This was definitely one of the best waves for Star Wars. With the play features, builds, and minifigures it was a great year for sets.

The LEGO sets kids can play with AND adults can display are the best easily.

People say Lego peeked in the 2000's, but we all know it was 2012 or 2015 if you want to be generous.....There are still good Lego sets but back in the day, it was a different vibe

I think 2014 was also probably one of the best years in my opinion and it was one of the last years to really have a lot of ROTS sets. Also I love your videos, keep up the great content.

I got this for Christmas as a kid it was so cool. Also got the little green Jedi star fighter you mentioned too. So much more bang for the buck back then, in both ways. Brings back great memories!

I still remember 2012, I was starting first grade in the fall (😭), and I saw the commercial for this set on the TV at a friend’s house. I really wanted it so badly but unfortunately although my parents knew I loved Lego sets, I don’t think they believed in spending $120 for a set. Nowadays it’s too expensive for me still so although I’ll never own the set, at least videos like this exist

Technically, the Malevolence is 4 times as long as the Invisible Hand. Still both look great on display together!

So glad you reviewed this! I was able to get one a couple of years ago and I agree it’s really slept on! Fun build too!

IMO the flick fire missiles of the republic attack shuttle were the best implementation. They were actually fully automatic and you could easily remove them from the build, if you only wanted to display it.

I personally never forgot about The Malevolence, it's sort of my white whale set. I've always loved the Separatist ships like The Invisible Hand so so so much, so the idea of having The Malevolence basically offered me that piece of the Separatist navy that desperately wanted.

I still have this set from when my parents got it for me as a kid. Still one of my favorite sets and would love to see them make it again someday

I love that set, I have it. I modded the interior, took the technic frame out and brick built a bathroom and small bedroom. Really cool set!!

I never forgot the set i saw it in a magazine when i was younger i have been obsessed with it ever since, its one of my sets that got away.

Oh my god dude, this brings back so many memories, I just moved to the States in 2012 & that's when I first actually got to play with a Lego Star Wars set. I played with my friends A LOT back then, thanks for the video dude!

This was my first big lego set I got for my 8th birthday in 2012. Was so excited to get it and stayed up late building it haha.

The set is really cool, and this makes me want better play features in newer sets.

It's when you look back at years like this, you realise how poorly treated lego fans have been recently

That is a pretty good looking ship. They made some smart choices with adding the detailing. It is ofcourse completely out of scale with the Figs, but that is simply not possible with larger ships. Thanks for showing the thing off.

Thank you SO much for comparing the two ships. As soon as I remembered that the Malevolence set existed I immediately wondered how it would look paired up with the Invisible Hand. Awesome!

​@brickmasterharri The scales are so far off it isn't even funny. The Invisible Hand is 1,088 meters long, while the Malevolence is 4,845 meters long. If you wanted to use the Invisible Hand (Providence Cruiser) as the larger Providence Dreadnought, then the scales would work pretty good, but they don't work if you're using it as the Invisible Hand.

Huge amount of nostalgia for those sets. I bought the Jedi star fighter back in the day.

This is still my favourite lego set that I own and my favourite of all time, I saw the commercial for it when I was at my aunties cos we didn't have cable back then and I begged my dad for it, and I got it for Christmas that year, and it still sits on a shelf above my bed 12 years later

Holy shit, they added micro scale transportation trains??? That really sells it for me

Does LEGO need to go back to their roots? Are they getting too caught up in their 18+ lines that they're forgetting the charm of these older sets? Also, keep making AMAZING content! This is truly inspiring to me as a smaller content creator. Your silky smooth voice has spurned me to future creation, and I aspire to reach amazing heights that I could only dream of reaching!

Man, I’ve wanted this set for a while. The dark blue and gray on these separatist sets makes me love the seperatists. Unfortunately I’m relatively young for a Lego collector, so I missed out on some golden sets, and now they’re worth a fortune. I also wanted to say I love your channel, and the vibes with it. Although you’re not as big as some other great Lego channels, I’d say you’re better than them, thanks for the awesome video😊

One thing I used to do was put it under a black light and admire the glow from the neon bricks

I feel like the glossy box makes it feel more “oooh shiny” rather then premium

this set was my favorite every year it was on sale i would ask for it and 5 years later they found one online for $400 and got it and to me it was Werth it to this day fun play features great build and amazing set love to see a mini scale version of it or a bigger one

It's a AMAZING and very underrated set!

