why is it called a choir? I thought it would be called a band?

hi! it’s called a choir because the group of instruments is specific. so this would be called a flute choir. there are also clarinet choirs, brass choirs, woodwind choirs, etc., because they’re all smaller groups of specific instruments. a band would be considered a group consisting of all kids of instruments (flutes, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, tubas, etc.) hope this was helpful 🫶🏽🫶🏽
