WE DID IT! REACHING SSL + BONUS GAME WITH MECHANICS | 1v1 Road to SSL w/o Mechanics With Flakes #22

Ойындар

START SERIES FROM THE BEGINNING: • Play Smart & Rank Up E...
Flakes plays WITH mechanics to show why they are essential in the final episode (part 22) of Flakes' 1v1 Road To SSL without mechanics. Learn how to play 1v1 in Rocket League the right way. A series where I grind to the highest rank in Rocket League (Supersonic Legend) while relying as little as possible on mechanics to show the importance of game sense/efficiency. It should be noted though, that I will be able to utilize more mechanics the higher rank we get, this is because if I just do nothing we of course won't win in the highest ranks! I will do my best to make it hard and a challenge for myself though and will keep my mechanics LOWER than the basic mechanics of that rank. So we're not gonna air dribble, we're not gonna ceiling shot, we're not gonna flip reset etc. BUT we WILL for example be able to do simple dribbles in champ or higher. I will try to keep it as simple and easy so that you guys can hopefully use the strategies and easily rank up yourself! Thanks for watching and any feedback is always greatly appreciated!

I find that I don't really rely on fancy mechanics but defending, car control (simply driving, air, maintain speed) and recoveries, which are also mechanics. If I work on shot consistency and basic dribbles, I could finally get GC1 from C3, GC2 if I practice and play a lot and make good progress during holidays

I'm learning both side air rolls and getting pretty good at managing my lateral direction with tornado spinning but am stuck in C1. Here comes Flakes, sending "not that good of a shot"s, getting to SSL by "not committing to it". Dammit. But really, this is great to watch to get smarter at RL. Mechanical players are interesting to watch but harder to copy. This is very educational. It dives into the concept that Lethamyr was explaining as green vs red, but it made little sense on its own. With your gameplay it really teaches what's good and what's bad.

I would also be extremely interested in seeing this. Leth has some great series where he does a similar thing with 2's and 3's trying to imitate the level but the serious focus on not using mechanics would be super refreshing. I usually hover between plat 3 - diamond 1 and I'm usually too afraid to be patient with the play because it freaks my teammates out and they usually just go out of position and steal possession anyway. I'm still not great at the slow play stuff so I can understand the lack of confidence from them being a factor, very interested to see how you deal with it though, assuming you'd play with randoms vs another pro who's playing in your style. Either would make for great content though.

What i understand as the essence of what flakes is trying to teach: Its hard to goal when the opponent has the chance to defend. So all you are trying to do is: 1. Keep your own goal covered at all times 2. play with the ball until your opponent loses his ability to cover. Ball possesion gives you the best chances at both, so thats why you want to keep the ball and not try something risky, EVEN if that means the ball goes to your side of the court.

Honestly when I started watching this series I was just getting champ in 1s for the first time. 1s takes a lot of energy for me to play and tilts me so I don't play it often but throughout this series I've managed to get to C3 in 1s with relative ease and minimal grinding just from the changes in mindset and game sense. I've always been "mechanical-ish" so I didn't use powerslide cuts or play quite as patiently as flakes does but I've definitely adopted a lot of elements of the playstyle and it's so useful. Thanks for the series and I'll definitely be watching the 2v2 one when it's ready.

As someone who has been pushing for SSL in 1s but not able to make the leap these videos are incredibly helpful. I'd say i've got higher than average mechanics for the rank but often get outplayed in more grounded scenarios where those mechanics mean nothing. The drive challenge concept is something that I've never really utilised but after playing a few games and getting back into mid GC3 I genuinely can't believe how effective they are. I always seemed to conceede possesion or even goals from diving into 50s that were at best a coin flip. Always tilted me because it just felt unlucky whenever I conceeded but after watching this I realise that these rash dive 50s/challenges are too high risk and completely unnecessary. Would love it if you did another one of these for 1v1s at some point. Thanks for the tips :)

The biggest takeaway from this series, is not that you don't need mechanics........ it's that you need to train train train your fine motor control on the fundamentals, then grind the crap outta games to cement decision making. 99 times out of 100 you get scored on because YOU put YOURSELF in a bad position. The biggest lesson I got from this series, is that you have to allow your opponent to put themselves in such positions.... then take full advantage of it. I have just shy of 8000 hours in this game...... with a LOT of bad habits picked up along the way. This series is just what I needed for a reboot. Cheers Flakes!

You finally did it, wow! I enjoyed this series very much, I’m a forever gold but I think I could definitely get all the way up to gold 3 with this strategy haha. For real though, super helpful & demonstrative, thank you!

This series has made my RL experience way better as I play 1s a lot more than I use to and I notice how much of a better teammate I am now. D2 to C2. Incredible knowledge there is to learn from this series. Thank you.

This was the best series ever, from the first episode to now, I went from gold 2 to plat 3 in 1s, and I’ve destroyed a few diamonds I’ve come across. I’m still going strong, thank you so much you’re the GOAT

I learned a lot from this series and boosted up ranks! It's funny when people are calling me a Smurf when I only have maybe 250 hrs in the game and slowly getting to champ! I was the biggest boost over ball, ball chasing player but now I slowed my game down, practiced my cuts every day and I watch these diamond players trying to swag shot and they still get faked by a simple turn in field. Thank you flakes!
