We Explored The Forgotten Side Of Ashford In Kent, England

We went to Ashford to explore the forgotten side of this historic Kent town as well as some of the more modern sights.
Our adventure begins at Ashford Designer Outlet where we grab a coffee from Caffe Nero before taking a walk along the River Stour where we found some amazing street art. The walk leads us to a park, at the edge of which is an old abandoned flour mill.
Heading in to the town centre we stumble across some picturesque lanes lined with quirky houses and features. We pass by the old grammar school and witness the bells ringing from a beautiful church before stumbling across an iconic red phone box.
Our next stop is Ashford Memorial Gardens, a beautifully landscaped green space featuring a planted spitfire & Ashford borough crest as well as many other beautifully planted areas. Heading back towards our starting point we can't resist popping in to the International Station for a glimpse at the Disneyland Paris signs and bringing a delightful evening in Ashford to a close.

⭐ More About Us ⭐
We're Jason & Josh, welcome to our World. We upload brand new vlogs every day so whatever we get up to you are right there with us.
We love to travel so we are always on days out, road trips around England or exploring our home county of Kent & hopefully one day soon, back on a plane to far away places. We also love a bit of Disney round here so you will often see a bit of the magic sprinkled in to our day.
Whilst we are nearly always on an adventure & living life at a fast pace, we do occasionally take some time to chill and invite you in to our home with Josh's mum Fiona and our 9 cats for an insight in to our daily life.

The best side of Ashford are the roads out to the villages, the North Down above Wye or West Well are simply stunning. The town, well the less said about that.

Trust me there is not that much of old Ashford left. Most has been pulled down to make way for blocks of flats. The town is dead and the council squeezed the life out of any nightlife. And its awful trying to drive around unless you like looking at red traffic lights!

Nice to watch a positive video on Ashford. The town centre needs more TLC from the council for sure, but it has its nice spots, some of which you have found. Ashford is not a Medway town as one comment suggests - it's a Stour town - but you knew that! BTW I've videoed the cycle route of which you walked a section through the 'Duck' tunnel (River Stour by Bike).

  • @JJExtra

It's very easy to see the worst in places so we always try to look for the positives which most if not all places have and Ashford definitely does. Some TLC needed as you say but hopefully that will come in time. Thank you for watching!

I'm sure you found out by now but the Flour Mill was recently a nightclub but I belive it closed down and Sir Norton Knatchbull has a school named after him on Hythe Road called The Norton Knatchbull. Anyways, you mentioned free coffee, I'm off to the outlet to find it... 😂

JC S 10 minutes ago (edited) Medway towns work in only 2 ways: The are the 'well kept and orderly towns and then there are the ones that are unfortunately 'infested' with the scum that drags the towns down for those the majority want to live in the 'former'. Ashford is one of the latter. Yes there is lots of developers building to sell to foreign investors (who have not got a 'clue' where Ashford actually is!) who will just rent them out to student city and cash-in after a couple of years rent. The 'non-existent high street and vacant shopping centre has been replaced with upteen kebab and barber shops and nothing else. Such a shame that the town is not up there with some of it's better inhabited neighbouring medway towns. Time for a clean-up Ashford Council!. Developers are only developing in this town for rental sales, nothing else (although the councils 'rare' advertising campaigns will try to tell you different. (with its misplaced 'designer centre' and it's 'so-called' international station - which people only use to pass through Ashford to get to Europe!...ironic such an exspensive opportunity was missed!. As you will see in this video, the place is a boarded-up, non-discriptive ghost town!.
