With the wasted campers/RV’s you have in your yard, I think an RV conversion would be neat. You have all the fixtures and stuff.

Have you seen how dodgy their workmanship is, I don't think they should try doing a conversion, not if they don't want to lose money, just sell it as is.

Years ago the wife came home to find a school bus in our yard. Went to county auction that day and couldn't pass up the bus, I only paid $350 for it and drove it home. made good money on it.

I bet a church, senior center, private school,etc would buy that in a heartbeat! Peace

Don't forget to check the front and rear wheel bearings for water contamination too.

as a huge school bus nerd this bus is actually very beautiful! also those couple buttons by the door switch are for your reds and ambers your bus has a warning light master switch which if it isnt turned on you cant activate your ambers! I cant wait to see more episodes on this beautiful bus!

Michael and Ivan, that's a darn nice bus. You were fortunate to find one with relatively few things wrong. From what I've heard, Blue Bird makes a really good bus. You could put lots of hours into making a camper or you could bless a church, youth camp, or some such with a reasonably priced bus and not pour more money into this.

Ultimate toy hauler, leave couple rows of seats, then convert the rear to park the side by sides, some tools, mini kitchen etc

Get a sponsor, one of the big BBQ houses, and turn it into a portable BBQ smoker pit wagon to roam the country and hit all the fairs, concerts and such. In exchange you get all you can eat brisket and ribs for life...if you know where the next stop is for the school bus pit wagon. Have fun and save a rib or two for your fans!

Very nice bus!! That’s either a 2000-2004 Bluebird International 3800 with a good ole DT466E engine. Yes it does have a big turbo. Gives it tons of power.

Likely a 2003. The number "2503" painted on the side usually indicates that it was the 25th bus purchased by the school district in 2003. In MY district, it's the reverse, it would be numbered "0325".

School bus would make a perfect enclosed car carrier just remove a few seats and add a rail and a winch perfect !😁😁😁😁

Maybe would make a good church activity bus. You could give them a good price on it and get heavenly rewards. What an adventure bring it home. You guys are definitely resourceful and talented mechanics.

The bus you guys found is an International Bluebird, the switches that you are referring to are the Warning Light Master when this worked on a route and the W/L Override to keep reds on in case of an emergency. The Light bulb was the strobe for the top at night and the engine this bus has is the DT466E which E is Electronic instead of a Mechanical one. Those had the Fuel switch that you push and pull to cut off and activate the fuel, beside the ignition so you had to manually cut off the fuel even when the key was off, If you need more information let me know

Turn the bus into an RV. Have Ivan paint the yellow, leave the top white I'd be cheaper. Put in a kitchen, bathroom, big bed, table.

Paint the bus with several different colors. Form a family band and tour the country.

A great adventure just getting it back to the shop! It cleaned up nicely too. I wouldn't worry about the mileage those engines are built to last, just recheck all the fluids and lubricants. I would do a camper conversion or as others have said see if a Church group want it for their choir perhaps. If you do a camper conversion think very carefully before you start and make a plan. Those 3800 buses my school district bus mechanic swears by it that they are the best bus make international ever made they loved them they do wish they could go back to them.

I bet that was one of the back up buses. With how old it is.

At 1:26- That door is a storage compartment for emergency reflector triangles to set out in case the bus breaks down on the roadside. Some buses also have wheel chocks in there.

Looks great! You may want to take a have transmission flush with equipment to get all old / water out of Torque converter.

That's what the long drive did. It probably did not have much to start with, but 6 hours at operating temp with a fluid change or two probably did a great job.

"Skoolie" build for sure

@15:28 flip up the W/L Master switch- this is the main power for the warning lights. Then press the silver button labeled W/L SW.. this should start the warning lights.. amber first, then when you open the door, they turn to red and the stop sign and crossing arm deploy. The W/L EMER button is for use in an emergency in case your warning lights don't activate when you press W/L SW.. it is an override switch that activates red lights immediately. The 2 black knobs with dots on the surround are for your mirrors.. driver and passenger, top and bottom side mirrors.. the front cross view ones are manually adjusted. @15:39 the switch in front of your thumb is for the strobe light on top of the bus.. C/ARM CANCEL cancels the cross arm in the front. The button above your knuckle is for the heated mirrors.. to the right, in the middle is for your defroster fan, and all the to the right is for your interior dome lights

RV conversion. Once you do it and understand the pitfalls you may be able to buy a 2nd bus with rear end body damage to convert into a toy hauler with a wider door for 4 wheelers or side-by-side and some space for a bed or two.

i drove a school bus for 2 years after retiring from NJ Transit Bus. The school would replace the seat if it was ripped, they said it was the law. Liability I think. The student bar in the front will work when the lights are activated. Keeps the kids from walking right in front of the bus where you can't see them (I had a kid walk into it and bent it). Don't know if you have a child alarm in the back but you will have to go to the back of the bus to shut it off when you shut the bus off. So you don't leave any kid on the bus. I think it would be great as an RV. I picture bunk beds for your kids on each side, queen bed in the very back. Do not use the RED Stop, or the flashing lights while driving it around. Big No No! NJ makes you take them off before registering it. Some states say you have to convert it before registering it. "Navigation Nowhere" You Tuber would be a good source for info.

Finish cleaning it up change/flush all the fluids wash the motor for sale Also don’t know how fast it drove but most schools set the speed on them need hook up to computer you can have it turned up even have spec’s adjusted

Convert it into a shop on wheel take the seats out and put tool boxes and bench’s in to work on staters or carburetors or something would be really cool to see

I figured a school bus would be the last vehicle to have water damage. It must have been a 20' surge. The bus mechanicals are already about 5' off the ground and the interior can be rinsed out with a hose.

Yeah the rear end a lot of times they fills up with water from a flood... He always got to check the transmission and engine for water of course you guys might have got lucky hopefully didn't get in the turbos

For sure use your multiple skills and turn this into a Skoolie bus conversion. Bluebirds are highly sought after for this purpose.

Other option is cleaning all wire connections and drivetrain fluids / paint bus and donate it to inner city ministry or church! You get tax credit bless someone! I use to be youth pastor in East St. Louis and we had four old buses to transport children and adults! What is nice about your bus is it’s shorter bus still has a good amount of seats😎🙏🏻

Make sure u take off the school bus sign and stop sign and lights before conversion. You can use them on private land but not on public roads, unless you're a licensed school bus driver.

Build it into a hauler with a small living quarter.

Or add a massive sound system for the school bus at least 50,000 Watts stereo
