I appreciate the reality you guys show about the journey. We start our adventure in October with an Escape 19, and our trusty 2021 Toyota Tacoma. We're so much better for your wisdom, and positivity. Thank you. 💛
Wow, Aaron you are seriously handy! We’ve all said it before but it bears repeating - you guys are an awesome team!

Thanks Carman!!
As someone who grew up in LA and went to college in Denver as well as lived here in CO for the last 25 years, I've driven that I-70/I-15 route more times than I can count. I enjoyed all the video of places and highway stretches that I instantly recognized. I, too, have white-knuckled that stretch between Grand Junction, Green River and Richfield, UT. What people don't realize is that if you are towing going west, you can hit significant headwinds on that portion of I-70 that don't feel like much while you're driving, but between a steady headwind and the significant climb from Green River to Richfield, it will KILL your MPG and it can seem like you have a hole in your gas tank as your fuel gauge drops like a rock. I had to finally bail off and drive 20 miles north to a little town that had one gas pump...even since that trip, if I'm towing on that stretch, I ALWAYS fill up in Green River (no matter what my gas gauge says) before heading further west towards I-15. Glad it worked out for you but sorry that you didn't get to enjoy the scenery...that particular segment of I-70 is amongst the most spectacular and unique stretches that you'll ever see from an interstate highway!
I replaced my 32 gal tank with a 60 gal tank and it made all the difference. Longer stops between fill-ups, no fuel anxiety syndrome and best of all, picking the place where price is less rather than having to fill up because I am low on fuel. Should be a serious consideration and it was not that expensive! Adventure On...
We notice at 1/2 tank it goes faster. Just less stress to stop and fill up more often. 👍
Living in Florida and loving to travel out west, we’ll do 4-5 500 mile days to get out there. Then slow down and move at a slower pace once we’re there.
The Auxiliary Tank may fit on the Right side of the Truck on the right side under the truck under the Passenger side.
I've stayed at that campground in Brush, CO before. It's a nice place to stay for the night. Also, I have a 2017 F350, so a very similar truck to yours. The tank is a 34 gallon tank. When it shows 0 Miles to Empty, and if you filled up the tank, it would take 29 gallons. Ford "hides" 5 gallons from you. Once it says 0 Miles to Empty, you actually have 5 gallons left, which means about 50 miles (@10 Miles Per Gallon). Not saying you should always dance real close to empty, but you do have more than you think.
Those 90 degree turns will bust the tire sidewalls !!!!!!!!!!
Yes, how funny 😆. We are reminded of our crossing the great Salt Lake year's ago and how our four full spair gasoline cans save our trip, again. It's like the Lake always got bigger every year we were crossing it, lol. Good times for sure 😌 and the state of Utah is truly worth all the efforts in traveling.Truly love that old Tundra, but not the old small gas tank, lol. Thanks again for sharing your travels! Very very nice setup your building, lots of fun! Go easy and some times the hardest times turn out to be your best of times in this life! It's truly always be what the kids will remember and start laughing 😅 anyways.... lol Fun.
This is the first video of yours I have watched and really enjoyed it ,great job. I must say Chris you tow like a Boss!

Once again as I kick back on my Concept2 Rowing Machine to workout to your latest episode I am so glad we decided to start new careers post retirement (I as a Greenskeeper, my wife as a Librarian) while staying at home vs. going RV'ing like so many other retired folks. Keep up the great work with your shows, very relaxing to watch!
Wow great trip glad you made it ! Chris is so chill for being so stressed out, great job !
A great channel to watch and learn about a RV looking at great campsites and scenery!! As always BS & BK & BC !!
Glad you kids are making that lifestyle work. Beautiful earth for sure! Be safe. 😊....love the tunes. Get that extra fuel!
Hi Chris and Aaron, great video. Been a subscriber to your channel for a while now. Really like your content you put out there. I can see the anxiousness in both of you to get your solar installed. I know when I did mine, it was a game changer. I used all Victron components and the Multiplus II inverter/charger was a huge game changer! Can’t wait to see your finished product. Keep the videos roll’in and safe travels. Jim
Noticed both of you have big grins and smiles despite the new changeover to a new home and all that takes.

nice modifications so far. Looking forward to see the final electrical upgrade. Running low on fuel is never fun for sure, but looks like you made it with several gallons to spare....as always safe travels...
As always another great video Chris & Aaron! What a trip. Just driving through Chicago is enough to stress a driver out. Can't wait for next week and the big install, I know it's going to be a knock-out of a system. Louie & June Bug were being their usual adorable. Sweet dogs!
Made part of this trip last week. Went from Saint Cloud MN to Cañon City CO.

