At last an explore with no graffiti and not trashed . That was a beautiful thatched cottage in prime condition ( except for the cobwebs ) with so much to offer . It must have been an older woman who owned the place , what with all the crochet ( tatting ) work , framed or under way and who would leave a Mercedes in the driveway . Thank you so much , Steve , Eddy (Pompeye ) and you Alex for a terrific night out . The best Christmas wish to all of you , God Bless , Be safe , Stuart in Canada ..

As a couple of people have mentioned, Alfa are a Spanish company & started making sewing machines from the middle 1920s onwards &, at the time, were the only Spanish company to make them. Before that they used to manufacture Smith & Wesson guns. Not much else is known about them; they appear to be quite a secretive company. Their website contains no info about their history, origins or founders.

Brilliant gents. Ah the old kaolin and morphine. The trick back in the day when we were kids was to make sure the bottle sat still for a few days, the the clay separated out, then if you poured slowly you could drink the morphine mix. happy 1970s childhood memories. Totally forgot about that product! Cheers. X

Man to think of all the garbage we collect over a lifetime it is all just stuff to anyone else. I have items that I love my little trinkets but it is just junk. This house makes me want to toss, sell, or donate all the stuff lying around so my family doesn’t have to rummage through to see what to do with it all.

That first floor rug you came across is absolutely beautiful!

Qranium glass is glass which has had uranium, usually in oxide diuranate form, added to a glass mix before melting for colouration. The proportion usually varies from trace levels to about 2% uranium by weight, although some 20th-century pieces were made with up to 25% uranium Here in the States we call it Vaseline Glass.

Strange, but just like other abandoned homes, I guess. I hope someone can come in and save the beautiful porcelain, Chinese rugs, paintings, art prints, and so much more. Great house with quite a lot of valuable items. You guys skimmed over the LLadro figurines in the corner cabinet in the living room, but good call on the vaseline glass Ed! There were several large bolts of fabric in the garage, near the coat, so you know that old sewing machine was well used. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. And I hope someone gave Ed some ginger chews or peppermint for his noisy stomach, or at least gave it its own you tube channel.

Merry Christmas lads. The tax on that Merc needed renewed on 1st Jan 2018 & the MOT expired 2nd Sept 2018 so that gives us a possible date of between beginning of August 2017 end of December 2017 for the house to of came empty of people and that’s if the person drove until they passed away. But they left behind a lovely home full of character and warmth. That was great to see the underneath of a thatched roof and that thatch will more than likely have been the original thatch as they only ever top it of/ cover over the old thatch. Thanks once again for a great viewing loved it. 😊 😊😊

It absolutely amazes me that wood workers could carve such art back in the 19th century! I'd love to see the tools they used, the wood they chose, the techniques they learned, the shops they worked in, so much love went into making these fine pieces of furniture. Craftsmen in China used to put out VERY FINE pieces of furniture using exotic wood but mao and the following evil rulers ruined all that. So sad.

according to checks on that car it was m.o.t on September 2017 so looks like it has been sitting empty since then hopefully it stays in that condition and people don't find it and wreck it

Alfa sewing machine started after the second World War in Spain. The pictures are cross stitch, a lot of work went into them

merry xmas The legend is that the glass-bottomed tankard was developed as a way of refusing the King's shilling, i.e., conscription into the British Army or Navy. The drinker could see the coin in the bottom of the glass and refuse the drink, thereby avoiding conscription.
