    I love how iskall was like “this is lame” then instantly tensed up and lost his bearings when the multiple wardens spawned😂😂 I agree that the sneaky gameplay feels slow, which is unfortunate, but you have to admit that the tension when the shriekers go off and wardens spawn is real

    the best way to speedrun an ancient city is to jump around and place wool where you are landing, which totally turns off your sounds. then break shriekers, loot, and if a warden spawns you can just quickly sneak away

    @@Char2936 Yeah XD Hate it when horror horrors. It's good there is a mob that you don't ever want to see, it's a great concept to have hence why horror games incorporate it so much.

    to note iskall, you can farm the warden, it's pretty much what tango did last season for getting the wardens in the warden parts of decked out, just you move them to a kill chamber instead of a place for them to chase you. Also the warden to be fair was designed to not be something players should attempt to beat, it's kind of meant to be like the dungeon guardian in terraria. Finally the 4 times thing you're understanding a little wrong, you get 3 warning shrieker activations that increase warning level up to 3, on the 4th shrieker activation a warden spawns, if you keep activating shriekers after the 4th it just keeps spawning wardens up until you haven't activated a shrieker in 10 minutes so your warning level can go down by 1(you'd need 30 minutes to reset your warning level completely)

    @@thehotwheelsreviews note the technically. It’s not harder to get, but it appears less frequently. There will be fewer of it naturally generating in a world.

    With ancient cities you get 3warnings on the fourth the warden spawns, after you get the fourth on once it will repeatedly spawn wardens after one shrieker. The time resets once youve left the ancient city for a while then when you come back it goes back up to the 4shrieks. Hope this helps!

    @@JacksonOwexit’s three warnings, then summons on the fourth. If you turn on subtitles so you can read what sounds happen it gives flavor text of what the warden is doing each shriek.

    The trick is going in without armor or any tools you'll miss. I use a shulker box full of iron hoes, with efficiency 4 and silk touch on each one. Setup a base somewhat near the ancient city. Run through taking out the skulk sensors. If you die, grab a new hoe, and go a different direction.

    No no, what you need to do is to build a line of TNT duping excavators… They tried to balance making it a scary challenge, but not to the point where the Warden feels like a cheat. That leaves a lot of options for how to go about it if you don't want to actually interact with the ancient cities like they were intended. For one you could just go do some mining while the shriek charges wear off, then return with a fresh set of 4. Leave when you hit three, rinse and repeat. So just find the option that makes it fun for you and go have fun really

    the ranged attack of the warden can go trough shield and armor, so it always does 7.5 hearts of damage on hard no matter what you are wearing, and while the melle attack doesnt, it can disable shields and is strong enough that you can maybe survive 4 hits, so whe ngoing to an ancient city it is better to not use armor, maybe a iron leggings with swift sneak that can be found in the chests just to sneak faster

    Pro tip of looting anciet cities: break chests you've already checked! if you don't want the items, let them despawn.

    The funny thing is that mojang described the warden as a "a force of nature that isn't supposed to be killed" Cuz if you kill it, they just respawn.

    thanks, I was going to comment something like this. The warden (in vanilla) doesn't even drop anything of value. It's meant to be something you avoid.

    They did change their minds on the Warden drops, it drops a single catalyst. But given the effort it takes to kill one they are one of the least useful mobs to farm. Of course, they had to pick some point to balance it at. There's no reason they couldn't make it invulnerable, give it enderman teleports, etc. But it'd be too much and not give people a chance to work around it in creative ways. I think they also didn't want to make it too terrifying, people would just avoid the city entirely that way. I'm sure there's people who refuse to go into ancient cities as it is, but at least there's several options for how to deal with the ancient cities and get the rare stuff from it.

    HALLO Iskall, Shelobs here, hope you're doing well. Couple of bits of info about ancient cities/wardens if you want them (mostly just interesting tidbits, nothing that's really spoilery). (If you don't read them now, come back after Ren's blind date with the warden and read them). Four triggers before a warden spawns is correct, however that's only the first time you come to a City. I think you need to completely unload the area or maybe it's a timer? for it to reset to 4 times. If you don't then it will spawn a warden on every subsequent shrieker trigger. The special blocks are technically breakable, it just takes forever. They sadly will not drop the block. In the area underneath those blocks there's a redstone tutorial area. Not a great tutorial, but some of the basics of redstone components (including skulk sensors) get demonstrated there. For the shrieker you couldn't find: You can watch the skulk sensors in order to find out where it is, as they'll send out a particle towards the shrieker to activate it. Alternatively you can just break all the sensors and the shrieker won't be able to go off unless you stand directly on it. If you're walking on wool blocks, then you don't have to sneak to not set off the sensors. This actually includes carpets (not moss carpets though). Either your shaders or the vanilla settings fro the darkness are messing with the darkness effect slightly, so you're not getting the full experience. For a true deathmatch with the warden without cheesing it, the only way to do it is with a dozen totems and some well timed replacement when they pop. (It's quite challenging) An even better deathmatch would be to clear out an ancient city of all shriekers except one and then have a half dozen hermits use only their fists to kill it while it chases you through the ancient city. Each hermit's respawn bed is at a different place in the city. Maybe turn it into a speedrun competition with 2 teams of hermits?

