The first time I watched this I was a little confused by Geoff’s wardrobe change. Then I realized he was Camilo the Shapeshifter and he was shifting into Bruno then Isabella and then back into Bruno. This is such a fun production. You can’t tell because he is seated, but Geoff is wearing pink shorts that match Ashley‘s since he’s playing a female lead there. Also the portion with the rose petals had to be filmed with everything going double speed so that when they slowed it down for the video the rose petals would be floating by rather than just blasting into their faces which is what really was happening🌸(To get the petals to move fast enough so they didn’t drop to the ground and also to get Ashley’s hair to flow like that they actually had to use not only a fan but a leaf blower!) But even with thise pink shorts, Cesar and Layne stole the show. Between Cesar’s facial expressions and reactions, and Layne not only beatboxing but rapping Dolores‘s lines and providing the bass line when Geoff was busy, they were a powerhouse.

I enjoy watching you, I'm from a very non-musical background, and you have really helped me learn. Geoff is the gateway drug to Voiceplay, but as you watch more videos it is amazing how much heavy lifting Eli does. He can go anywhere they need, changing 'voices' mid line.

the way layne manages to straight up beatbox the phrase "we don't talk about bruno" at the end gets me every time.

I've watched this video a few times now, and I suddenly realized something! I'm thinking that Layne at least partly set Geoff up with the princess moment just so he could give him that look.

Having seen the original VP video about 320 times, I was waiting in anticipation for your reaction to each of the fun parts - Layne’s Dolores rap (ch-ch-ch), Eli ‘losing’ his hair, Geoff’s floral outfit change, the rat/scream, and LAYNE’S ENDING (which I still can’t get over and must replay at least once or twice each time I listen to the song!) Your reactions were just like mine when I first heard it! Soooo funny! Didn’t they just nail this song?! 👏👏👏👏

I got crazy with that last high note from Ashley and that last "we don't talk about Bruno" part when I first watched this.

I have watched the original Voiceplay video SO many times, but I think this is the FIRST time that I've noticed Layne's face in reaction to Geoff singing the second half of Isabella's part!! I am actually cackling! Edited to add: I have been bingeing your Voiceplay reactions, and I am really really enjoying watching them break your brain every few bars. They are very good at it and do the same thing to me every time!

What a wonderful reaction! Would you believe I watched this several dozen times (I’m not exaggerating) before I realized the mouse was a toy? I was so focused on their faces and the singing and the byplay and who was doing what that i really didn’t look at it-but I commented SEVERAL times about how Geoff’s scream probably traumatized it! LOL. So many wonderful things happening it’s like trying to zero in on one piece of popcorn when the whole bowl is exploding. Layne really managed to bring out the genius in everyone here, and that’s the mark of a great composer/arranger.

I loved your reaction! Best one I have seen so far for this voiceplay cover! There are two songs from Voiceplay that I would love to see your reaction/analysis of: The first is "If I were a rich man/girl" - It was the first video that voiceplay did with Ashley Diane. The second is "We're Good" - It was the first song they did with Cesar before he was an official member of the group, plus it has Adriana Arellano who is fantastic as well. Either way, please keep the voiceplay reactions coming!

I agree there. My first choice for a female 5th would be Rachel, but since it's unlikely because she has other commitments, Ashley would be my second choice. I really think they should have a female 5th singer rather than an all male line up.

Voiceplay never disappoints! Such great Latin feel and rhythms. Best vocal group ever?

VoicePlay owns Disney covers. So, so good! I love to see their playful side. The BTS is absolutely hilarious. Geoff said that Cesar was really feeling this one and it shows. I just get more and more impressed with him. Ashley was the perfect guest. You're going to love Geoff's new solo that hit Patreon yesterday.

I saw on another reaction that apparently Geoff did not want to do that costume change at first, but Ashley talked him into it. And I am so thankful for it, cause it was so hilarious and on point. Also makes Ashley's expression at that point even more funny than it was to start with.

I was waiting for your reaction. I had a feeling it would mirror mine. Such joy in this arrangement.

Finally grabbed a few minutes to watch this. Told you that you would love it! I’ve watched the original dozens of times and was pretty confident you would mention Caesar’s ascending riff on “betrothed”. That was just extra special. Geoff, well, he’s Geoff! Ashley was perfect for her part. I always pay close attention to Eli and how he hits those high notes. I hear it. ;) Layne, geez. His “sand” sounds! But that ending. I listen to just the end at least once more each time. That’s just crazy. Do comments really help boost the KZread algorithm? I shall try to remember that. :)

I think you would really enjoy their cover of Dragon Born Comes. It has imo the best harmonies they’ve displayed so far. Omar, who they feature, has an angelic voice that’s amazing to hear

@@Tryst46 I’m not sure 🤔 there was a beatbox section in “Just Sing” that involved a couple of other people, if that’s the one you’re thinking of?

If you are serious about wanting to sing with them, now is the time to pursue it. They haven't replaced Earl yet, and you could probably handle that pitch range (though I don't know if you can do all the character voices he did). Send them a demo recording. The worst they can do is not write back.

Then you could pick the one's you like best and edit it up...

I really enjoyed your reaction and analysis. If you liked Ashley Diane with Voiceplay, you should definitely give their cover of If I Were A Rich Man/Girl a reaction. Not only was she great (first time I ever heard her perform), but it was also Cesar's debut as a full-time member of the group. It is a stellar cover, as is pretty much everything they do. It was also just a ton of fun and lots for you to react to and analyze.

So fun reaction again! Someone must have already mentioned it, but you missed all these beautiful bass lines from 13:23 to 13:40 :D

You need to see some of the beat box competition and see just how amazing these artists are.

Or Pentatonix (too commercial for me)... and of course.. the stand out .. AVI. Avi is a bard both in voice and style.. he somehow gets to the soul of a person JUST with his voice... really a gift.

I'm guessing that in the year since you posted this reaction, you've listened to the song many scores of times, like the rest of us. I wonder if you noticed that Cesar doesn't sing that he grew a "gut"; he says "belly." Also, if I'm not mistaken, in that final bit from Layne, the name Bruno is inhaled. Genius.

What I've seen of Voiceplay with female vocalist collaborations... Ashley comes in for her amazing runs... They also bring in Rachel Porter if they want a power belter type of female vocalist. So good either way.

The only thing I’d disagree with is that I HATE how drops the octave on “gut.” With both of the other singers going up on the end of their stanzas, it just doesn’t fit right for me
