WE FOUND A MONSTER MONTANA AGATE!!! Our First Yellowstone River Rock Hunt of the Year!
In this one, we FINALLY make it to the river for the first time in 2023! We have been getting some very nice weather that has been teasing me for a month now; plenty nice enough to go out and rockhound, but the river was still covered in snow and ice. Well, the time has finally arrived, and over the last week, the banks have finally thawed! So we loaded up the dogs and headed out to the river to look for some agates! We were certainly not let down, because we found some incredible stones! Nice moss agates, colorful jaspers, fossil conglomerates, agatized wood, and to top it all off, one of the largest Montana agates I've ever found! It was one AMAZING inaugural hunt for 2023! Unfortunately the snow is back on its way, so it may be a little while before I can get out again, but I DID get out once more before the snow arrived! I hope you all enjoy this one, and I will have another one out soon!

I love your videos. I thought I would thank some of my favourite KZreadrs. I'm an armchair rockhound. I can't actually go myself because a stroke has left me partially disabled and affected my balance, but I do enjoy it vicariously through you and others.
Absolutely stunning! My favorite was probably the agatized wood, but I love all the jelly goodness!
I love the red and green jasper
The yellow and red one @8:00 will be awesome cut. The wood right after is awesome also.
My dream is to travel to Montana and go to the river and hopes to run into you, Alexis and the other Montana folks. Kate, Kim, Alex.
Wow that was an awesome hunt. That jasper with the green spot was cool but the agates and the petrified wood really took the show. Thanks for doing the video sir. 👍
Great finds Theo!
Bands a make me dance bands a make me dance, been craving a hunt video and glad you had some great finds! Keep up the great content
A very big nice agate !
The one wavy wood was wonderful!
Woohoo, after a couple collection videos surely comes a cutting video….right? ❤ Can’t wait.
Love all the rocks.
Monster is right! Congrats!
I adore Floyd. I love how he always pays so much attention to you and listens to you. Lol. He is a really good boy though. An amazing companion. What an amazing day on the Yellowstone! The agate was enormous and you do have big hands. When Alexis had to use two hands to even hold the agate, it's big. I'm glad you got to get out on the river and hunt rocks. The red plumy jasper was awesome. And the pet woods are gorgeous. But my favorites are always the fossils! So cool. The baculites were aplenty! And of course the monster agate! Wouldn't it be awesome if it was an iris too! Crossed fingers on that for you. The weather never does what we want it too, but I'm glad you got to get in a couple quick hunts before the snow. Maybe it won't be as bad as they say. Lol yeah right! Fingers crossed for you! Thanks Theo and Alexis and our fur baby family! But floyd will always hold my heart. ❤
Nice return to the river, 😮 so many awesome rocks. Waiting for a cutting video.
So nice to see the whole gang outside again, great finds. Hey! Same here for the on and off snow storms. 🇨🇦 Take care
Really nice finds.
Oh that little old dog looked worn out❤ You know me I'm a petrified wood girl. I'm excited to see these cut. So glad you could get out on the river
very cool beans glad you got out before more snow. Thats green looks super promising.
So many beauties. Lucky you!
Great finds Theo!! That huge flood last year moved the giant gravel bar!! It looked so much different.... Its so crazy how powerful water is 😮 😱
Outstanding slabs.!! Enjoyed the video immensely, thanks and have a good holiday
Such beautiful finds!! Don't worry about us, we know spring/summer weather is just around the corner and there will be lots more finds to...well...find!! 🤣 Great video Theo and looking forward to more!! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Great job and dang you are a large person, definitely can't tell from videos. Pictures never do justice.
Oh wow that really is a great rock!❤ love the dogs😂
It's so great to be out hunting after this long, snowy winter! Looks like there were some big changes after the flooding. We were up there on the Yellowstone last summer, and know what you're talking about. You still found some great stuff!
What an amazing hunt you had today. It will be nice to look forward to getting out again.
Awesome way to start the year Theo...👌That agate is huge, can't wait to see you cut it.. Probably be sending you another box of goodies this summer ...👍
Wow you found some awesome rocks. The agatized wood was so beautiful. That's awesome you found such a big agate on your first hunt this year. Always nice seeing the kiddos out with you guys too.
Well theo we were there also saw Kim but didn't say hi love your videos hope to meet you guys some day . Super jealous of your new saw !! Keep kicking ass
So happy to see you, Alexis and the puppers out on the river again. I can't pick a favorite this time.
When you are happy, we are happy too! The Yellowstone is def bucket list material for me. So hard to choose but I love the fossils!
BOO YA! Fantastic! I've got to get back to my local hot spot; damn the arthritis.
Got some nice picks that time! ❤👍👏

