    I’m loving the frogs in the background! Interesting that the Subaru Solterra has a camera button that if I’m not mistaken I have seen on while driving forward in a review. That the Solterra also has regen paddles on steering wheel seems that it would allow greater regen control on decent though likely available only with X-Mode off. Great review for us to see the capabilities.

    For the front view and camera you have to put it in automatic mode so that every time the car gets below 30 miles per hour or stop the front view activates itself automatically. The automobile is very capable. Some people are trashing it because it does not have a very long range and it charges slowly. Lightning could charge a car really fast, but we don't want that. We people don't know what we ask for sometimes. Let's go places and go with the flow!

    On all of the external shots, it sounds like there's a car horn blaring in the distance, 4:51 , 11:36 , 13:55 etc. Was that actually coming from the busy-forks as some sort of pedestrian safety thing, or was there actually a car horn in the distance? That sound would drive me nuts if it came from the car!

  • @rylans.5365

    @rylans.5365

    Жыл бұрын

    That is indeed the pedestrian warning sound. However, the sound is being altered and amplified through the recording device, and doesn’t sound like that in person. Sure it may resemble a cars horn based on the high frequency, but it’s more of a white noise. Furthermore, the forward sound is barely audible in the cabin with the windows up, so its not really an issue for any driver or passenger. Car companies work with sound engineers to create a specific sound with different frequencies and pitches to alert pedestrians and the visually impaired.

    You clearly don’t understand the importance of a pedestrian warning system. First of all, the sound isn’t a hindrance or con, and was created simply because of the quiet nature of EV’s and hybrids. It’s not obnoxiously loud, but it’s loud enough to alert vulnerable road users and the visually impaired to the car’s presence. A safety sound from a speaker should be the least of your worries.

    The issue isn't can it overland. The issue is can it arrive to the location in a practical manner. Like, if your trail is near your house, or you're driving with a RV and are towing the car, that makes sense. But many don't. If you're driving upstate to go camping etc, that range and fast charge time are really going to hurt you, especially until Rivian builds out their wilderness network. And I get that some people will be all like "then use a gas car for this" but that defeats the purpose of buying this trim.

    Range just isn't going to be an issue on the type of trails you'd be doing with a unibody crossover, it's legitimately difficult to find trails systems longer than 200 km (round trip), and ones longer than that are so severe that they are outside the purview of what you'd be doing in a crossover, anyways. The single most annoying thing about the Busyforks/Solterra will be it's dog-slow DC fast charging, it's really especially stupid because the front wheel version of the vehicle has a different battery with decent charging, and they put the crappy battery in the AWD version - what the hell is that all about? One can tolerate good range and bad charging, and can tolerate having bad range and good charging, but if you have both of those things you've got a problem.
