I had one of these. Fantastic machine. I HIGHLY recommend the Motive 4.10 ring & pinion gear set to replace the stock 3.42 gear set. Runs VERY strong with this upgrade.

3.73 is the choice of basically all track drivers. 4.10 is for drag racing for the most part.

I had one just like that in velocity yellow with competition grey wheels for 5yrs back when I got it in 2007. That car was a head of everything at the time. Embarrassed the F430, the 911 TT, Lambo....3.5 sec 0-60 and low 11's@123-125mph. Some guys even got into the 10's bone stock. To me, this is the best vette ever. Its light weight, is a clean, good looking design, manual tranny, big NA engine, great handling, and very fast. The power after 4500RPM is explosive. I plan on getting another one in the near future and this time, its not going anywhere.

This is probably the best C6 review I’ve seen. No one ever covers the cylinder head issues or the skip shift function (most people get rid of that). Another thing to watch out for is the wobbly ass harmonic balancer that always fails across multiple GM platforms. Fix that while doing the heads! Can’t wait to see what you guys do with it.

The cylinder head issue was recently very well covered by C&S Corvettes. Owning a 06 Z06 has me paranoid because of the internet and it’s being blown out of scale. Mines got 60k kms on it as it’s a USA in Canada so I miss out on that amazing 320 kph dash. But what an amazing car. Horrible seats but amazing car.

@@TheSurfRyder C&S is a dedicated Corvette channel so it’s not surprising that he’d mention it, but a channel like this hitting the finer details of the car rather than just broad strokes is refreshing. Also, the paranoia is warranted. It’s a well documented issue and if any mods are planned addressing it is critical. Throtl just did a C6z build without doing the heads or research and it’s pretty much a guaranteed time bomb. I have a 13 GS, balancer started wobbling within 5k miles of daily driving it lol. The issues are real.

C6 Corvette is the best value for a modern Corvette. It’s going to be a classic, no doubt. Even the base models -It’s design is simple & beautiful, it sounds great, drives great, and is fast. Have fun!

That shot of the white tube socks though Seeing you guys transition from bros to dads in front of my eyes is *astounding* and it is not lost on me how much you're leaning into it to good effect C6 Corvette fits nicely with this bro-->dad theme too

Ha ha, Two men in jean shorts usually not going in the right direction, but it's a car technology channel, and I own a C6 Z, so I have to watch.

I love the unpacking of sensibilities that comes along with a slightly older more antiquated machine.

I’m excited to finally watch new quality videos on this car. I’ve owned my Zo6 for two years and it’s been a blast. Not much modification and it kills some pretty serious new supercars

This is awsome. The c6 is my favorite generation of corvette and the z06 in yellow is the pinnacle for me. Can't wait for the rest of this series. Good job and keep it up!

Eagerly waiting for the next video in the series. I have a 2009 C6 Z06 with a Stage 2 Katech. It jumped from about 440 rwhp to 550 but still very drive-able outside of the track. If you're doing engine work i would definitely recommend addressing the valve issue if nothing else for peace of mind.

the entire design still looks great, apart from the body colored headlights imo. i always thought they looked kinda weird (black c6s don't have this problem).

I just got one earlier this month and love it so far! Excited to see what you guys do with this

@@TheStraightPipes Agreed, both good choices. But I am sure this LS7 is gonna be a "bit more powerful" when you two are finished. Heck, maybe do a C5 Z too and build it up and see what you get. That would be a neat comparison.

You guys have a 2lz (luggage shade, heated seats, telescoping wheel etc). sat nav radio was optional with 2lz. 3lz came out in the later years all that added was stitched leather dash and door panels.

@@TheStraightPipes crank, 592whp on mustang dyno (tuner calculated crank hp),7speed manual,Z51, LT1,Vortech Si trim+ intercooler+ Green Belt carb legal setup from A&A, Zr1 front clip to fit intercooler,stock fueling, long tube Headers,xpipe, cats deleted, corsa extreme, green racing filter, love it but always need to clean the exhaust pipes weekly from the carbon buildup, also im 33years old and laugh everytime the Corvette waive comes along from grey haired retirees 😁

The Corvette Z06 is the best sports car bargain!!- Doug DeMuro, And he almost brought one as well!! Also.. you guys have pretty much owned most of weird cars, and sports cars. So i figure that you should buy or at least review a used SUV, and i mean like a real or interesting performance SUV, or an off road oriented SUV, or maybe a minivan from the 90s, 2000s or even 2010s.

I picked up a 07 with 1700 miles on it in 2021 before the market exploded so blessed to have got it at the perfect time!!! Just rolled 5800 miles on it will start my engine mods soon, I really love these cars can’t wait to see what y’all do with it 🤙

I'm really stoked for this series! I have a 2009 Z06 in the same yellow color, curious to see where you guys end up taking the build, maybe it will inspire me too :) If you have a chance to film the engine mods (I'm assuming heads fix as well), I'd love to see that, as mine is completely stock aside from a mild2wild exhaust switch and I got some ridiculously high quotes (US ~$7K for heads + cam) for stuff that can theoretically be largely done by a savvy owner
