I don't go on the forms very often and I'm glad you show me how to look out for the scammers I guess I'm just a naïve I just go to the forms to try to get some help deciding whether a product I am looking into buying it's worthwhile buying I was hoping I'm getting honest opinions from people on the form to help make my decision. I'm a private life-time Hi-Fi hobby enthusiast (or superfreak freak 🤡), with helas to much of spare time. But i have left all forums. I've tried them all, from late 80's and onwards till recent. The amount of top down, down up bizar unlawful 'gas lighting' I had to endure, is almost suited for a thriller / suspense type movie script!

Do you know anything about the new Rane active crossovers ? I notice they are now made in Taiwan...the AC23 3 way stereo model....I purchased an American made one 13 years back for over $1200. The new one seems ok as I took the chance on it. I like their dj mixers too. Does any of the hifi tribe use one of these units? Thanks for any info anyone may have.

AGD Tempo video you posted 2 years ago, you replied to a comment that one can reasonably interpret as your disavowing being an AGD dealer (You wrote, “What idiot would be an AGD dealer when the manufacturer is selling around them, as evidenced by the "Buy it now" button on thier website?”). Perhaps that is how some folks get their misinformation.

They did not say that. They said I "got dumped," which is an outright lie. There's no way to garner that from me admitting I'm an idiot selling alongside a direct sale mfg. There is no misinformation in my statement. So how did they get it? Right, they made it up. People love to put words in other people's mouth. One needs to take statements at face value and not add ones own story to it. I am still that idiot selling alongside the mfg. But I'm a happy idiot. 😊 it's very hard for people to accept truthful statements.

One reading your reply could reasonably come to the conclusion that you were not an AGD dealer and that perhaps AGD did pause your status as an AGD dealer. That is why @twoleftears said his comment.

This is all very true. Even to the extent that one of Mikey's favorite brands (but not one that he's an actual dealer for) has a long history of exactly this kind of crap. Understand, I'm not bagging on Mikey as I'm sure he isn't aware. My point is simply that it's far more pervasive than you might imagine.

I don't disagree with Mike's points about people shilling, but it's not all that difficult to rack up a high post count on a forum. I just checked the one I used to be on years ago and I've got over 5000 posts. That was just me sitting at a desk doing my work and posting on the audio forum in the dead spaces throughout the day. If you get engagement with other users any social media can be addictive.

I'd say I was on there about 6 years or so. It was a positive place where most people got along. Sure there were fights and drama, but it was well moderated.@@OCDHIFiGuy

It never crossed my mine about long standing high post cost members to be implants. I think they retired or just love audio. No different from my wife who is on Facebook and Instagram with her 5 sisters. They talk a lot!!!

Hi Mike - I’m totally in agreement with your assessment of the audio forums, I’ve also been highly suspicious of members with thousands of posts. A lot of times, these folks are also on multiple forums which makes it even more fishy to me. That being said, I just wanted to say that I don’t think it’s fair to suggest that Verdant, the other ADG dealer, and "twoleftears" may somehow be in cahoots. I am in no way suggesting that was your intent, just trying avoid any unnecessary collateral damage. The original post by Verdant was in 2022 and wasn’t brought back to life until your post. Again, I agree with what you’re doing, but one could get the (false) impression that the original post and your post happened concurrently or were least more recent. I will disclose that I purchased a preamplifier from Verdant in the past, but have no relationship with the dealer otherwise. I thought he was great to deal with and very knowledgeable during my purchase - I would hate to see his reputation somehow impugned here. Other than that one point, it's high time we all start taking what's presented on these forums with multiple grains of salt. Thanks

Holy crap! I didn’t know such scummy scammers existed! I don’t contribute to Many Forumns though-everyone is an expert when I just want to understand how some piece sounds. If I may suggest?: find out what you like in terms of sound from your hi fi and carefully research components. Then find a decent dealer, say like ocd Mikey here and speak to them. Get a feel if they actually enjoy the hobbey. I’ve only spoken to Mr Mike here a couple times, but he seems like a great partner in audiophile crime. Yea yea ,he has his favorites,but doesn’t poop all over competition. Mr Mike I feel a so passionate about music and geeking out on equipment he is SO into and lives to expand upon it. No smarmy sales pitch. Mikey: try this out, I think it’ll work for you because of x,y,and Z.
