Yeah but the prices would go up because of the software and hardware required to do so.

$100 for one of those isn’t a bad price, actually. A company by the name of Sphero has made a mini (non-customizable) version of that for $50 more, so the fact that the bigger Disney equivalent is actually cheaper is a HUGE plus! I’d love to go there someday and make my own. But I guess that’ll remain a dream for now.

Whoever says that the price just to get the droid is too much, its not the droid youre paying for, its the experience.

Experience of building an ikea kit... sure it justify the price... For the light saber I could understand a slight bump in price due to the actors and the "light show". But this ? come on. Disney is so greedy and people still buy from them same story with apple. Ps: for this price point you could have other good robots in the market, maybe not from star wars but still.

bruh we're far from a point in time where we can mass produce walking robots to sell as toys and a non motorized version could never justify the pricepoint. 100$ is already far more expensive than those droids have any right to be, imagine to pay that for an actual scrap of plastic

Derick TCG That's not how it's done. You go to school, get a fancy diploma and then you can be an upper class fairly easily. It's just really time consuming and in some places really expensive, but if you're smart about it you can just study somewhere else for free. Better than being poor.

Pretty snazzy!!! That was a fun vlog. I wasn’t completely sold on the Droid Depot, but this was pretty persuasive! It seems like there’s some pretty cool little features built into them. Our vote for his name is MD-55 (Magic Dads - 55 for Disneyland)

That was so much fun to watch Mike build the droid! And it was awesome to see them activate it and bring your BB to life! We are a little freaked out though that everything in the land will interact with them. It’s amazing, but also slightly terrifying. Haha!!

Robert Lively well let’s face it, the rule exists for a reason, there would be so many situations ranging from people being basically harassed to kids losing their droids in the crowds to people kicking and breaking someone’s droid either on accident or on purpose. Long story short, it was probably best just to prevent them from being out in the first place.

The droid I would build looks identical to the one you did. I always thought that BB9-E was an awesome designed droid in the movie, but I just wish he was a good guy droid instead The name B-111 (or B1-11) has a nice ring to it

About how long did this process take to make a droid? We're looking to go next Summer and our son (who will be 14 then) really wants to do this. Thank you :)

They actually do not interact with the other droids. What actually happens is when you get to different parts of the park there are different beacons that send out a signal to the droids to make their sounds activate and it gives the appearance of the droids interacting.

So cool 😎
