The previous episode's video file was corrupted and couldn't be saved :( basically we upgraded the farm house, raised Shantelle Chantelle from her grave but kept her a house. We also planted a death flower in the greenhouse and got some more mini goats/sheep!

It really sucks that your video file got corrupted. I was wondering what the heck happened. The ranch looked a bit different and I was so freakin' confused at first. lol It is a shame it is over, but hopefully we see another soon. Maybe from one of the older Expansions? Great series, Satch!

You can try checking your disk drives for errors. Sometimes that's it. Go to File Explorer > Right click on your Systems Drive (The drive you installed your Windows which is usually C:) > Open Properties > Then go to Tools tab > Under Error Checking, click on Check (It would scan your drive and then if there are errors, it would prompt a restart to fix them and repair the drive) and that's that.

@7:30 Just so you know the reason you keep having kitchen fires is because your kitchen has wood floors. Wood floors have low fire resistance. You want a floor with no fire resistance (stone/tile/masonry/linoleum) or high fire resistance (metal) wherever your stove is. I thoroughly enjoyed the LP and all the chaos in it. i always have wood floors in my kitchens n never have fires, i think shanice might just have a fear of fires which makes them more likely to start fires

@@dedlynightshade I had fires stop after changing to fires. I think it might be also kinda random/caused by mystery factors because for me it only started at like a thousand hours into the save - same family - I am unhinged. There's also a recent fire sentiment or whatever it's called that makes fires more likely for a certain period of time - you have to remove it for all family members + any developed fears of fires to prevent the ongoing fire cycle.... but FR wood flooring stuffed it for me in the last house.

I think it’s hilarious what you said about how the chickens eating all their food immediately. 🤣 My old roommate had chickens & lemme just say that when you brought out the food the little dinosaurs would run at you & literally devour all the food in like 10 seconds. Then they’d be screaming 20 minutes later like they were dying of starvation. 😂 So it’s weirdly accurate in game. Loved this LP, keep up the great work Satch!

This was an amazing lp! Had lot's of fun watching it! Also, the reason why your sims start so many fires is because they have "fear of fire" trait.

I doubt the save file is corrupted due to the deaths because you used legit ways to revive her, and the gravestones just become useless objects after that. Tbh, my game lags too and I keep having to open/close the menu for it to go away. This will probably be fixed in the next patch update.

Ghost needs. Ecoplasma : found in most electric appliances or sims Instead of hunger draining from sims can make them delirious tired or agitated No bladder No hygiene

When the shed and coop get dirty it does make the game lag, cleaning then will let up on the lag. I have mods from Sims4me to cut down on the cottage living animals getting hungry and dirty so quickly. She also made one so your chicken dont have the smelly green effect when the coop gets dirty.

Please do more Let's Play...this was so much fun!

if the save is too messed up to continue, save shanice and chantelle to your gallery from this save file and theyll keep all their traits and skills etc

Yes, I mentioned it in one of your last videos. 1. If you have more than one disk, try to have the game files on one disk and recording on the other. Make sure that OBS (or whatever recording program you use) caches to the other disk as well. 2. Defragment your disk if you are not using an SSD. 3. Your disk may be defective or dying. Back up your data as soon as possible. One of the reasons why The Sims might be the only game to lag is probably due to the way the game works. It is a pretty low RAM game, so it is constantly loading from the disk. It is actually a surprisingly good decision, but it can cause problems if you have a bad disk haha. 4. If I'm not able to physically benchmark and check your PC, none of these things might be helpful, but I'm almost 100% sure your disk is defective. The behavior is weird and the lags show exactly that there is something wrong with the disk or RAMs.

Depending on the level of gardening and fertilizer used, once a Death Flower becomes rare or best quality, the money you get is crazy, unless they changed it.

