It is weird that you get damge from your own elements. Did you check if the logia invulnerbility is active in the skills/actions menu (I dont know what it is called)? I think that could be the problem.

And I remember them being confused about it in one of the videos so I thought maybe I say something because I did not see anyone talk about it. But it makes sense for logia vs P. Or Z.