I owned the set and I always forget about it, lol. I mean it’s a great set though. Going down my list of sets to rebuild it just so happens I’m gathering all my pieces to rebuild this set this week, so it’s a bit of a coincidence that I got this in my recommendations.

1:05 - Lego is a premium product, prices are quite high (althrough not for every sets, as sometimes in 80's and 90's for similar sets prices were higher - look pirate ships).

i sat in the san diego lego land store for half and hour trying to decide between the malevolence and jabba's palace. i eventually picked jabba's palace, but im still not sure if it was the right choice

Imagine if we got an Invisble Hand or Droid Control Ship in the style of the 2012 Malevolence. They could give us plenty of figures, detail and functions.

2011-2015 r some years I wish I was in the hobby for. I actually got the 2011 clone bp but that was the last set I got before going into my second dark age. Oh well. I'm back for good now and I can get those older sets as I find em for cheap

clone wars anakin was my first ever minifig, for my 8th birthday my parents spent about £11 on lego star wars for me, im so grateful, especially considering the sets i got, anakins jedi fighter, the legendary clone walker battle pack, assasain droids battle pack, republic attack shuttle and tyhe AAT (big seppy one)

We need more CIS ships. A munificent, recusant, lucrehulk, C-9979, hardcell rocketship, a playscale providence(along with a playscale venator reboot would make an amazing pairing, maybe having the two of them compliment each other somehow?), and finally something like a droid fighter 2-pack with a tri-fighter and vulture droid. So much potential, but Lego is like "nah, let's make more clone and empire stuff - gotta fill out our customers' gray baseplates." Would love a battledroid redesign somewhere down the line that gives them a little more articulation; I have a soft spot for the lego B1's.

The sizes you say at 7:35 being "surprisingly pretty close to in universe" is completely wrong. The Malevolence is 4,845 meters long while the providence destroyer is only 1,088 meters long! Also a Venator Star Destroyer is about 1,137 meters long, JFYI.

I do have to say that some providence-class vessels were longer, measuring about 2,177 meters but then we're talking about the providence dreadnought!

They could rerelease this today and just update the figures, and I would be perfectly happy with it.

This is definitely one of the most underrated and forgotten LEGO Star Wars sets. It's such a banger though. One of my favorite sets I own.

I have this set. My brother snuck into my room and took it outside to play with shortly after I had built it and he cracked the whole thing in half like the titanic. Lost some pieces and only recently rebuild it. Some of those republic red pieces have cracks and I can't find Grievous but otherwise she's sitting pretty on my shelf

i bought the malevolence a couple years ago used and complete, under $100USD. that was a steal.

its such a cool set! very underrated sadly

The Malevolence has always met so much to me. In January I bought a new one sealed and I felt 10 putting it together again 🫡 it’s also a great model on my shelf

my friend has this set and he changed it so it had security droids with one commander droid and 5 commando droids

I had a blue version of that green ship, but i can't remember for the life of me what it was called

I could have sworn the canon on my malevolence auto rotated after shooting, mine is so worn tho i can’t tell if it still does that

"This set is completely slept on within the LEGO community" The LEGO star wars community doesn't see anything 5 feet past their face

Last star wars set i got was in the yoda wave because that's when star wars felt good to me and now it's to over done everything has to be 1-1 perfection. Infact the only star wars set I'd consider getting these days would be the Republic fighter tank other than that it's not for me. I however do have the clone wars dooku and the movie trilogy one as well with i believe the last clone wars yoda Minifigure if that counts for anything.

The best decision I ever made was in 2019 buying this set, the turbo tank (2010), and the frigate all for $320 in a bundle. Right before clone wars resurgence

Their scale doesn't match as well as you claim. The Malevolence is just shy of 5x the size (at least in length) of the Invisible Hand.

We 100% need a new Dooku set. Even if it's a battlepack next year.

they buy for cheaper than it's worth so they can sell it at what its worth or a little higher (depending on what customers will pay) so they can make a profit and stay in business

Now i want to see a UCS version of the malevolence.

2012 was a great year suprisingly the only 2012 set I have in the jabbas palace I remember seeing the gungan sub and melevolence in toys R us wish I got them but I got a lot of sets at the time and I’m happy with what I got like the 2013 gunship and the 2009 arc 170
