We BUILT a Race Track at The Shmuseum! | VLOG 91
Now this was a good idea! Welcome to the latest addition to @TheShmuseum, a full Carrera race track setup. @Shmee150 makes no secret that the garage is for all sorts of automotive fun, and it transpires that the competitive natures of the team all come out now.
First up, we need to clear some space, and that means moving the Jaguar XJ220 along and in fact with long term storage in mind, putting it up on the Kuberth tyre cushions. Then starts the slightly sketchy process to bring the table that Tom has been working on recently around to the main hall of the barn.
The awesome guys at Carrera very kindly supplied this whole set up of the Digital 132 system for us to put together a serious slot car track on the table that has recently been built by Tom for the purpose. Positioned in the line of cars within the garage, the full build gives us a track approximately 16 metres in length with all sorts of hurdles to overcome. Equipped with a selection of cars including the Porsche 935, Ford GT, 911 RSRs, Corvette C7.R and Aston Martin Vantage GT3, the race is on!
We'll never be too old to have fun, and it's amazing how quickly the day vanishes! Thanks to Carrera:

A top gear style lap time board on the wall would be AWESOME. Every guest has to run a lap and record the times!

I’m 44 and have 400+ ho scale cars and 140ft track in my basement with 1000ft scale drag strip 😊😉
Getting an actual Leaderboard up on the wall to record yours and guests laptimes and the parts and maybe recreating proper racetracks would be amazing if possible Tim, this has to be one of the best additions to the Shmuseum ever. I look forward to more track coverage in the future.

Its all possible, an app can be had, to hook a laptop into track and thus to a big screen on the wall.............I have a carrera track up stairs and there are LOTS of things that can be done. All sorts.
Ive never seen tim laughing soo hard thats the joy of happines in the shmuseum
Love this.... As a slot head this makes me smile. What better person to choose to help promote this incredible hobby.
I didnt know slot cars were “popular” outside the US. My dad is 60 so he has into them forever now. I faded away from it but its so cool to know the slot car world is still going

I would suggest adding lights and liting the whole track and play it at dark with Ambient light in background it will be such a vibe Also if you can add crowd cheering sound in the background and other pit sound effects that would be so cool
Toms shots of the racetrack are actually ace!
HI Tim,,, Great addition to your collection. I think you should have a custom plastic cover made to keep the dust off the track. 👍🐸👍
That is so cool. Thank you for allowing us to share in your adventures.
Loving the track!! Maybe try putting some table tennis style / size nets around the outside to stop the cars coming off. And also you guys should do your own top gear style lap time board for the shmee team and guests
Amazing how interesting toys/model cars can be. Me and my uncle who lives in the apartment underneath me own together around 400 model cars, amazing collection that he has gathered throughout 10 years of time. But these slot cars were a big part of my childhood, very tempting to buy a track now :D

Its easy, I ordered my carrera set from Germany, it got here quick in the US. More cars and track parts can easily be had....carrera stuff is bullet proof. Cars very reliable.
Looks like no work is going to get done, as you have a new toy. Hours of fun times ahead. That’s put a smile on my face today 😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍
Good work Tom! Beautifully done on the table brother!
This channel is fast becoming my preferred one over the main channel. Love the relaxed vibe and general banter. Also, who doesn't love a decent slot car track? 👌

I think both channel deserve a lot of credit, Shmee150 being the most "serious" and informative of them and TheShmuseum being the behind the scene and the team's logistic vlogs, "human" and accessible for most of us compared to any dreamy zillion dollars Hypercar

This was an epic video and as the museum grows with all the plans this channel will be another level to any supercar channel! Having guests playing games, podcasts upstairs with view of below with big names in supercar world, guests bringing there machines The list goes on and on! Car builds in other side this channel will be number one by a mile! And shmee150 channel will be when he travels! He is slowly building a supercar expire that most don't see! In 2 years time Tim will probably be on big tv programs have big relationships with car manufacturers the sky is the limit! The shmuseum is going to be another level! All starting from a kid filming supercars in London!! I'm sure he has a big vision of all the above! Well done Tim !!!
Always good to work smarter not harder. Awesome to see your vision for the Shmuseum come to fruition.
I love how most of this is literally just Tim and his mates figuring it out as they go along 😂
Oh yes Tom's Table is what I thought it was for. I'm a slot car guy and love it Tim guy's you lucky people that's some box's of goodies!!
Love when Tim’s inner child gets the keys. Well done lads.
I love the self racing mode of the track. Not only is it fun to watch, you can have races on display in the background when you're not playing yourself
Total childhood memories with the slot car’s! Wow we’re all still children when we grow up
You know you've been watching Tim a long time when you know whats coming like with my guess on the large table or stand for the slot car track. Lol
I remember growing up with the small ones. It was where my love of cars grew. Looks like so much fun
After all this time watching Tim and the 2 lads. All the amazing cars and adventures. This is the first time I've felt envious.....
This is going to be fun but hell at the same time with how competitive everyone is
These things have come a long way since we were kids! I need a set now. This is awesome. I love the autonomous feature.
Tim is a happy guy, but you can see in his face how special and fun this day was
24:30 that was hilarious, had to rewatch a few times and I kept laughing.

