I was reminded of watching helicopters spinning up when I served. It's an exciting sound, that terrifies the soul at the same time
With the GoPro shot from under the blades, I noticed there was a point where the frame rate matched with the rpm and it looked stationary. What if you found that rate and then dropped stuff so it looks like things are just falling into pieces?

Sword Machine vs. Melon is going to be tough to beat for Slowie Of The Year.... Watching those blades flex was absolutely bonkers! Wonderful job, fellas!
@beatles42ohgg94
Жыл бұрын
this is one of the reasons the katana was such a formidable weapon. did you see how they bent and wobbled like noodles? other lesser swords would either straight up break, or bend, and not bend back. that flexibility was what made them amazing. now, if only they attatched them at a slight angle for the slicing motion instead of chopping motion.
@outandabout259
10 ай бұрын
@@beatles42ohgg94 actually you got that completely backwards. Katanas with their differential hardening have one hard but brittle edge and a soft spine that bends instead of springing back. Many spring steel swords from medieval Europe and other places, on the other hand, can bend pretty much into a C and will spring right back with no plastic deformation. Sure, a katana will not snap like a spring steel sword when bent more than it can handle, but the amount it can bend before plastic deformation is significantly smaller.
I have never been more concerned for your safety than I was today. When those katanas broke loose that was scary!

You could have a channel just throwing stuff in that monstrosity in slo-mo 24/7. It's hypnotic.
Start preparing for the highest basketball throw guys. Need the record back you'll have to get it back.
The sound it makes makes it so terrifying lol. The way the swords bend in that last one is pretty insane. Slowmo reveals a lot of stuff that we had no idea goes on when objects interact, it's pretty interesting.
It's always fun seeing solid steel turn into noodles due to force applied. Good job.

This is actually due to the frame rate of the camera. When a blade is in the same spot in the circle every time the camera captures a frame, it will look like it's standing still. If it's slightly faster or slower it will look like it's going slow or backwards. This is the same reason it happens multiple times since all the swords look the same, you don't know how many swords you're seeing between frames and it can vary.

@@wandrin2925 I don't remember ever seeing the backward spinning with my own eyes in natural light. It happens all the time with lights that flicker on and off though! As far as I know, eyes don't have a specific "refresh rate" where all receptors go on and off at the same time, there is a lot of overlap and at any given time some are on and some off, which results in a smooth blend and motion blur instead of sharp still images.

Ballistic gel models of the boys! Also don't enlarge the holes in the katanas and put some wood or other reinforcement either side of them clamped with the same two (smaller) bolts through the holes so they absorb the flex with the blade rather than the tang with a massive hole in! Katanas are actually incredibly weak sword that can chip and bend at everything if you tried to split someone down the middle you would break the sword and you can not cut bone with them well you half to hit joints so you don't make it impossible to use also you can and very easily with a long sword which are actually lighter than katanas split the katana in half they are not what they are cracked uped to be