Hey fellow Minnesotans... currently in Utah myself being a grandpa... Enjoy your adventures and such. Very informative and fun to watch. Heading back to Minnesota early September to get the place winterized, and then back across to being a grandpa until the cold chases me south. For sure will be watching your travels and upgrades... Safe travels...
Nothing like having range anxiety with a 34 gallon gas tank while towing a fifth wheel. We put a transfer flow 58 gallon replacement tank in our 22 F350 and the difference is amazing. We definitely have to think about taking a bathroom break before we get anywhere near low on fuel. I believe transfer flow for the diesel are 60 gallons and worth every penny. The transfer flow company is in Southern California by the way.
Great video, I just put screen on the back side of my vents that on are the inside steps like you have. It will keep all the bugs and flying insects out of your camper when you have the storage door open.
Great episode I’ve been on that highway many times. It’s a beautiful drive. I’ve always heard opening slides at a Cracker Barrel is a big no-no that guy from driving in Vibing is always shaming people. I haven’t had my Cracker Barrel experience yet. Your solar system is going to be awesome. I am prepping to put a small system in. I am preparing to go full-time myself in my Laredo fifth wheel 14. Thank you again for all your tips and information sending you guys positive energy. Safe travels on the road. It’s still pretty hot here in Southern California.
FYI - the next time you need to pass thru St George when it's hot, go up to Pine Valley Rec Area - gorgeous and higher elevation, much cooler. PS - get an after-market fuel tank to replace your own under the truck, not the bed which takes up space. We went from a 35 gal to a 55 - game changer!

Soft starts makes all the difference on my Alliance 310RL looking forward to seeing your solar instal.
Kris seems real excited by the washer/dryer addition. As to fuel, we have a 50 gallon tank, which gives us a 500 mile range. Which is more than we drive in a day, so works great. You can replace your stock tank with a larger tank, so that you don't have an auxiliary tank taking up bed space.

We have a 60 gallon diesel and get 1000 miles. It's heaven!
I'm really looking forward to the solar install video. We have pretty much the same truck, just ours its a 2017. I can always tell when the truck is doing a regen as the mileage drops dramatically. We pulled our 5th wheel on very long trips the past couple of years, and that stock fuel tank is an issue for us, as we just don't get enough range. I'm planning to replace that tank before we take another long trip. We came back from a trip in June and I decided not to stop for fuel as I calculated that we would have 98 miles left when we got home. Truck did a regen and we ended up with 38 miles left. My wife was kind of freaking out. Best regards, Kent
Nice 5th wheel! Congratulations 🎊 Just did Seattle to Chicago May-June in our 5th wheel, I agree I loved the stretch from Richmond Utah and West Denver. The Mt passes just past west Denver were intense 😅
I would seriously consider a mini split unit swapped out for the front ac. If you look at the power draw of these, they are INCREDIBLY more efficient than the traditiional roof mount units.

They did so good with the long travel days! That darn wind!!💨☹️
When we were driving 18wheeler team we went from PA to CA in two days.
I just did the same drive (stopped in Vegas for a week) and have to say St George Utah is absolutely beautiful
Cliff hanger on your solar setup 😂 cant wait to see the goodies. Also very impressive 3 weeks on tanks! I can only last 4 days. And we were very conservative.
Hi Aaron and Chris! Really love the music you've been adding into your videos lately. The choice of music and incorporating this into your edits, really take your videos and viewing experience to the next level. Love it! BTW, love the Ben Wagner, "Countryside" song! Sensational pick and choice!
You are traveling through my neck of the woods! Happy you love my beautiful state of Colorado! The state parks around Grand Junction and Palisades are so much nicer than the KOA! Love following your travels!
We were feeling your anxiety watching your video tonight. Once we were traveling at night and our gauge started dropping quickly. We had 50 miles to gas and 100 miles to empty that quickly turned into 25 miles with 30 miles to empty. We abandoned trying to make it Buccees and started looking for exits. We pulled off an exit with 2 miles to empty but the one station was closed. We had a station showing on maps 4 miles away. We hit 0 on the gauge about 3 miles from the station. Pulling into the station was such a relief and it took over a gallon more filling the tank than we had ever had before. Lesson learned for me. First, if possible, don't travel at night. Second, always start looking for gas at 1/2 a tank regardless of where Buccees is at. Safe travels to you. We can't wait to see your new solar/battery/inverter install.