    the 3 warnings is on a cooldown, 10 minutes per warning, so waiting 30 minutes will totally rest your shrieker cooldown

    Ladders are naturally generated in ancient cities. Also, the warden spawns after 4 times, and then every time you set off a shrieker following it. Ancient cities are actually really easy if you don't go in like Rambo. You can also distract a warden by not hitting him and instead luring them into a constant observer trapdoor trap. Also, warden will despawn after 2 or 3 minutes if they don't detect you at all.

    I liked that you looked up as little as possible tbh. We've had more than enough of pro warden dodging/sneaking with all the Decked Out content last season. Seeing y'all run around was very entertaining. :) Might I suggest night vision potions next time you go? You'll still have the darkness affect but it won't be that bad. Turtle Master potions could be fun to bring as well. And a tip if you want to make a city completely safe without even having to remove the shriekers that Impulse & Tango used quite a bit last season: make a redstone noisemaker, maybe 2 or 3 if the city is particularly large. Any wardens spawned will be drawn to the noisemakers and leave you alone. ^_^

    I did a quick Google. You've probably gotten this info by now - Each time you activate a Shrieker, your personal "Warning Level" goes up by 1 - If you go 10 minutes without activating another shrieker, it goes down 1. After warning level 3, every shrieker summons a Warden.

    When going with Ren. Prepare iron gear. Worden attacks ignore the armor. So you need only pick and hoe. Bow and arrow. Maybe snowballs for distraction.

    @@adamlagerqvist8111 It ignores armor and shields. Shrieks deal 15HP damage, melee 45HP (even with netherite prot 4 you'll get one hit). The only thing that it doesn't ignore is resistance effect.

    @@JaegerDreadful no you are wrong A. Warden does 30 DMG (15 hearts ) in normal mode which the hc server is on B. Although it is true wardens sonic shriek bypasses armour but the melee attack doesn't you can survive 2 warden hits with full prot 2(or above it doesn't matter)diamond armour

    @@mukulsaini2482I am fairly sure HC is on hard mode, which is what I based it on. They probably are, for the ease of curing villagers and what not. Idk where you got normal from but all the results I got said they were on hard. Also don't be so passive aggressive mate, it's a minecraft video and I also looked at the same wiki page as you did lol. Edit: They are using a data pack "Hard on start" so that suggest they are playing on hard mode man. Also you can see the shriek doing 15 damage to iskall IN THIS VIDEO meaning they play on hard.

    A tip: when you trigger a shrieker, don't crouch. There's a cool down until any shrieker triggers again, look for particles, rush towards it and break it

    Fun Fact: You could also put wool on all sides of the shriekers, wool blocks make no souds when you walk on them, break them, place them. They deafen the sounds and thats why you could mine the wool in the ancient cities and use that wool to place them around every schulk shrieker, it will cost you nothing.

    Btw. Each shriek increments a counter and resets a timer. Counter goes up to 3 and then 4th shriek summons warden. But warden summon doesn't restart the counter. That's why you trigger them with one shriek later on. Counter goes down a level after X minutes (don't remember). The level you are on also determines warden sounds it does (on the levels when it doesn't summon him yet) so you can know what level you are on based on that

    Playing slowly and taking the shriekers out in sync actually was really cool to me because it’s really similar to the strats for playing GTFO and imo it added a straight up paranoid horror element to the game, but I get why you wouldn’t want to go that slowly around the whole deep dark, wish there was some sort of middle ground

    Iskall, if you don't want to sneak around so carefully, you can also try to trap the Warden as he spawns. The animation takes quite a long time and if you build wool pillars (which block sound) around the central block where the warden spawns (the warden is only 1 block wide) you can trap the Warden and he won't even be able to hear you and shoot you

    Iskall, if you and Stress get tired of killing the Wardens, it is fun to toss snowballs across the room to misdirect them as a diversionary tactic. They will follow the sound of the snowball. Wardens sniff but they are also led by sound. With the wool no footsteps are heard if walking normally, then you don't have to sneak. Looking forward to your next trip to the Deep Dark!

