Yet another entertaining flick of a couple of larrikins showing what good times can be had on a day out fossicking. I was getting nervous watching Glen dig near that creek edge, thought the detector was about to drop in, but knew you’d grab the detector before grabbing Glen, hey Ant haha. The high speed dubbing had me in tears especially when Glenn started digging. Great stuff and generosity guys. 👍

First vid of yours I've seen. That lucas headlight might be a smaller driving light or fog light that came out on late 30's to mid 50's English cars. Thanks for another good video. The earlliest mines here in Nova Scotia were in the 1860's. They used basic stamp mills but recovery was poor. One produced 9000 ounces but left 30% of the gold in the tailings piles. The first attempt to catch the fine gold was by using cordoroy cloth mats. A big outfit will likely come in some day and reprocess the piles and you can't bother them because they are still under claim. Tantallizing thought!

There's a chap who worked out a way of getting ultra-fine gold out of tailings and so on, by putting magnets under the sluice and then coating the other side with fine magnetite sand. That then gives you a sluice riffle which catches anything denser than the magnetite but shrugs off the light stuff. To recover the gold, remove the magnets from the back of the plastic sluice and dump the whole mess into a separator. Alternatively, there are a few non-cyanide chemical gold recovery mixtures out there, chief of which is thiosulphate.

When I'm working the goldfields I stick to a diet of Bacon, Beer and Bourbon. It somehow keeps the weight off, that and all the lead shot I dig up every day :)

@Demetri Moutzouris thanks Demetri. As a beginner, best thing to do is hire a detector and see if you like it before spending a lot of money. Best detector is one that you can afford. Research online where are old diggings close to you, good starting place 👍 all the best 👍⛏

We use the DD as it’s our personal preference and we find more gold with it than mono coils. We’ve tried with monos a few times but prefer DDs. The coil comes down to personal preference and if you like using monos that’s great. Good luck in your gold detecting adventure 👍👍

Looks like I'm guilty Glen, sorry about that. I did call you an great old character and it sounds like I'm not too far behind you mate. Really enjoyed this one, could you two go into which detector in your opinion is the best and why in one of your vids. You may have already but I just haven't come across it yet but I am picking up on some tips.

@CaptainBax thanks mate! Well you’ll definitely notice we use GPX5000 in nearly all of our videos these days. I also use the Equinox and Glenn uses the AT Gold when we are on the coins and relics. Great machines. All machines have pros and cons and work better or worse depending on conditions and ground. So many variables and obviously price is a big one!!

@@victoriangoldhunters Cheers Ant, I heard Glen say in one of the Vids. that he didn't like the Minelab and he preferred the Garret AT. So those are used more for detecting for coins I gather but I was wondering why you guys weren't using a GPX 7000 because I would of thought that these places would get pretty flogged in Victoria.

@CaptainBax not sure if Glenn meant that, might have been joking haha. We always use Minelab GPX5000’s on the gold. Glenn used to have a 7000 and sold it and bought a 5000 again as he preferred it over the 7000. Like everything, each to their own. Some people prefer 5000, some 6000, and others 7000. There’s no one best fit all. Depends on many different things. Important part is actually getting out there and giving it a go. That’s what it’s all about. Cheers 👍⛏

​@@victoriangoldhunters Thanks for the reply Ant, I've been watching a lot of vids on the GPX 6000 vs GPX 7000 and I was thinking about getting the SDC 2300 at first as it seemed like a good little detector to start with, but the more I look into them, the more I get confused with it all. No point buying something that is only good on coins when you're looking for gold. The GPX 7000 looks like it penetrates the ground better then anything else on the market and for the price it should beam a rainbow over the target (lol) to tell you that you're on the gold. The GPX 6000 is louder from what I've seen when it finds a target and lighter to carry but I guess it all comes down to how far down and small the target is. Also the frequency has a lot to do with it from what I've studied. Then you have to take into account the terrain you're detecting in. My conclusion is it's not one detector for all terrains by the looks of it. If I was to get serious about detecting and I've always wanted to take a slow trip around Australia, fishing my way around the top end and down the West Coast. If I had the money I would buy the GPX 6000, the GPX 7000 and a coin detector as well to cover all bases. But then you're out of pocket $20,000 before taking into account, fuel and other expenses along the way. Having said all that I thought it would be a great way to supplement the cost of the trip but God forbid if something serious goes wrong with the car along the way, I and many others would be up, you know where, without a paddle.

@CaptainBax that’s exactly right mate, there’s definitely no size fits all (even though some might and try convince you otherwise) and we aren’t in the business of selling detectors. You are spot on and at the end of the day if you are keen then just get what you can afford and give it a go. With the more expensive machines you could try hire first to see if you like it. Good luck on your adventure around Australia that sounds great!! Hopefully the car will be ok and you won’t end up in a creek without a paddle 😉😂👍⛏

I hated my Gold Monster! Just look at a branch and it would make a noise .. give me the pips! Got a Garrett Gold Master 24K and a Nokta Gold Kruzer ...... no Gold as yet but at least the coils are anti shock. Yep win = Ant. Tao, grab some Bitcoin and you'll have a ripper of a 21st when it's time to cash in! Good onya boys!

@Michael Lawrence We always check the dirt. More than one signal means there’s more than one piece. Also, we check dirt going in and out. Plenty of times we have got more than one bit in the same hole. Cheers 👍👍