Whoa! It would be way worse at night! Glad it worked out. 👍
"Lolligoo... uh..." Hahaha, no more wine for you!🤣 You guys have the BEST travel channel! I'm liking the subtle change to the slow-mo speed-ramps you're doing... so many people do too-fast shots of things they want to show but don't want to do a focus-segment, and that works just as well but isn't so labor/time-intensive for you. Kudos on that. Upgrades, can't wait for that vid! {{Kris - "WOOHOO! in the background... obviously my no more wine' comment was too late.}} She's so cute! (You guys need to switch up your shutter speed for the truck-approaching shots to get rid of that weird light-flashing headlight thing. Or turn the lights off as in the KOA approach. Aren't KOAs great? Are they prohibitively expensive?) "Nut job" on the fuel situation... boy do I get that. Being a commercial driver, I have had that happen a number of times, things just happen. Also with overheating in an old pickup going over the Waldo Grade into SF on a Sunday evening heading back to Half Moon Bay when traffic is at a standstill. I get very tense and it's never pretty. Even carrying an extra 5 gallons of gas can help if you're not too freaked out about having gas stored somewhere? Fortunately, your gas gauge/warning is always set to a default higher than is shown (almost always?😵💫) so you're probably good in most cases. Are you heading up to Northern CA? Maybe we'll finally get to do that e-bike ride together? Happy trails! Looking forward to the next vid.

🤣Thanks Kai! Always appreciate your comments on the production side of filming. Wine definitely helps after those long travel days! I think your are right on the fuel thing. We showed 30 miles till empty which would have been about 3 gallons left, but when we filled up it only took 28 gallons of our 34-gallon tank. So we had around 6 gallons left.... We might be doing Nor Cal later this fall.... but not sure yet!
Hi Chris & Aaron! I just did that trip in reverse. A 5 day blast from SoCal to Illinois to pick up a new rig. Now I have to add a solar/lithium package to live off-grid normally again! Can’t wait to see what you guys did. Kit says hi to Louie and June!

That was close Phew!! Cant wait to see Utah and Colorado.
I would suggest you put your battery disconnect switch on the negative lead instead of the positive lead. This eliminates the rare chance if something happens to short the positive of the battery to ground. This will cause a dead short even with the switch in the off position. . If the switch is on the negative side, then it wont be an issue if something happens to short the positive of the battery to ground. It works either way. Just a little safer if your switch the negative instead of the positive. On DC volts system it is always good practice to disconnect the ground first and connect the ground last when working on the system.
We just did this same trip. I was in copper mountain , vailand avon. We we went to all the passes . We were all over from lookout mountain to see buffalo bill grave to pikes peak . Yes IH 70 is a scenic drive. So many wrecks can occur. Eishenhower tunnel can be a problem. It was in the upper 70s to low 40 s even went to Rocky Mountain National park

My 40 foot diesel pusher averages throughout the summer at about 7.4 miles to gallon. And when I do have to fill it up it’s ugly cause I have 130 gallon tank. Thanks for the video.
Could you all do a video on pulling the 5th wheel with your truck. Are you using the same truck that pulled your trailer? Did you on purpose buy the truck knowing it could pull a 5th wheel later on? How is pulling the 5th wheel c/w pulling the trailer.? How did you decide what kind of hitch to install to pull the 5th wheel? Did your truck limit how big your 5th wheel could be?
Been a long time since I drove through that tunnel, in a big rig, dropping off those hills can be scary in the winter, lol. Cool to see again. Can't wait to see you're solar set up, if you can, go to Ventura to the beach, it's dry camping but a few nights are worth it, KOA in Barstow is a good spot to stop and get read for Calif.

