That place was called FPC boron. I used to work there when I first started with the bureau. That place was called our training center where we held gatherings once a month and we also worked out there. All those houses were staff housing for the upper management. The biggest house in that circle was the wardens. I ran the last shop on the left before you get to the FAA tower. I ran the communication shop

Every time I see videos of abandoned homes in the middle of nowhere, I wonder whether I could fix one up and live in it without being harassed or get into any trouble for doing so. I prefer being far, far away from people and living in the middle of nowhere would be great. I lived in a tent for almost a year west of Phoenix, AZ, just south of I-10. It was so awesome and peaceful.

I think exactly the same. However I live in the UK and all public space is owned by either local councils or Ministry of defence or National trusts. Every where has lots of rules and laws attached so you could not just find some where derelict and live there, even living in a tent is some woods a local council would move you on. It seems that there is much more freedom in the USA do do these types of things. Are the ghost towns out there owned by anyone or could you in fact move in and live there? All land in the UK is owned by someone even the PUBLIC land

Hey guys really enjoy your channel. Want to give you an update. The whole facility has been removed. The only thing left is the FAA RADAR tower. There is a great deal of history in the area, for instance the crash sites for the YB49 (the pilot who died in the crash is the person that Edwards AFB is named after) , XB70, the Borax mine, AFRL rocket site and much more. This area has a very long history of strangeness.

That is the Boron Federal Penitentiary, used from 1979-2000. a low security facility in the middle of nowhere, so no walls. From 1952-1975 it was Boron Air Force Station, a RADAR station for Edwards AFB. Most of the buildings date to the Air Force era.

My great grandfather owed 200 acres of land out in Yarnell Arizona. He left it to the family. But since then the owner of the land next to our land took the water source. The rushing river that ran through the land is no more. It had 3 houses and an outhouse. Now there’s just 1 house and the place were the food was cooked. It was like a benched area. It’s been years since any family has gone out there. Probably 20 years. It be nice to you all to go out there and explore. There used to be a water pump but someone stole it last time we were out there 19 years ago. The owners next door also put up a fence so we can’t access our own land. I remember seeing lots of old building and structures out there going towards the land.

The chainsaw damage was probably the fire department from when they were putting out the blaze. They cut holes in walls and roofs to search for hidden fire and to provide access for personnel ans water when there is no other option.
I remember when that prison was still active. The Navy base is really close and Air Force base thats why all the jet noise. I live right there. Love the videos keep up the good work.
I LOVE your videos. You're the type of parent I hope to be when my kids grow up. I'd love to go urban exploring with my two daughters once they're older. 20 years ago I lived a few miles away from there we all called the place club fed the radar tower behind where the bunker was part of the near by base I wont say the name do to vandals. but the area was active during that time and about 2 miles from where you are was a Hugh underground complex. they tore all the above ground structures down and sealed all under ground do to there was some kids that where murdered there.
Love the videos!!! I love how you thoroughly explore through everything!! Awesome narrating as well. ❤💙

Another great video! Bob you are the coolest explorer around. And Emma's laughter is the best. You two have a great sense of humor.
Judging by the hammer marks on the walls that run to the light switches and on the walls it's had all its copper striped out for scrap and I dare bet that's why it's looking so smashed up, like you say it's a shame as it would of looked pretty mad to see how the prisoners lived and how decent the jail was.
Love your explore videos, I like the live videos too but I hope you keep doing both, keep up the good work!

Just did some quick research on Boron. It was only closed 18 years ago! It closed in 2000 and all they did was board it up. The pictures of when it first closed show what it looked like before the vandals arrive. It was very pristine and well built. It looked like somewhere I would rather go if I had to do prison time as opposed to going to a traditional prison.

That big building was some type of business. Or cumminty center like you said. The first thing that gave it away was the yellow safety paint on the end of the steps. The place was also wired with BX electrical wiring another giveaway of a commercial building.

Tks for posting, always nice to see the sort of country I grew up in. Congrats to whoever does the editing, real good at cutting just at the right time. Wondering if you ever make it so southern Arizona. Know a place that would make a real good vid. Going by the roads going to this place, no one has been there in a very long time, and it is so far out in nowhere that I doubt other than a few local ranchers might have been to the place. Only reason I know about it is my grandfather use to own a cattle ranch close to it. Spend summers their and always wanted to check this one place out, and if the equipment would still be there and no one around it would be REALLY interesting.
