots.. because of few people whole country has to face this... For these scammers foreigner are just way to earn 5 times money then that they actually deserve for there service...hope soon you visit again...
We Indian believe more in soul so we reproduce more, we know all big things, but very bad with small, we believe in humanity but not good with humans, my story is I always know when I am going to be scammed by taxi and hotel, what is very common scam by taxi driver is that they tell different price first and after dropping start asking for more and they change their behavior, start being rude. This also happened with me in Nepal, this man talked nice in car, but later after dropping asked for more so this is how we start our vacation with such a bad experience. The interesting thing that you will find such driver at tourist location and airport those are bastard out of bastard. Nice taxi driver and honest one usually not at airport.
Welcome bro in India
Hey 👋 come to Kolkata please 🥺
If you time next trip in India other side south india Tamil Nadu come north india there special Tamil Nadu kaveri it's type of special river ranganath temple thiruvannamalai Siva temple and more temple Tamil Nadu sorry for the taxi scam

Sorry for your bad experience in my country 😞 but next you visit India you should take a public transport like government owned bus it is changed not less it's all take you near by destination bus stop 🚏
I would recommend every foreigners coming to my country India to use various apps like OLA,UBER,RAPIDO,ZOOMCAR etc to travel around the city. Please don't take these Taxis. They will scam you. Only locals know how to deal with these Taxis. I hope you have a great journey 👍
Please tag Delhi police and aap gov with this video and i will get this to government official
I am sorry for that 🇮🇳

Sorry Brother to listen this. Hope you have a great time ahead.
I apologize for any misunderstanding but could you please clarify your statement or questions Love from India 🇮🇳
Please do the Indian Himalayas (Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal). Much better than Delhi-Agra. Also, you guys used Gatimaan Express, which is a better class of train. Most tourists use low tier trains to save money because they are backpackers. They spend 2 dollars on a 7-hour journey and expect luxury. Always stick with ride-shares Uber or Ola to avoid scams
I guess some start-up comapny must come up with some great solution so that foreigner didn't have to face any of such situation.....some IITan must work on this project and develop some platform to protect them from getting scammed
If you have any plan to visit Ujjain, Bhojpur (Shiv ji Famous temple) Please let me know i can join you and Sorry for the inconvenience
Delhi taxi's and tuk-tuks are the worst scammers of India. You won't find that scammy attitude in Mumbai.

Sorry this happened. Some details are blurry but I can take your word on what happened. Please know this is not what happens everywhere in India. Probably a few bad apples bringing bad name for the whole country. Sorry again you had to face this!