They probably have the fear of fire which actually makes them start fires more frequently. I usually will buy a “fear be gone” so i can get rid of it because it’s sooo annoying. Almost as annoying as the welcome wagon or fear of failure

I’ve enjoyed this Let’s Play and watching as you built up the ranch and accomplished aspirations along with some interesting chaos to boot! It was a lot if fun to watch and I look forward to you continuing to use these gals to play through future packs as they’re released. I have a specially built gaming PC, too, and Sims 4 is the only game I play that ever lags or the game crashes. A friend of mine who has a university degree and lots of experience working with computers (from PCs to more advanced stuff) and currently works IT for an oil company has even looked at it and said he couldn’t find any issues with the PC itself (hardware or software) and surmised that it’s probably an issue with the Sims 4 software itself since no other games or programs have such issues (that’s not to say other games are perfect, they just don’t lag or crash on me; with the Sims 4 I’ve even tried changing the game settings, which is what I’d normally do when such things happen, and the Sims 4 is the only game that changing the settings doesn’t fix anything). So based solely on what you’ve said about your PC in videos, it’s a lot more likely it’s the game itself and not your PC. Farm work is hard work, long hours, and usually doesn’t pay very well either. And that’s even with all the advancements in technology that continue to happen. It’s why it’s difficult to find people willing to do the work. A friend of mine who grew up on a farm and currently her and her husband also farm shared a meme the other day that essentially said that the reason cities grew was because so many people wanted to get away from working on farms and how it’s funny that some people today romanticize farm life. For the record, since I live in a rural part of the US where agriculture is still a major industry people are employed in (energy and the railroad are the others), I think a lot of people (at least from what I’ve observed watching them play this pack) don’t know what a ranch is. There’s different types of farms. A farm is just a basic word for the source of agricultural materials (crops, animals, etc). A ranch is a specific type of farm just like a vineyard, orchard, or plantation is a specific type if farm. A vineyard is a farm that specializes in growing grapes, an orchard is one that specializes in growing fruit trees and nut trees (if it’s a food that grows on trees, it comes from an orchard), and a plantation is a farm that specializes in growing cash crops like coffee, cocoa, sugar, etc (though in the US and the Americas more broadly the term’s historical connections to the slave trade does mean it conjures negative feelings and thus isn’t used for active farms specializing in cash crops, but the term is still used outside the US and Americas…though often as an English translation rather than the formal name in whatever language). A ranch is a farm that specializes in the raising of grazing livestock (i.e. animals that eat grass). If a ranch specializes in just one kind of animal it will say so: horse ranch, cattle ranch, goat ranch, etc. Same thing happens with the word orchard and plantation where if it specializes in growing just one crop it’ll say so: apple orchard, pear orchard, walnut orchard, sugar plantation, coffee plantation, etc. And even farms get this, like dairy farm, corn farm, etc. Though usually folks who run farms try to mix things up since you want to be able to have income all year long so focusing on one specific animal/crop is usually not advised. Plus the ground has to recover, too, so there’s times when fields have to stay fallow (unplanted/ungrazed) and so as a farmer you’d want to ensure that while that’s happening you have other crops/animals to cultivate and sell to continue to bring income into the business. Farming is a business after all. On the plus side, games like the Sims 4 Horse Ranch and Cottage Living I think bring attention to family farming. And considering we’re living in a time when there’s fewer and fewer family farms as corporate farming continues to grow and replace family farming, an appreciation of family farming is definitely needed. Where I live there’s still lots of family farms, but they’ve basically only managed to survive because of additional revenue paid by oil and natural gas companies paying to drill on their land (oil and natural gas that more often is exported out of the US) or solar and wind companies paying to set up windmills and solar panels on their land (electricity which is mostly then used by folks on the east and west coasts via the national electric grid). So my point is that while farm work is hard work and long hours, working on a farm that’s a specialty farm like a ranch can be easier than a farm that’s a bit of everything. Shanice took the ranch and made it into much more. You basically have a full modern farm here (doing a bit of everything including selling electricity onto the grid), so yeah it’s definitely going to be a lot more work than if you just raised horses or just ran a vineyard and winery. And there’s only two sims. Even most family farms the kids are involved. Heck, kiddos at our county and state fair win crop and livestock awards and all the schools in the area have an FFA club (Future Farmers of America) and 4H club (another ag based club) (we have other clubs, too, like BPA, TSA, FCCLA, BETA, DECA, etc…so it’s not all ag related). So it’s ashame Tax Credit got taken since they could have helped a bit on the farm when they were at least a child (in the Sims 4 helping water the plants at least). If you’ve ever wondered why farm families in the past had so many kids, that’s why. It’s basically free farm help! LOL Though today all the folks with large families I’ve met or know (friends, family, customers, etc) aren’t farmers and the farmers I know (family, friends [including some of my fellow LGBTQ+ folks], customers, classmates, etc) have 2-3 kids only and just hire employees to help (and I have family and friends who have been employees). Thanks for the let’s play! It’s been fun to watch!