Oh wow.i envy ur place where u can find so beautiful rocks.where i live doesnt have such places(simo, north finland)and snow is still very much
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Watching rockhound friends hunt on The Yellowstone has spoiled me! To me it's like rock porno . Lol.
Cool stuff I will be going hunting soon
I have never studied geology, or rocks, it's always been "look at the pretty rocks!" My dad had gravel trucks so lots of gravel pits and limestone quarries. Therefore lots of rocks. I have found so many rocks similar to yours, just never realized what I had. It's encouraging to watch your videos. My stepdad's grandpa was a rock hunter 70 years ago or more, in his collection he had an agate that had been sliced that looked like a mini full body stained glass picture of Christ.

I had a p.s., I remember one gravel pit about 6 miles west of Nebraska's western border. I believe that was Wyoming, I think. The quarry had scooped out so much petrified wood, agatized that I took a laundry basketful home to Iowa. My Mom put it all out on her patio. Now I am in West Virginia, anything to see here?
Happy for your success on that hunt! Those rocks are soooo clean compared to when I was down last summer. Eagerly awaiting the fossil prep vid for that baculite concretion Theo!! What a great first hunt. Give the pups a scratch behind the ears for me.
Monsters
Terrific first hunt of 2023! Amazing finds, love all of the agates, jaspers, petrified wood, and fossils, especially the petrified wood with that awesome wavy grain. Those jaspers are fantastic! Of course the agates are incredible. Congratulations on finding that huge one, with banding and beautiful dendrites throughout! It sure was a beautiful day. Looking forward to seeing the baculites uncovered and cleaned up with the gorgeous sutures. All of your dogs are so cute, but there is something so special about Floyd, he's such a sweet boy. Thanks for sharing your day and new beauties!✌️🤠🤘
Ahh back on the river!! Hey this is off subject but do you know what happened to Gravel Bar Hopper? I know there were bad storms a year ago-but nothing from him since then-just hoping you may have heard from him. Anyway miss his vids
I want one!
Nice! I love the jasper-agates! Do you sell rocks and/ or slabs?
Theo , where about on the Yellowstone do you go. I want to come up there from Pocatello, Idaho in the summer.
What a great first hunt of the year. It was great to see Alexis out there too. The doggies were fun but the monster agates were great and I loved the jaspers (jaspers are my friends). Glad all went well. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒ Cut, cut, cut!
I love Jasper, good to see some color there, for us, on the screen, everything is grey until you spray the rocks. Good finds.
I almost can't watch I got yellowstone fever but winter is almost over
I'm not going to lie I'm kind of jealous at how big your rocks are mine are very sad and little
My favorite it that big one just wondering how much does it weigh I don't think you told us unless I spaced out and didn't hear lol but ya I need to know your awesome keep the rocks coming
I sure hope you play piano with those hands!
You didn't pick up the golden yellow jasper right next to your more colourful specimen at 7:53??? Or is that colour too common on the yellowstone to bother about?? Also there's a really nice lump of silcrete, crystalline limestone/marble or travertine in that same time stamp to the left :)
Near Billings?
I'm torn between the agatized wood and the fossils.
CC says "agad eyesed" when you say, "agatized."