Hey guys got to remember when towing weather you go big or small on units I wanna believe that elevation, & sea level played a huge part in your gas issues… plus it’s a bigger unit . I use a gmc dually to haul units like yours to something as long as your 20’ . So hopefully you made it to Cali get a reserve
Ahhh, I love it now this is real-time travel in a RV we did a cross-country trip from the PNW to N.C. and that was fun, I was tired a few times but I amused myself while my wife slept, lol, don't tell her that but I love it besides at the time I had bad back pain most of the way there and back. I'm like you I install a Splendid washer and dryer combo and that was the cat meow we are so glad that we did, because some of those laundry mats are shady and we didn't like it, some of the washer machine didn't get the cloth clean anyway. Now we bought a new setup and I was looking forward to it but we were going to plan another cross-country trip from the PNW to NJ but we might not make that one, we will see. How long did it take you guys to drive 670 miles and when did you leave, because it seem like when you arrived at your campsite it was still light out, the trip that I planned from the PNW to NJ was going to take 6 days but I was ready to do that I love driving I can drive for hours while my wife slept and she would wait up and say, are we there yet, lol. Anyway, guys be safe and I really enjoy your video and the mods that you are doing to the 5th wheel. Oh yeah, on one side note I made sure I took a 5 gals fuel can with me just in case and when I get to where I'm going I put it in my tank, I don't want to walk in no man land, I'm too old.
We only do 300-350 perday. Want to get in early for choice of sites as well as prepare a meal and get rested.
Hey Chris and Aaron! So fun to see you take almost the same route we took from MN through CO and into Utah 2 years ago on our inaugural trip! We missed you at the MN Ally Rally. Are you going to the Southern Rally in April at Camp Margaritaville? We’ll be there and hope to see you! Safe travels!
That happened to us going through Texas. It was windy and my truck said we had plenty of fuel, and we ran out of gas about 2 miles from Marathon Texas. I had to walk to the gas station but a county sheriff gave me a ride back. Boy I hate that feeling. Don't trust that darn miles to go gauge. Great job towing Chris. Two thumbs up. 👍 👍

For the Insty Connect, I think I recall Nick saying that the router runs on 12 to 24 volts....I'm going to hook my Insty in the rigs 12 v system, that way I don't need the inverter on to have an internet connection...

Crossing my fingers and hoping you two are not building another 12v system. Also, when I was building mine I bought an extra inverter and switched my AC unit so that I could run it off main power or the batteries. Comes in handy when you only have 15 amps and need to juggle power.

Chris, good job on your ventriloquism at 22:53. 😂😂😂
There are some sayings in RVng that you may find helpful on travel days. 1. 2 2 2 (2 hours, 200 miles or 2pm) and: 2. 3.3.3. (3 hours, 300 miles or 3pm) Shorter days makes the travel more interesting and restful. Have fun!

Hi Aaron, can’t wait to see how your Victron/Battle Born upgrade turns out! This will be your 3rd one? Hey, check out the Blue Sea 3000 HD disconnect switch vs. the one you showed in the video. The HD will handle 600A vs the smaller one’s 300 or 350A. I just finished a MultiPlus II and GC3 upgrade on our Airstream and a friend pointed this out to me. Glad I did so. Also, Battle Born Support told me not to connect the disconnect directly to the Victron Distributor because they said “it can cause resistance”. I finally figured out they were suggesting it can loosen over time and thus cause resistance. They said they wouldn’t support me unless I used a cable between all the connections (which I did). Just a thought! Keep up the great videos. PS: We miss you on the AS family but understand you needed more space that a 5’er provides.

Hey Jeff! Thats good to know about the Lynx distributor. It seems safer to me as its one less connection to make and they are designed to be connected there to each other... but I get that it's not designed that way. I actually bought one of the 600a HD switches at first! It's too bad they don't make a 400 amp switch as 600 is way overkill but 400 amp is what a lot of 12v systems are rated for with the fuses and 4/0 cable. It's 900 amp for 5 min and 1750a for 30 seconds! My new system will be half the amps (hint hint) so we went with the 350 amp switch. It's rated at 600a for 5 min and 1200 amp for 30 sec which is overkill for our new system. Glad to hear your enjoying your new system upgrade!
I also drove the same route where you guys panicked about the fuel between Gas stations, I was lucky enough to have an extra 5 gal. gas can that just got me there. I now have auxiliary 65gal. tank. Hey at the 1:47 mark of this video , are your rear jacks that low normally ? Seams pretty low i'm sure you noticed that. anyhow hope all well , looking forward to the electrical upgrades. Cheers from Canada
Ot's not that bad bro. Take a step back and rethink the situation.
Always carry at least 1 jerry can of fuel, never know when youll need it.
New to channel…does Chris doing all the driving? We almost ran out of diesel in Nevada too. We were past the 0 miles to empty. We were so grateful that our last 7-11 miles were downhill. I feel your anxiety!

Hey guys my wife has recently started watching your videos. May I ask which GPS map are you sold what provides the prices of gas stations on your route? Love the videos!
Love your channel! Also love your joggers - what brand are they??
17:00 I hope you got some discounts on all that Victron
The heat and mountains really mess with your MOG.
I have been in those unintentional fuel situations before... very stressful
