@@jimin3573noah is probs one of the worst, he is overacting so much all the time. I don’t say he is bad, but he’s a bit of an over actor. Millie is fine, but I feel like she acts the same way for 4 seasons. For me Sadie, Caleb and Gaten are the best child actors

One of the many great things about this show is that the characters are smart. It’s been years since I’ve watched this season but I can’t remember ever getting frustrated with the stereotypical “it must have been the wind” sort of thing. The characters react very realistically to everything going on.

I remember when a friend of mine told me about a "cool show called Stranger Things, I am sure you will love it". Wow was she right. This is one of my favorite series. Glad to see this channel reacting to it!

I’m only 34 and half drink it my whole life especially for dinner and so has my family and pretty much every other person I’ve ever known. 🤷‍♂️ these two weird.

man i love Stranger Things. you guys seemed to catch some nostalgia despite your youth, but as a kid of the 80s this series was an amazing retrospective in addition to being a really great story. thanks for sharing your reaction, and the editing was both thorough and concise.

Everyone said justice for Barb, but no one said justice for Benny. Benny was so good, and people just forgot about him. #justiceforbenny Also, you mentioned the chemistry between the kids being the best you've ever seen. Clearly you haven't seen Goonies or Stand By Me. Those kids were bonded at the soul and the movies show it. And milk is fucking delicious! I choose to drink it all the time.

season 1 is the goat just perefection all of its amazing but season 1 is truly special

I dont know about the US but in Canada its super common still to drink milk "freely" during supper hahaha

It’s so fun watching people react to the show for the first time and seeing them figuring things like the upside down in real time

I was 12-13 years old when this came out and I started to watch it immediately with my siblings and mom like we used to gather around the TV like I can't stress enough how nostalgic it is to me.

So the milk thing... Back in the 80s, there was a massive ad campaign for milk that cited how good milk was for strong bones, especially in children (calcium, protein). This resulted in an entire generation of children from the 80s to the 90s with parents that would almost literally pour milk down our throats with a funnel. We were expected to have a glass of milk with almost every meal. Look up some milk ads from the 80s and 90s, the usual line is "Milk, it does a body good" followed by the later "Got milk?" There was even a massive movement of celebrities posing with milk moustaches for the campaign.

You're acting as is if the benefits of drinking milk are a myth. We don't advertise drinking milk as much as we did in the 90s, but drinking milk is still normal and good for you..... Just because the soy boys and vegans have been brainwashing the woke mind virus on everyone to spare animals, doesn't mean milk is bad for you

This show has incredible talent plus the characters are actually smart so you really root for them. Each season has a new mystery and the way each character solves a piece of the puzzle is very rewarding to watch.

Your impression of Hopper was very similar to my own when I first started watching Stranger Things. I saw him smoking, and drinking beer before work and really thought he was going to be some dead beat cop, but once he really started getting to work on trying to find Will you realize just how great of an investigator he really is.

Fun facts! The scene in the first season where el is riding on the bike back to the house, you can only see the back of her?Yeah, that was a kid I went to church with, her stunt double. A person my dad used to work with was credited best boy in season two or three for lighting! One of my old gymnastics teachers was friends with Barb's stunt double.

Just to let you know... in the 1980's.. We drank milk. It was very normal.. especially at dinner time! Oh.. and YES.. FREELY!! LMAO

Just FYI - as someone who was the exact age the same year as these kids in in 1983 - extremely accurate as to how the kids talked acted and how parents were etc. And YES - we drank MILK with dinner every night. That was the beverage we all drank all the time. Not soda, not juice or anything like that - MILK. It does a body good.

If it gives nutrients for adults too, how is it not meant for them as well? And who is deciding these things? Mother Nature? Or us as people? If it’s us as people, than the fact that a large portion of adults drink milk and benefit from it proves it’s also MEANT for adults. :)

I love this show so much because I WAS those kids in the 80's and.. aw heck I still am those kids. I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons and other roleplaying games since about 1985.

