YES MIKE. He is clearly a very talented cook but I feel like sometimes he counts himself out before he even starts, so it was lovely to watch him succeed and win this!

Mike totally earned this one...but the guys searching for the hidden chef absolutely killed me 💀💀💀😂😂😂
Mike made a mid week meal into something chef-inspired. Making that in 30 minutes, off the cuff, was brilliant!
Mike's moment of ingenuity reminds me of when he created the Ramen Burger for a staff meal. Great out of the box thinking!
Mike started doing a Jamie with big bold ideas, plated like Barry and pulled his gamble off with just a little huttlestorm. Great work Mike!!

This was one of the best sorted videos of the last six months in my opinion. Three amazing plates of food cooked totally by the normals without any gimmicks or chefy interference. It brings me back to the very beginning of Chef Skills in 2021. Such a joy to see all three normals find something creative and delicious in Ben’s ingredients, and so cool to see how a chef’s fridge doesn’t always need to be that different from a normals.

Agreed! Not only did they not have any planning, but their ingredients were completely random and they still all made a banger of a dish.
Mike doubts himself so often, but this is the kind of dish we all know he’s capable of. Glad to see him clinch the win!
Of the 3 normals Mike has internalized his years of sorted the best. He has the knowledge. He has the ability. He's just not there in the confidence department. He self sabotages himself so often by getting into his own head. It's wonderful to see him just bring out his A game. Mike your amazing man.

I agree totally. Mike has always been my “favourite” (altho I love all the guys) as I feel he is the one that shows he cares the most about the actual food. All of them bring different things to the team of course. It hurts my heart when he is mean about himself!
Now this is the Mike I know he can be. Honestly it really was the teamwork that knocked them apart last time. Mike's dish was just a showing of proper skill and creativity.

@@SortedFood ha...ha..ha. But seriously, he did a wonderful job.
So, first off, Barry's face at Mike when he said he's done so badly this past year (5:25) epitomizes what I think we all saw thos episode; Mike needs confidence in his cooking because, yes, he has a distance to go and has Huddlestorms but when he steps outside of his box it can really soar. The Duck Ramen Burger comes to mind.

*from a REAL normals fridge. Our boys are tainted by chef influences I'm sure. Show me a fridge with with kids sodas instead of wine, mixed fruit-yogurt cups instead of sour cream, a "seasonal" deli ambrosia fruit salad, Kraft singles, bologna, and half a 5lb bag of shredded medium cheddar, 2 bottles of picante sauce, 1 mild, 1 chunky mild, half a head of iceberg lettuce, and some leftover 3bean salad that only mom eats and no one else will touch.

idk if it's just me but Ben always seems to try and encourage Mike in a different way than he does Jamie and Barry. it's so lovely to see. also Mike quite often comes up with some pretty good ideas, really happy for him here. it looked delicious
The look Ben did when he heard Mike's idea for the battle was hilarious
The _rage_ happening behind Ben when he was eating Mike's dish gave me flashbacks to the original chicken battle when the pasty was raw Well-deserved win for Mike there - loved the cheffy jzooje of the artichoke puree, so beautifully plated, and that melty cheese was perfect
7:15 Ben calmly explaining even after Barry's shock while uncorking the bottle was like the time when he slyly egged on James to try wine on the retro soda stream. Well done, boys! Three strong dishes! I kinda want a redemption episode on Kush's fridge.
MIKE REDEMPTION ERA!!!! i feel like he's so often taken down by the pressure and time crunch rather than lack of skill or creativity so i'm really pleased for him getting the win in this one! great looking dishes from all three normals though, they all looked so tasty

Strong showing from everyone! Mike's, "hold off on being impressed; we haven't tasted it yet." absolutely killed me.
So happy for Mike, his dish was clearly the standout from this battle and it's awesome to see how much he and the other two normals have improved.
Mike's meal not only sounds the most tasty it also looks cheffy.
Way to go Mike. What a brilliant plate of food that any top notch chef would be proud to serve, even down to the beautiful cheffy plating. Well done. Berry's use of one baking sheet to roast kale, garlic and steam fish all at the same time is a wonderful tip for any home cook. Jay's dish, I'm sure was very tasty seems like the typical weeknight meal that would be eagerly devoured and well received by all.
I always feel like Mike is the underdog in these challenges, so to see him completely SMASH this cook was so rewarding and well-earned!!! Well done Mike!

