For those wondering how he got Caly and both the horses but not the reigns despite them just being sold in Scarlet Violet as soon as you get the pokémon; It's a little know fact that before giving access to the reigns the cartridge is actually programmed to check your current bank statement and if it's under a certain threshold a flag goes up that removes reigns from your game entirely! This also works for people who have them already and the game will actually UNFUSE your Caly before deleting the reigns for you until you get your money up hence the value of winning big tournaments! Hope this helps 🙏🙏🙏

As someone experimenting with VGC for the first time on Showdown, it's not that I don't know I can use restricted Pokemon. I just don't want to. It's more fun to navigate a win with off meta or lesser used Pokemon rather than the new OP toys or usual suspects. Sure, my track record may be in the negative at the moment but it's part of the learning curve. I'm not aiming to be the best, just to win and have a fun time doing it.

I get that this is a meme, but I think it'd be really interesting to see how competitive of a team you could make in current reg with just the base game. No DLC, no Sw/Sh, just a single copy of Pokemon Scarlet or Violet. A "budget build," if you would. How far could you get with such a team?

Probably pretty far. Koraidon sun with a treasure of ruin would get you all six members, though you'd have to use something like Arcanine instead of incin. You could probably get to master ball with something like koraidon/Arcanine/chi-yu/flutter mane/walking wake/your choice

@@DJayPhresh Walking Wake is a weird one because it's in the DLC Pokedex but asfaik you can't actually get one by purchasing the DLC. It's a raid exclusive which means anyone can obtain it if they played while the raids were active and in fact it was actually released before the DLC was.