I had a very similar issue with my disc, it was a hardware issue so I got a new one. I could plug the new one in and keep the old, save my windows 10 to the new disk through a program I googled up, and then removed the old one. I then had to setup windows to run from the new disk and all is well now. I also made a safety copy of my files to a portable drive. Hope it works out for you! I love your videos and properly enjoyed this series ❤

You could try to delete empty households. It is supposed to help with lagging. This also applies to glitched and deformed animals

I think they missed the mark when it comes to feeding the chickens they should have a feeder that you can purchase just like with the horses, cats, and dogs. From someone who has raised chickens feeding them once a day with a feeder is typically what you do. I don't know anyone who goes and scatters feed for their chickens hourly in real life. Also, the cleaning the animals is horrible in this game it is also something you typically don't have to do hourly in real life but it seems like they get so dirty so quickly in sims 4.

Satch, I just remembered that if you wanted a little less stress about cooking, you could have your sims do the gardening aspiration. It makes your sims invulnerable to fire... but I still wonder if you want them to burn for the entertainment. lol

Really hope you consider doing these let's plays with other packs, not only do you try to get the full experience from the pack but you're bloody hilarious while doing it 😂

Satch' issues with farm animals almost always being unhappy reminds me of Discover University's paid roommate system making roommates usually decide to leave because they think they don't have a bathroom or a bed when it's clearly available. The weird thing is that I've had some house setups work fine for roommates, though I didn't test them extensively... and in the house that was having issues, one of the sims was doing fine and the only difference was that he had his room on the main floor. I guess the roommates who'd stay in that particular house hated going up or down a level and deliberately peed themselves and passed out in protest... lol ...then of course they'd leave. lol

I really loved this Let’s Play! I’m a little sad to see it’s over, but that’s more than overpowered by how I am excited to know that you plan on using this save for later LPs!!! I might also have to use my horse girl powers to draw Ferocious Flange 👀

The reason your animals are so hard to care for is because you never upgrade their houses. Click on the chicken house and animal shed when you do Actions will give you the option to upgrade which has an option for auto feeders. This will save you a lot of time feeding them constantly. Though you will need the right parts and need a handiness skill...but that is one of the first things I tend to work on getting when I have CL animals.

Clumsy sims tend to start a lot of fires. Adding the masterchef (I think that's what it's called) reduces the fires.

My game has been glitching out lately. I reloaded my game and 9+ nannies (all elders, wearing the same jumper) turned up for work. They made loads of plates of food and just hung around the house !

For Gold Place, I've heard both rider and horse need to be a good mood and all green and such before entering a competition.

About trees "disappearing" and turning into saplings. It happens to other plants (not only to trees), and I think this is what they mean by "plant vitality" though I am not sure. The Super Green Thumb trait grants "amazing plant vitality" which means that plants live longer. Since plants don't die unless neglected I think "live longer" means that the life cycle is longer so trees do not turn into saplings and other plants do not turn into germinated seeds. It never happens for my sims who unlock the Super Green Thumb trait.

I had SO much fun watching this let's play! If you're feeling like doing another one in the future, I'm looking forward to it!

I highly recommend you repair your game. I did that recently a lot of my weird glitches went away.

Ik u probably won’t see this but Ik what the problem with ur pc is basically here is how to fix it so u have to go to ur sims 4 folder and go to screenshots u can either delete loads that you do t need or move them and so the same with videos and tray folders the same thing happened to me and this what I did and it fixed it for me hope this helps you and anyone else who needs it

Competition are based on your horse skills, needs and most importantly emotion. If they are very confident, or confident, they are likely to get gold, if the skills are high enough.

Cheaper stoves are at risk for fires more often

You can upgrade the animal sheds to be self-cleaning and the chicken coop to be self-feeding. I do it literally as soon as I get a chance because the rate at which they get dirty is annoying.