You know it 😏
Found your channel about a week ago and it's making me feel like cooking healthy for myself is more and more possible. I have what is essentially autistic ARFID, so it's always so difficult to meal plan... Especially with a too-small refrigerator/freezer and tiny kitchen & oven, no car, and a grocery trip taking eons! Come Spring I'm going to try using your app for meal making and see how it goes! That aside, I would love to see you guys re-visit Brasilian food! The feijoada, beijiños de coco, brigadeiros, pastel de carne (fried) and pastel de frango (baked), using faroffa seasoning! The tuna/pea/corn/white sauce pizzas, burgers with fresh local corn & peas on them as well... So delicious! Also, a place some of you might like to visit one day when it's safer - southern Brasil. I lived in the state of Paraná (near Foz do Iguaçu in the mid-2000s), and with its close proximity to both Argentina & Paraguay, and large population of European descent (particularly German), made the food there just spectacular. So many dishes my uncultured Canadian butt was familiar with, just with a delightful twist. Not sure how it compares to N. Brasilian cuisine, but it was insanely good. I grew up with local strawberry trucks, but Medianeira had a pineapple guy who'd knock on your car window with a pineapple in one hand and a machete in the other, big earnest smile on his face as he offered a taste of his latest batch. I never liked pineapple before I tried it there lol was an amazing experience