Almost positive everyone that watches this does the same thing. Loved that moment.
That's a sweet setup. Here in the U.S, we had a lot of Tyco Race tracks.. And AFX.. I still have one that you could steer the cars. That'll always be hours of fun . Enjoy my friend..
Brings back great memories. I have a huge vintage scalextric set of cars, tracks and accessories. It filled up a 450 sq ft room. I played with it every single day. My dad was also the biggest exporter of American muscle cars in the 60’s and beginning of the 70’s to Europe. And I was playing around in the cars all day long too. Started them up and listened to the V8 roaring. Hence, I love old school muscles. I still have the scalextric set and tempted to set it up again. But I also have quite a few of my dad’s muscle cars. I enjoy them every single week driving them.
Love it! I would recommend adding a catch net around the sides and back areas to help catch the flying cars from hitting the floor.

Great Fun Video Tim, Thanks.
That track is very cool! Those cars are solo dope 🔥🔥
So many memories with slot cars! Truly enjoyed the video and laughed a lot!
I called it when you first showed the table under construction! Highlight of my year.
Awesome!!
I don't think you have ever had so much simple fun on a video! Cheers.
Great to see afew smiles,, simple things
Maybe add a little angled catch deck around the table, should be a bit longer anyway.. more straight 👍🏽
I Love how quickly you guys got competitive with the slot cars!! 😂
Great slot car track and cars. Big kids with new toys
You should get small banners for the corners where cars go flying, especially the last one where any flying car could hit the jag. Get small banners made that are like 20cm tall by 45cm long that slide onto poles on the ends. That way you can get different ones that can be changed out quickly but still look better than nets.
The Shmuseum Awesome Video I think it's awesome that Carrera sent you guys those awesome race tracks and I think it's fun to watch you guys enjoy yourselves
Would love to see guest races, more cars and banked turns!
Reminds me of my childhood. We had an HO train table we had built at home on a table of about that size and I used to go to the Slot Car center where they had a bunch of different tracks. You would bring your own car and controller and they had 8 lane tracks for group racing. I had a friend watching me and asked why I kept slowing down at the corners so I showed him why. I kept the accelerator down and my car went airborne. I actually broke an axle and had to have it repaired. Have fun with your new toy!
What an episode 👏 💚💙💚💙
That is really cool, and happy birthday Tim.
Great video guys. You could make an hole to go into building 2 with the slot car track, also clear perspex 12 inches high to go around your table. Thanks for the memories
So awesome ❤😊👍 I so wanna visit the shmuseum, I hope one day it will be possible to visit 😊 I love what you are doing with the place 😍👍
This was really cool to see, nice one guys
the thing I used to like most was teaching the cars with the lights off!!!!
That was so fun.
What a great idea. I would have time trial competitions. Head to head looks fun, but to truly see who is the best, time trial is the way to go.
I used to have a TCR Racing set in the 70's you could switch tracks anywhere on the race track, loved it. Brings back awesome hours of memories
lots of late nights n not much work done. lol. very cool lads.
Well that looks like fun! You’re going to need some corner names… down the Perlemor straight into the right hander at Cerulean…
I know what I’m getting myself for Christmas 🤣this will be fun for me and my son! Awesome content by the way✅
This... is SICK. I really hope the track can be expanded, upgraded, have a nice faux-grass thing on the table, have some #SafetyCarpet (😂) on the ground, etc. I've never been as excited for a non-actual-car thing in the #Shmuniverse as I am for dis. 🤩 #RaceTournament

