Ah finally tried Durian. Duri actually means spikes in Malay/Indonesian. Asians mostly love it. Even my dog (now gone) could not resist and would do anything for a bite.

Thoroughly enjoyed this series and thanks for bringing us along. One question though - What part of this trip was bike packing? In my day this was called credit card touring, which was/is my favorite type of touring.

It shows that you can do it on any bike. Decathlon bike was awesome- I use the shop a lot and will do even more now 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

Yeah been riding my triban rc100 through all sort of shit the past 4-5 years and only washed it 2 times sofar hahaha

try la roche posay 50+ .. boots sell it.. drys in well and never has issues. i have psoriasis and it's the only one that doesnt sting, burn, anything on me. been using it in mallorca .. So far so good.

Has been great following you all. Laughed at Francis' reaction to durian, our Vietnamese cycle tour host was similarly disappointed I was the same. I think having a poor sense of smell sometimes has its advantages, and liked the taste.

You guys rode through Woodlands Road and Bukit Timah Road, which runs parallel to an old rail line which is now actually a gravel track along the northern half. Missed opportunity to do some gravel grinding and get out of the crazy traffic.

I should imagine with all your travels you've eaten some odd things. Well done on completing the trip been a good series.

Durian's one of those fruits where there's a reason why there's a bunch of different prices. You can get all sorts of different flavors and textures. The first time I tried it, I was like, nah, not for me. Didn't try it again for a while. When I tried again, had a different kind, and loved it. Now it's my favorite fruit. Love the scent and the taste.

Still gutted I couldn’t make it down to meet you! Loved the series!

Durian is delicious, the real test is can you eat stinky tofu. When I first came to China I always wondered why all the street markets smelt like open sewers. Now it's one of my favourite street foods

Its because the sewers are open because you cant scoop out oil for cooking if not :D

I've been working in Singapore for 17 years and still I can't stomach to eat Durian 😅. Though my Mom loves it in the Philippines

I tried durian, I lost my breath, I hated it, or so I thought, I couldn’t stop eating eat even though I didn’t “like” it. To this day I would eat at the drop of a hat. Durian milkshakes are incredible.

Looks like I had durian somewhere in that area, too. But it was freshly opened, though. Anyway, it usually smells worse than tastes, and fresh ones are ok. By the way, I've tried my first durian somewhere on a market in Vietnam, and it wasn't smelly and didn't have funny taste AT ALL. And I was like "Why is durian so notorious, huh?"

China gets its Durian mainly from Thailand. Thai pluck the durians before they are ripe in order to ship long distance. Ethylene gas is then used to ripen the fruits (like banana). Malaysian durians fall to the ground naturally when fully ripen. The taste is very different. Singaporeans and Malaysians will never touch Thai durians.

Durian is Delicious. It smells Rank , but is Sweet and Pudding like.
