CNA is underrated. It is ironically more objective than unregulated media outlets such as CNN & FOX which have alot of freedom to say what they want but abuse that to dish out fake news & false sentiments to bash the other political party. Not to mention, you've never seen CNA presenters & reporters getting "owned/fact-checked" because they are v knowledgeable & got their facts right.

Have to agree with this. Also SPH opinion pieces are pretty good. Let's not forget that the individual (Mupert Rurdoch) controls news outlets. How is that more independent to controlling the narrative?

Enjoyed the episode. The only reporter I’ve ever reached out to for praise was Steve. And he replied to my message too!!

as a young lad, she attracted me to watch Ch5 news. more than a decade later, as an adult, im still impressed with her presentation, professionalism and charm (and gosh does she still look good!)

This channel should get more subs.💯 About the video, judging by the introI thought we are going to see Singlish Otelli all the way, but didn't happen.😆 She switches between news anchor Otelli and Singlish Otelli throughout the interview. Steven still sounds like he's presenting some news program. Overall, nice to see them in a setting that's not related to news reporting.

Steven speaks impeccable English on air and off air. He’s really this down-to-earth & approachable person. Otelli, polished as she is, looks a little intimidating if I’m honest.

I didn't know Otelli has a really charming side to her. cute!

I started paying attention to news because of Otelli and now at age 21, it has become a habit to read and watch the news daily. I really miss Otelli on news 5 tonight tho! As for Steven, I remember he came to my JC and he gave us a talk about journalism in today's world and I started watching talking point ever since then too! Love your car Steven 😂 and keep up the good work :)

Being a News Anchor etc...is really heavily based off covering world affairs to become recognisable and paid well...you pay for the risk you take accordingly representing the media company you represent for. The more experience you get and the pay you get will rise accordingly together but it will take a genuine dedication for a decade or more to really be reaping rewards.

This actually like inspire me to become a news reporter lol

Enjoyed this interview!! I'm used to watching Steve being candid since he hosts documentaries and such, but not so much of Otelli. So it's really nice seeing her just not as a presenter.

Not high pay but enough to feed a family, a condo and a car.😅

I remembered the old times when Suzanne Jung and Steven Chia were the morning weekday presenters from 7am to 9am, presenting news and other lifestyle stuff, now times have changed, but the duty to present the news and all remains the same. Well done guys 👍

Watching both Talking Point and on CNA or Channel 5 is keeping me up to date of the 'current happenings' around the world especially CNA. I would usually watch CNA very often even before during my primary school days before going to Secondary school, up till now, still going strong with watching some CNA programmes.

I remember in primary school, my parents always wanted me to watch channel 5 news at 9.30 pm to get a better commend of my English and Otelli is always the new anchor every single week. Basically my childhood xD

From my professional interaction with many Singaporeans, one thing is very common and dominant , they work as an employee initially but after a while they accumulate capital and finally they open their own business. So being an employee is only temporary in natute, in the end to be an entrepreneur. Now I am like Singaporean managing my own business. I enjoy my life, my family, and my business.

What do news presenters talk about after the ending soundtrack comes on and the credits roll?

Finally get to hear otelli in her natural accent... yeah boi!! Although of all the reporting / anchoring done i think otelli has had more subtle mistakes than steven. Anyways if they had featured some other reporters it would've been more the merrier 😉 but covid measures 🤢

Yo I like Steve. I worked at a stats board some ten years ago, he was there to cover some event, and there was an ex PAP minister who was a guest of honor for that event. The event was on the opposite side of the road, so we walked behind the minister in a group to get there, it was kind of raining then, the minister refused someone holding an umbrella for him or what, and all of us behind him had to walk in the rain too. Then for some reason, Steve tilted to me and whispered some complaint (i cant remember what he said, but it was definitely to criticize the minister, like walau, this fella wtf something), I was sniggering and nodding my head, but at the same time thinking, oi aren't you gonna interview that guy in a bit? Had Steve dared to say that to the minister's face there and then, it would be Adios Muchachos for his career thats for sure. I figured if I were a journalist, I will feel exactly the same too ~~ There will be tonnes of people that I had to interview where I have to put up a smiling face on the screen, but behind curtains I will be rolling my eyes and hating their guts.

At 2:49, i wonder if there was a news clip. I don't remember this incident. If that happen today and 2010s, there would've been a news article talk about it. I'm curious to see that.

Steven Chia, Suzanne Jung my favourites for the Morning breakfast show if I am not mistaken. Otelli Edwards, Andrea Chang(can’t remember her last name) are all beautiful and eloquent presenters. One of my personal observations is that there needs to be better racial representation among those who present in front of the camera. Mostly it is Chinese or those who look East Asian or those with a mixed race background. Would be great to see a Melanin rich Indian for instance hosting a CNA show in the Primetime slot and having more visibility. It’s 2022 we ought to do better.

I wanna see the clip where otelli presented in her unglam look

2:09 he said if have 30 year experience, but don"t have a degree, there is a good chance they might hired and job experience counts more than paper qualification. If don"t have a journalism/ mass communication degree or a degree, how can we go gather journalism experience to work in CNA etc?

the experience does not have to be in journalism specifically. Jobs will require that you write well, speak well...these will help and count towards that "experience".
