We bought land on an island for $45,000

I have been traveling around the world looking for dream land and dream investment opportunity and I found the plot to my next tropical home. For $45,000, I know am the proud owner of land in Ambergris Caye in Belize and I can't wait to build my home.

@@monicamcgahan Yep. It's all a perspective issue. I know middle class people barking about the same thing because the billionaire class is buying EVERYTHING up mostly as investments and not to use. I guess the real question (for me) is it OK if the person with is...lives there and uses it vs. just uses as a tool to make more money or invest in. you should try being an American working in America.... the price for a one family house with a very small amount of land increased 500-800%. The only people that can afford them are development companies and really rich people. If someone bought a house and got a mortgage 10 years ago, they could have got that 500,000-700,000 home for around $140k.

However, it's evident that your focus has shifted towards wealth, real estate, and status displays alongside your friends. Acquiring land in foreign countries without ties to the community mirrors modern colonialism, and accumulating generational wealth resembles monarchy. Where do the locals fit into this narrative? Where is the preservation of natural spaces? It seems that your priority lies in building nightclubs and encroaching upon wild spaces to bolster your generational wealth. Because what I noticed about the Cay Calker area is a lot of the land they're building has to be filled which costs money. The infrastructure isn't the same that's why places like Bali and Tulum are a bit more expensive since the infrastructure is already there.

I would rather invest in Vietnam or Thailand because South america is not the most stable zones for tourism or business, its disadvantaged in terms of trade accessability its workforce is smaller its state support for business is questionable, and we are talking about internal population growth as well as economic opportunity/output in our lifetime only 100 years maximum. For example South east asia is sitting in the middle of Major trade arteries making food and more goods affordable for local population and local population sallaries does not require to be higher because of this reason, tourism tends to come to those places because of affordability and quality and it has larger pool of people who could visit from all over the world. since it is a transit hubs of major population of the world. Belize and Mexico is not a major transit hub except for drugs, its workforce are smaller these are the people you are also betting on you are not just betting on the beauty you are also betting on the people of that country you are investing in this is what you must keep in mind when making decision like this.

I travelled to many countries and lived in a few of them. I have been to Belize 20 years ago and it was not that cheap even at that time . Food was very expensive since a lot of them is imported and houses in Belize City were expensive. Belize City is not a safe place specially if you are a foreigner. Of course outside of Belize City is different . Well everyone look at things with different eyes. My pick would be Panama, Fiji, Thailand or Sri Lanka, safer than Belize and much cheaper. Philippines is also another good choice. Then if you are looking for something safer Portugal is a big winner. Houses in Portugal are very reasonable outside Lisbon. Property taxes are ridiculous low and food are not that expensive.