    Imo sneaking is fun but you need to use wool so you can build up, parkour and open chests/destroy shriekers without spawning the warden. Also farming wool from the ancient city itself instead of bringing my own feels so cool!

    My only thing is - dont wear armour. The shriek ignores armour and will always do 7-8 hearts. The melee attack isnt, but just don't get close xD

    It's great that you and stress went back, and nailed. Glad you said it was boring sneaking around it is a strange, but that regen potion was op. maybe that's a way to fight them potion up after a hit

    So the way it works is it takes a shrieker level of 4 to spawn a warden but once one spawns you don’t go back to a level of 0, you go to a 3. To tick down a shrieker level you have to wait 15 minutes, or 45 to get from 3 back to 0

    Btw if you don't anger them and keep sneaking or go to an area that's clear of sculk, they go back into the ground in their own kind of despawn mechanic

    if you jump, you can uncrouch in the middle of the jump and crouch again when you land to avoid the shriekers. Also, parkour on carpets as you place them helps.

    I love how Iskall sounds as if he discovered something but it's actually something everyone does to make ancient cities easier and faster to navigate :D. The issue is if there are other shriekers nearby (and sensors) and they pick up the break sound. To prevent that you need wool isolate other sensors or the block you are breaking. And that just results in people not doing it, cause it's a hustle. So they sneak/walk on wool, wool isolate chests, loot and skiddadle

    I think everyone has a personal counter for how many times they triggered a shrieker and after the first 3, it will always summon a warden.

    for further missions- theres a setting that turns your shift to toggle. i use it bc of pinkie issues and it makes things a lot easier in ancient cities

    There is a mod to activate the sensors via the voice chat mod. It adds another layer of hardness if you can’t talk with your mates while looting together

    The whole point of the Warden is you're not supposed to fight it, you're supposed to die if it spawns and you can't sneak away. that's why they made it overly powered in terms of health and the shooting through walls

    You can dodge the sonic attack, just run further away, think it have a 50 block reach or something like that. Also, if you dont attack it and stay silent, it will get bored and crawl back into earth.

    The sneaking mechanic is only aggravating the first time you loot a city. Once you got swift sneak 3, you sneak at 75% normal speed which makes it quite fun.

    Activating shreakers with voice mod is so much fun. It was tested in the life series. Especially fun when you have 5+ members down there.

    Iskall. Players are walking on wool, and they separate themselves with wool from surroundings when they open chests, or breaking shrieks.

    I believe that the warden spawn logic is that the first time he spawns is 4 shriekers, the second time he spawns, it’ll take 2, and every spawn after is 1 shrieker. It’s sort of like an awareness mechanic!

    No there is a timer in which to spawn the first time it takes 4 then it will spawn everytime after 1 When the timer ends you will need 4 times again and so on

    There is actually an inegration for the voice mod to make it activate skulk sensors. Its very scary

    Wardens do not despawn like other mobs do. After a certain time, they burrow back into the ground.

    The cool portal blocks are breakable but they don't drop. I am pretty sure they are movable with a piston. At least they use to be.

    With the shriekers it’s a 4 strike system for the first one. After you hit max strikes they spawn every time. The strikes disappear over time, though I forget what the rate is for that. As for the way the warden actually agros, Etho explained it well but I can’t remember exactly. Basically they get angrier the more they detect you and hitting them instantly puts them at max aggro, but their aggro falls off pretty quickly if you leave them alone and are out of detection range

    If I'm not mistaken if you collect a certain amount of disc Fragments, I believe it's 9 could be could be 8. You can get a special music disk.

    Iskall, I have to say that these videos are a great idea. I can listen to them while playing myself and I don't feel like I have to focus 100% of the time like with main videos that are cut so there is something happening all the time. This way I can enjoy hermitcraft a lot more actually 🙂 Thanks for making these and have an awesome day!

    You could have done better as far as not spawning wardens in the first place by bringing some wool and surrounding each shrieker with wool before you break it. That way breaking the shriekers won't set off the nearby shriekers. Also, when a warden spawns in, don't panic. Don't run away. Just hold sneak and HOLD STILL until it despawns. I don't think it's weird at all that a sonic blast can go through walls. That's pretty much what sonic means. :) Plenty of enemies in other games have similar things.
