We get the QS138 Road Legal Supermoto running, SHRED the rear tyre and break the fire alarm
Ғылым және технология
In todays episode we take a look at the QS138 road legal supermoto conversion we showed you just before xmas. We took a CPI SM50 and fitted a QS138 4000w air cooled motor, FarDriver ND96530 controller and a test battery from our battery dept.
During testing we ended up slaying the rear tyre and accidently triggered our fire alarm.
For enquires and sales please contact us via our email address sales@kilovoltbikes.com
We would like to make it clear we alerted the Greater Manchester Fire Brigade that our alarm was triggered falsely straight away - they said that because they had nothing to do would come and advise us on how to prevent any further false alarms.
They also helped us clear the tyre smoke from the workshop using a giant fan. As our workshop used to be a chemical works we have an elaborate fire/ security system in place.
We have had the fire alarm go off before and its never called out automatically turns out during our testing the excessive tyre smoke produced from the burn out triggered a level 2 fire alarm which is not manually resettable and required us to call GMFB to confirm a false alarm.
They knew there was no fire or emergency but just decided to have a quick look and help us out resetting the alarm . Massive shout out to them for taking the time out to assist us reset our alarm

Cool company you got! How much was that fine?🤑 Since my kx450 started spitting metal…I gotta question: what range do you guys typically get out of a qs138 supermoto build. And at what weight? The current weight of my bike is 107kg, I am willing to stack my bike full of batteries until it weighs 125/130kg…if that gives me the range I need. I need a 50km range. Realistic or should I just rebuilt my 450engine?
Looks like you could take a few links out of your chain
i have been looking at getting a fardriver for some time now. What throttle are you guys running?
@KiloVoltBikes

We us a generic twist throttle currently but may upgrade to a domino near the end of the buil
That chain is well loose bro. That will have you off your not careful. I’ll be doin a pit bike. But will do a road bike aswel. Good job 👍🏽😁

Chain got tightened again after we did the hall sensor test - as it requires spinning the motor at full power forwards and backwards and it was a brand new chain it stretched out instantly . All tightened by the end of the vid.. thanks for the comment and make sure you keep an eye out for our FPV vid coming soon 🙏

Ah, someone else noticed
Kilovolt ? About to start my journey with an enduro built was wondering hub motor 5000w or 8000w. Been reading online that the 5000w hub motor is better because of the weight. And 2 you'll never use the 8000w motor to its full potential. Need some Guidance. Thanks Great video be the way.

which ever motor you go for in my opinion make sure you purchase official QS205 or QS273 , theres allot of imitation motors floating around- Only buy the genuine stuff
Hi. Do you have any idea what's the difference between 138 and 165? On the description 165 has 5000w, and 138 only 3000w but 138 I see it's used more with heavy motorcycles...

Yes we use both motors regularly . The 165 is designed to be a bolt in Surron replacement motor . The 138 is probably twice the overall size and power of the 165 motor . We are not sure why it’s advertised as 3kw but it’s 100% far more powerful then the 165 at a sacrifice of size and weight.

@@KiloVoltBikes thanks for information. Keep doing what are you doing.👍
How much £££ for that burnout.....
I’m really curious about the qs138 motor. I want to do a 96v supermoto build. I am wondering what you get for top speed on a setup like this? Also I am loving the channel and all the content

We will be revisiting this project in the next few weeks. Including top speed and range testing . Beyond a few burnouts we didn’t really test it too much .

@@KiloVoltBikes Awesome I’m excited to see that video! I got my bell notification turned on 😁
is that QS138 one of those QS motors that can handle crazy amounts of power? its rated for 4KW but i heard some types of QS motors can handle way more than their nominal power rating
@KiloVoltBikes

Absolutely- it’s rated at 4kw but we often run it at 20kw + with no issues

@@KiloVoltBikes is there a specsheet with the mounting holes dimensions somewhere to be found? space is limited in my frame. also, i see it is rated for 72V? can it handle a 96V pack?

@@sanderveenman8907 yes there’s a data sheet with mounting holes . Your commenting on a video of a bike running a 96v battery and 138 ?

qs138, qs273 and I think qs 165 and 205 can handle 10kw+, 273 138 can do around 20kw, I've seen a person do 34kw on qs273.