That's so cool! I must say, i didn't grow up in the 80s, but I would play DND before the show came out and can really relate to these kids.

I think it is the right moment for you to watch this since now you get all the references - E.T., Star Wars, Gremlins, I.T., Goonies etc.

As a kid in the 1970s and 1980s most kids where I was drank milk all the time. In our family of 5 kids we went through 2 gallons a day. I still drink milk every day. Must be a generational thing :)

Theme is one of the best ever, honestly the music from this show in general is just some of the best ever, multiple super iconic songs, Stein and Dixon hit the biggest home run possible, I don’t think it would be possible for them or any other person to improve on the music in the show it’s so perfect

I love this show for the 80's nostalgia. I was born in 81 so it's mostly the mid to late 80's I remember. But we definitely grew up on our bikes exploring the woods and being outside a ton. Something kids are sorely missing these days. I was surprised you both found the idea of kids drinking milk with dinner odd. I just always assumed it was a common practice for kids growing up. Maybe it's a regional thing? I grew up drinking milk with dinner in New Jersey and I assume my wife did too since we've always given our kids milk with their dinner up here in Toronto.

I don't know about you but I was already waiting for this reaction. I love you very much and I love your videos.

I had a few tv series' that i figured i could recommend to you guys, i know odds are you could possibly already of seen some of them so i picked a few of my top favs (altho i have many many more) lol : 9-1-1 , The Originals, Supernatural, the haunting of hill house,& the Haunting of Bly manor, Manifest, once upon a time, parenthood, schitts creek, Criminal Minds, the ghost whisperer, Fringe, medium. Yeah thats a list lol but yeah hopefully you can get to reacting to some of them someday. Highly recommend them

This is either number one or two favorite Netflix shows. I think Trollhunters is my number one favorite, but that's got 3 seasons, plus 3 Below has 2 seasons, and Wizards of Arcadia has one season, and there is one big epic finale movie combing them all. Stranger Things is very close to my heart as one of my top shows. It's very special because i grew up in the 80's.

....watching this, after watching the bewer season....the way it unlocked the door at the beginning makes sooooo much more sense

back where i grew up it looked just like hawkings we even had a quarry like the one they find will in. i always forgot how close to home the first season hits me i had a close friend that when missing in a accident in the river and he was missing for a week before we found him we had search parties looking for him just like this. and its funny because the cops told us kids they didnt want us helping with the search so we didnt listen to them and looked anyway just like wills friends did. i know how they felt i lived through it

GREAT pick for some quality entertainment for all seasons!

What Hopper and his deputy(?) were using at the library to search old clippings wasn't a computer - it was a microfiche reader. Newspapers and whatever other records they wanted to preserve were basically photographed onto these spooled reels of film at greatly reduced sizes...then you'd thread these spools through the microfiche reader which would shine a light through them, projecting the miniature image onto the screen/magnifier so you could read it. Very much analogue, pre-computer technology. (Not that there weren't computers then but they were VERY different and tended to fill small rooms.)

That soundtrack is awesome man. It never gets old.

This became one of my all time favourite shows but i remember not actually enjoying the first season the first time I saw it. I felt that there was almost nothing original to the plot and that I kept expecting a twist or something to make the story more meaningful and interesting. By the last episode of the season, there aren’t really any suprises and nothing is different from what you were predicting in episode 1. Monster from other dimension, conspiracy from government agency experimenting on kids with psychic powers. Who hadn’t seen all this before? I thought there would be more layers. That said, once I adjusted my expectations I realised the point of the series wasn’t the plot, it was the characters and aesthetics. Man you fall in love with the characters.

Bringing over a casserole to the family that’s having some kind of trouble (e.g. someone in the hospital, which would be more common than a missing child) may be more of a Midwest thing than a particularly eighties thing. I had a coworker from Indiana some years ago who talked about that, as casseroles were her standard contribution to office potlucks.
