We Escaped to a Volcanic Island in Nicaragua where Time Stands Still!
We travel to our favourite place in the entire country and possibly the world, Ometepe Island in the middle of Lake Nicaragua. A place where we could live and never leave. Time feels like it stands still in this peaceful, tropical paradise.

Everything is great here in San Ramon. That 180 day visa extension that CR just implemented is a game changer. But I'm really looking forward to getting back up there soon and hopefully bring Madison to play with Teddy. He's so cute! And hearing him say "hola" made me smile from ear to ear 😊

Rivas is actually really cool. Very underrated place to live. The truck's great, but needed some work to get it up to speed. Tree Casa (house) is really busy now it's high season but we have been from time to time!

Hola lindo tu video y tu familia Dios te bendiga
Ometepe is a very special place indeed... Excellent vid, BTW 💯👌🏻 your approach to Ometepe was chill and interesting... I'm sure you're aware of the yoga community, party scene, etc. I admire your restraint at the market... I would've been the one buying everything 🤣😂 Awesome to see you've got local friends 💯🇳🇮 as it's become a thing where expats isolate themselves (cough, SJDS, cough). Feliz Navidad entre Lagos y Volcanes 🌋🌴🇳🇮✌🏻😎

It's a very special place. We would love to live there one day. It's a magical place 😄. There is a community for everyone there. Haha we did buy quite a few things at the market, something from almost every stall 😂. Perhaps we didn't film it all though. Yes that's right its easy to fall into the expat bubble! Merry Christmas!

Such a wonderful, informative and lovely video of Ometepe Island. My dad's side of the family is from there so I grew up travelling many times to Ometepe and it never ceases to amaze me. It is truly a magical, special island and really close to my heart. Btw, you guys speak a perfect español!

Just wondering... how much does it cost to take the ferry? Where or how could I register to rent a room on the island? Any available tuc-tucs? Thinking of hitchhiking there... P.S. Have you met the American who collects all kinds of garbage made of plastic and turns it into gaz? Thank you!
@travellingroots

Hey! It costs 50 cordoba ($1.37) per person each way for the Ferry on foot and if you take a car it's an additional 425 cordoba ($11.61) each way. There's also a port entry tax of about $1 per person. Kids are all free There are a tonne of tuc tucs on the island and you can rent then per journey or even hire them for $40 for the whole day to take you where you need to go. Best place to book on the island is booking.com. We haven't met him actually!
