I had the same incident in the Tararuas DOC land. Cocky fired 4 bullets at me firing 800m away. He was a good shot and got within less than a metre. Went down after a big circle down to his place. Big punchup on his driveway. Rang police when i left. Nothing heard for 3weeks. 18months later all he got was $500 fine and his license gone. Big wallow up there too.

Far out that was full on farmer madness...the cannon was a good touch 😆 🤣 😂

I saw my Uncle once use a whitebait net to fish the dentures he pissedly chundered in to our septic tank out, bath them for while in Janola and rinse them off before reinsertion. Big shit eating grin.

I was out with three or four dogs in the forest hunting grouse a few years ago when suddenly bullets started slapping into the brush and trees around us. I dived in behind a tree and called my dogs in while the bullets kept hitting. After fifteen or twenty rounds came in they stopped. I ran back to my truck and hauled angry ass down the road to an area on a hilltop where I new people went target shooting. I found a guy and his kid target shooting so I questioned him about it. They had been shooting at a bird that must have been circling near me! I was beyond pissed off and chewed him out good but refrained from physical violence.

nah, think he needs to go to specsavers. We only just went to court a few days ago, he still has his guns and his license. Justice system is f____ in this country. If it was the police he shot at he would have got thrown in jail instantly.

Doesn't surprise me about the Farmer. Some of them think they not only own their land but also think they are Lords of the Doc Land around them. I've been hunting DOC land and had my tyres let down by the local Farmer. Also been approached by one and asked to see my DOC permit and Gun lic. Told him to go a stick it.... I think it hails back to early colonial times where Land Owners actually had delusions of grandeur and think they are above other people. He should definitely have his licence revoked. Discharging a firearm into an area where he knows there are people, failing to identify a proper target. You could probably take a private prosecution against him if the Police do nothing.. Unfortunately it's possible they won't. In these small towns I wouldn't be surprised if he's a drinking mate with the local Plod...

Best answer is to do a video about that block of DOC land extoling its virtues and show some great hunting footage. Then any time anyone says they had a good trip or any excuse in your video's drop in a "not as good as DOC block xyz"

That farmers lucky Josh is a good guy and handled it by calling the police! Some people take a very dim view of being shot at and could have handled it a number of very different ways 1 - Shot back. 2 - Come back in a couple of weeks and poisoned all of his livestock. 3 - Come back in a couple of weeks and sabotaged all his farm equipment. 4 - Come back in a couple of weeks and poured petrol through his letter box while he and his family sleep at night. That farmer could have basically just started an all out war with someone who he would have absolutely no way of retaliating against. He couldn't strike back or report them to the police because he wouldn't have a f**king clue who they are!! I remember seeing a post from Josh when this actually happened a few years back that the police didn't actually do anything about this, which I'm sure boosted the farmers macho ego and will only encourage him to continue this sort of behaviour. One day he will f**k with the wrong one and regret it...