I love this, it's very creative! I have an idea which could help with the arrangements. My idea was to put the guest cars under the Mesanine and to put the lounge on top of the Mesanine along with the Swatch collection and the model cars to then move them inside the mesanine once the walls are built for it to be better accommodated
Wow loved that track hopefully one day I'll also have the same. So fun also guys why is puppi not on camera I mean she was in the background when the 4 cars were racing 🤔
Years back I got a massive box of 4 lane track, bridges, cross overs, controllers and a load of cars, some really rare, including some drift cars (they are made to drift on the corners a certain speeds) and limited editions etc. for really cheap on eBay, but buying cars became a bit of an obsession, modifying them with motors, decals and sticky tyres, even special body shells, if you’re into model cars, there’s a whole world to this stuff.
I always wanted this as kid, and still now
Keep those slotcar videos coming!!!
Love it and hoped that is what the table was for … loads of clubs across U.K. and a lot of HUGE routed wood tracks with very fast cars. Look up a local club and get along for a look. The Dunfermline slot car club is maybe a little far for you though Tim!! 🏎
this looks so cool
You should do a table with all times and visitors names! Would be a cool competition
You guys R.O.C.K. and just wished I lived a little closer! Ontario Canada is NOT around the corner LOL enjoy the CARRERAS!!
i loved my Scalexctric when i was younger and i loved making new tracks up.
From Sidney, Ohio. Thank you for building a huge layout and more importantly bring the hobby to your millions of viewers! I've been into slotcars since I was 8 years old and I'm 54 now. WAAAAAAY more cooler than any car videogame. YOUNGER VIEWERS TAKE NOTE! Too much track left over! Check out "That Slot Car Guy" LOLGo bigger or go home! Also, there is a 1/32 scale 24hours of LeMans held in the UK every year, track to scale.
"Chill Zone" just stepped it's game up. Awesome fun to be had and maybe put up a chain fence around the corners for car safety. Watching this made me feel just like a kid.
Thats sooooo cool
love this
I love model cars, i have a small collection of 60 hotwheels exotic cars, and setups like these just make me soo happy

As a slot racer also useing Carrera .Im sure you guys will have a blast . Later you should ad some track borders for getting those cars drifting on the corners ...then you should get the dongle for wifi you cane connect to your phone and the race app and then you can put a big tv on the wall and see all your laptimes and listen to race commentary on your wall tv ...the options are endless .if you want to race slotcars from different brands you can get a digital chip to install and then those cars will be compatible with your Carrera system 🤗Greetings from Northern Europe....Harry
Its a crazy cool system
Should definetly have a whiteboard with the fastest laps of visitors
I’m 72 and had such fun with slot cars! I may have had as much fun designing track layouts as running the cars! 👍🏼
As a long-time owner of a Carrera 1/24 exclusiv track that I fiddled with over the years, track aprons are (imo) first things to add to a set . . They look great and allow cars in the outside lane to slide (oversteer) into and out of the corners. Then there's the age old debate about removing the cars tractions magnets . . . . which I'm all for.
49 year old bloke here, getting up in the loft tomorrow to dig out the Scalextric sets!
Would be great if they did slot cars of the Shmeemobiles!!
I remember in the early 60s there was for a time a slot car track in a shop in a lane way called Angel place opposite Wynyard station in Sydney, during lunch time you couldn’t move ,it eventually closed and turned into a record shop , again it was always full of teenagers listening to the latest 45s . Oh where. has the good times gone.
Build a small race wall around the table, could buy green carpet and fake trees to add some colour to it and maybe some race trailers and things to spruce up the track environment
Beautiful - Electric forklift or a hand powered floor jack or truck.. for large items or a solid wood deck plywood to rest on the tynes
prefer scalextrics myself, but this is a nice setup and the features and programming of the controls is very cool. nice addiction to the rest of the setup in that part of the unit.
Guys that Race Track is very cool
Great product placement from Carrera in the home of the UK brand Scalextric. Little cost for them, great exposure, now if Tim and co get serious they'd get some better performing cars from Slot it, NSR, Racer Sideways, Thunderslot etc.
U can put plastic acrylic walls around the table 3 walls will be enough one at the barn wall side and other two at the tents and auto stakers side and it will save the both real an rc cars nice and cheap and easy to install and it will also look like a race track in a glass box as a display
Very cheeky Tim 😅
brad literally said what i was thinking about the track going off the table and back on
You need to extend the track of course.. This looks fun even just through the camera
Yah I knew it. Also, freaking awesome! Can I come over and play when you guys aren’t around?
This week, inspired by your collection, I finally bought the last Lego Speed Champions set... so now I have every single one in brand new, sealed boxes! It’s going to be a long, busy winter...

The part where the 911 flips over onto the roof, slides a few inches, and then FALLS off the table while nailing the landing got me good 😂 ALSO the PART SHORTLY AFTER where the one car fell off and it sounds like an explosion happened 😬
