Bollywood post-pandemic has gone down south. I think only SRK has really understood the current situation of Indian Cinema World. That's the reason he himself has put in his money (under his production) in a flim like JAWAN (An Original flim) and allowed Director Atlee to direct and Tamil Superstar Vijay Setupati to act as a villan at an mind-blowing budget of 300 crores. Not just that but also making some good relationship South Indian Actors, Directors, etc (probably one of the first ones to do so). Where other Khans and Kapoors are yet planning to remake other regional films. I am NOT an SRK fan it's just a thing I've noticed about him recently.

There is something missing here. The south Indian movies used to be good at creating great movies with good stories. But they lacked an exposure (platform) to show and Bollywood was not reachable to them then. But the epidemic and OTT platforms created an opportunity for them to show the contents around world. And there will be no more stopping for them.

Not true. The formula of bollywood was almost same in most movies , romance, dance ,item songs and people are done with it. In Telugu the formula is mass unrealistic action and there are many people who still loves it, those goosebump fans. The best industries don't have a general movie formula,, Bollywood and Tollywood i don't think much different,, both poor but Tollywood survives with its mass action movies abd bollywood formula is not working. Malayalam and nowadays Tamil are best in India they don't have a formula in making ,try variety content but doesn't have much reach. Bollywood must stop poor quality remakes, stupid romantic cliche trashes ,otherwise it will never come back.

There ae nepotism in Kollywood too but if they didn't entertain audience, they will be forgotten. If a new comes comes in and performs well. everyone appreciate it. Though I’m a little late commenting, but just loved the content and the hard work you all put along. That little comedy in between the concept clips are just the cherry on top. Just want to add one point to this is, the emerging videos of influencers or movie reviewers has also impacted the movie performance a lot. Though it be the subscribers deciding upon whether to watch it or not after their creator supports based on his/her favourite actors or interested movies. Hope bollywood works on their mistakes and revives quickly.

500 rupee is roughly 6 USD, which in my native Los Angeles, is about the price of a budget ticket. That doesn't take into account the buying power of the average American vs average Indian. No wonder more people across the world are going to theaters less. Sidenote: Most tickets here are almost 3x that Indian price at 15 usd, or over 1200₹. Very unaffordable and makes it a 'special event' thing for most.

Dude, it's an industry of entertainment, not a cult. Its about quality and not legacy, and bollywood stands as an industry of entertainment for the audience, bollywood on itself is nothing without its audience as it's not a religion or anything where we are supposed to worship the actors. It's a system whose job is to entertain, and now it has started failing to do its job. So naturally as an audience we will turn to better alternatives. And it's not that south movies just got good now, they have always been good, it's just that opportunity for exposure and platforms for viewership has increased now and so people just realized now that its soo good. Bollywood had no competition before due to lack of platforms, but now it does. More options mean more room for comparison and criticism and If bollywood cant stand against any of it now, then it means it was never as strong in the first place.

what south Indian movie do you know instead of bahubali, RRR, rajnikanth movies, and all that mentioned in this video. at 5:05 its very insulting and immature explanation - I am from Kerala, and my industry works on content and is internationally appreciated. we don't go to theatres just because someone is a superstar or a big idol; people here are intelligent enough and they check reviews, study that background of the director, and then only visit the cinema hall. Tamil industry movies used to collect from our land long ago; but nowadays, if the content is good, then only people watch. Vijay's movies are trolled here coz in his every movie he is the omnipotent saviour with no depth and shades. I personally felt the main issue of Bollywood and even the writers of this video is that they see collections hits popular culture and talk and work only based on that stats; and years of Bollywood vs South movies. GUYS! its just lack of research, coz if u start seeing every cinema from SOUTH india (according to map), then North indian film industry should be bollywood, bhojpuri, marathi and so and so... why never include them in the belt. So if a film maker start making good content and work on content rather than popularity and commercial success, there is HOPE! thank you for reading this! Let me go watch - JAYA JAYA JAYA HEY, KUMARI, 1744 white alto, Vichitram, Romanjam and many more wonderful movies coming this week.

9:45 See, It's not completely true, people do watch true to life movies. Movies like Chhichore, Jab we met, Madaari, Jolly LLB are those movies who had no action at all but are just grounded movies with some comedic salt. Everyone loved these movies but nowadays movies like Gehraiya . It's something that you just cannot relate. We Indian have never gone to cruise and our life's have much different problems and situations then what is shown in this kind of movies. Thats why they fail. And coming to Masala content, Salman movies are still Masala content but did people watch IT ? no . There is difference between bollywood and tollywood today. that South India is making actually good movies not just over the top action. And Bollywood is just has no creativity at all nowadays , they just have boring movies that's all it is as simple as that.

Honestly just waiting for a well written 'audience entertainer' from Bollywood with actually funny jokes, memorable characters and a good plot. You're right, people mostly want movies they can escape into, which Bollywood did so well back in the 2000s, but nowadays they've started dumbing down their comedy/escapist cinema and make the scripts absolute shit to the point where watching a Bollywood comedy/masala movie essentially feels like watching a 2 and a half hour long skit on tiktok.

It is ignorance, and unfortunately some of it is because things get massively lost in translation. But also they do have a point as to why people like these few popular Tollywood movies more than other films. They're so larger than life that it's fun to lose yourself in the story and visuals for 2.5 hours.

Agreed - and I am going based off your comment -> The newcomers don't have the same charm the previous generation of actors/actresses had. Movies/storylines are also not made the same way they used to be, there is a reason DDLJ, K3G, KHNH, and many more 90's/early 2000's movies are still so popular til this day - they are the kinds of movies you can go back and watch as many times and not get tired. Now, most Bollywood movies are just remakes of Hollywood or South Indian Cinema. The songs used in the newer movies are already popular Punjabi songs just remade. The originality is gone. The new content is just cringe. Of course, some may argue that times have changed... but the charm is gone. I feel like Bollywood is just trying to hard to be western/social media based. The content now is just so slow and dumbed down. There has been no proper "family movie" in a while either. I guess this is also the fault of the audience to some extent: many people enjoy commercial movies rather than something heartwarming, which is probably why the 2000's movies still hold such a high place today. Honestly, Bollywood needs a good script/storyline, good punchlines or jokes, and most importantly.. a STRONG cast who actually know how to act. No one wants to go to the movies and waste their time on nonsense. The audience wants to escape their reality for a little.

They roasted South Indian movies in the sketches and I see many still thinking the video is a matter of pride for South Indians

At the tenth minute you made it feel like people watch south films only due to their high octane action masala movies ignoring artsy and mediocre budgets. We guys in south prefer medium budget films alot. A super fucking lot actually. Sita Ramam, Karthikeya 2 had small budgets but are industry hits because the type of original content they have and care to detail in the film making. Moreover, another reason why South does better is South films generally don't induce propaganda through their movies. They stick to societal values and break stereotypes in a convincing way(Bollywood does it by straight up hurting sentiments) but lately South films also seem to mildly induce agendas of directors and actors in films

I hate how to still kinda portray Tollywood Films as cringe whereas the stories are super well thought out and presented and not the fact that they are mindless entertainers.

Perfect video. Although, a special mention from my end: Vikram (2022) This was a Kamal Haasan movie from South that became a success solely because of word of mouth and its action sequences and gripping story. Also, the final scene was🤯🤯🔥

9:23 The problem is not Bollywood westernizing content. The problem is selective westernization. They only try to use western location and copy western lifestyle but they are not willing to put the amount of efforts which western directors, writers and actors put in their movies. They are not willing to be as creative and as committed as western people in the entertainment business but only want to copy the lifestyle and accent to look superior.
