In Bangkok or other places you might see that beef mataba is more expensive than chicken mataba, similar to beef or chicken kebabs. But here, most of the sellers are Muslims who are the originators of making roti and mataba, but surprisingly, this auntie sold beef and chicken at the same price and much cheaper. Now you look refreshed, eating delicious food that could be your savoury or desserts. Normally, other sellers won’t add condensed milk or sugar in the mixture of Roti with banana and egg before frying coz after frying it will be added again. If you don't like this, you can tell her that you don't want too much sweetness or in Thai “ Mai Waan Mak” (ไม่หวานมาก). As for mataba, it is eaten with a dipping sauce known in Thai as “ A-jard” (อาจาด) which has some tasty flavors mixed. This seller was so lovely. She gave you 2 free plain rotis. Each sheet was 10 baht, equal to 20 baht free. Thai people in every region of Thailand are generous. Guaranteed!

Best roti in Thailand must be in the south indeed especially in the three southern border provinces their food is one of the best. Many good Thai style muslim food, safe trip guys.

I grew up on these type of roti when I lived in Thailand. They are soft and has a nice chew to them. When went back to visit, I couldn’t find any in Bangkok. I only saw these trendy, thin crispy kind which isn’t the same and not as good as the real ones.

And that's why we love places like this 🙏🇹🇭 This roti is delicious, fairly priced and the lady is kind and respectful

The right way to eat Matabra roti is to dip a piece of roti into that little packet of sliced cucumber and green chilli first. It's a really nice VDO as always. I think if there's no periodical unrest in the three southern provinces caused by some groups of seperatists, it'd be one of the best places in Thailand to visit. Wish you both the best time in the South.