I'm also neurodivergent and Sidekick was an absolute game changer for me. I started with the recipes that took the shortest amount of time and worked my way up. It's really heartening when I look back over the week and realise I've done those simple acts of self care.
The look on Berry's face as he eats Mike's is the best thing about this video.
This is why I love Mike. He's either a ton of fun to watch when things go wrong OR he pulls out something like this...or a duck ramen burger... Or a choux batter... 100 layer lasagna... Dude can absolutely crush it
Heck yes Mike such a stellar dish! You are deserving of a badge for this (impress the chef badge). Keep riding this high man we want to see you create even more dishes like this.
What I have learned today is that Mike really ought to just toss caution and go all in because when he does, his technical ability in the kitchen, and general understanding of how to make something work, is really quite proficient. Loved seeing this.
Baz looked like he wanted to chew nails over how good Mike's dish was. So hilariously salty! 🤣
I love how Ben and the rest of the food team behind the camera cheered Mike’s finished dish on. That’s what friends are supposed to do. Well done Mike!!
This was great! Same ingredients so you see their personalities and end with 3 different meals with no similarities!! ❤
I feel like Mike has internalised his own self-depricating humor too much. Throughout the challenge he was acting as if things were in absolute chaos, but from the outside looking in, he looked completely in control. So satisfying to see that end result. As an aside it's really funny that you still went with Mike holding his food doing a "Oh no?!" face, despite the fact that the food he's holding looks restaurant grade.
Mike's dish looks absolutely phenomenal. It makes me want to get up and get in the kitchen even with my lack of self-confidence.
They all looked great, but Mike's looked so professional! If I ordered that in a fancy restaurant, that's exactly how I would expect the plate to look. Absolutely nailed it, well done!
So nice to see Mike finally come out ahead again. I feel like 2022 was such a Huttlestorm year and I feel like Mike really deserved this win. I'm even more amazed that all 3 of the guys put out outstanding plates. All 3 of these looked like they were made by a chef in a chef vs normals grocery challenge. Speaking of... We need a chef vs normals with the ingredients from a chef's fridge and another one with ingredients from a normal's fridge.
Mike channeled his inner chef powers there. Once more proving he doesn’t need to do himself down, he did good, very good!
I comment on KZread videos really rarely but this deserves a full message of appreciation. Really well done Mike and everyone else, I think this was truly the best straightforward cooking battle you guys have put together in ages!
in love w ben's little "oh it's time to BeReal". slayed
I’m so proud of Mike. All those dishes looked fantastic but he pulled off some magic there
I think what really helped Mike here is that instead of having his usual Huttlestorm, he didn't panic and instead really focused on his idea despite his doubts. Which is what I've always loved seeing especially during Pass It Ons. It's always why I've enjoyed seeing Mike go first on those because he doesn't panic from fear of ruining the dish when there isn't a dish yet. He thrived in the Fine Dining and Vegetarian PIOs making something that looked and I'm sure tasted delicious that ended up on the plate. (There were other episodes like the Vegan one but the overall dish was a fail so let's not think about that)
I don’t understand why you guys don’t have more subscribers? Mike’s dish looks amazing and will be trying it out some day.
Wow, genuinely impressed with all of them!! Great set of ingredients Ebbers 😃
I'm not even gonna lie, this is one of the very few videos I've seen where I've wanted to try all three dishes from a normals battle, all 3 smashed it out of the park, well done lads
So proud of Mike! And I loved that Barry and Jamie were happy for him too. They all did great. I loved this episode.
Glad to see Mike coming back with confidence this round. Excellent work.
I was very positively surprised by how lovely all the dishes looked in the end! And they were completely different! Aaaand I feel like I could prepare any of them at home, more or less, on a budget. Great job, spot on!
This is the most impressed I’ve been with the normals in a video!! There really wasn’t that much panic or chaos, and they all did spectacular! Good job boys!
I love the look on Ben’s face when Mike is describing the meal he is going to make! 😂🤣🤣
Jamie made a home-style mid week meal, which is absolutely his wheelhouse, and even though he got relegated to last place today, what he brought could have been a winner in a good number of other competitions between the normals. Jamie didn't make something bad, he just brought something that tailed behind 2 other dishes which were also incredible.
I love it whenever Mike wins! His dish was next level today and if I saw the three on a menu or passing by on plate to someone else’s table, that’s the one I’d want. Also…I’ve really been missing your little bloopers at the end. It really solidifies your behind the polished editing friendships and pulls it all together for me xx
I don't think this was a leap for Mike. Mike has out the box thinking but discounts it early on usually. With this we're back in 'Duck Ramen Burger' territory and Mike at his best. BRILLIANT STUFF
Holy hell! These guys are not normals anymore! Also if I saw mike's dish on a menu that's the one would want to try!

Same, it was so good huh.
I really love Barry's dish. He used so many smart midweek tricks with 3 things in the oven at the same time and making the smash in the microwave, that he had 10 minutes to f around with a blood orange and to scare the studio with the bubblies exploding. Every other day, that dish would have won, but they all hit it out of the park.
Ben’s Fridge must be truly a Cave of Wonders, second only to Barry’s fridge.
Yes! More raiding chef fridges and chaos! love the videos guys!
Not surprised there’s fish in Ben’s fridge and ngl I thought he put together the ingredients for a Fish Pie 😂
Barry and Jamie were trying to cheer Mike on somewhat in this video. I’m sure Kush was incredibly proud of him as was the rest of the food team. Good job! I think Barry’s annoyed face at the end says it all! 😂
This is a mighty bounce back from last time. Very impressive job by everyone but Mike's was really something special!

Mike, well done your dish looked so delicious and deserved to win 🏆. Barry, Jamie your dishes look wonderful too. That was really fun to watch. 🥰🇦🇺
It's amazing: In any other battle each of these dishes would be a strong contender for the win. Well done guys!
It was nice to see Mike can really cook wonderfully when he doesn't panick. All the guys did well. I can't pick a winner going on which I would eat. Game meat doesn't agree with me and I'm allergic to fish. Going on the visual to me it's a 3 way tie. Is that new cookware? I hope it's Sorteds' brand cookware.
